Not that I dislike A Sign of Zeta, but I think Mizu no Hoshi is a better song. Also, OP 2 has the better visuals. Some of the shots are just powerful.

Here's a tip: a perfect opening at minimum must overwhelmingly succeed in:
Music - A song that captures the feel of the show is essential.
Animation - Has to boast silky smooth animation.
Visual aesthetic - Stands out with a unique style.
