Left or right?

yes

Right. Retards don't count as women.

I choose the Araragi.

Depends, which one hasn't had a bath yet?

Left

Both are pretty cool overall. Karen is a little too wild for me, and Tsukihi is just way too cute, especially when she gets mad.

I want left more than anything.

Right suits me more, although both are great choices.

If I have to pick, I pick left.
I'd rather Ougi though.

left

I pick both.

smart could've been imouto > dumb imouto > average intelligence imouto

we know

Karen

Left can teach me karate while right can teach me how to be platinum ureshii.

Kinda hard to pick just one.

God, braids Hanekawa was always decent but Kizu made her so fucking hot.

Anyone have any stitches of her?

snek!

My Little Sisters Can't Be This Cute! I really need to rewatch Nisemonogatari.

Tsukihi easily
Also all Monogatari girls are better with short hair

I preferred Karen in Nise but they really made Tsukihi just as good in later parts. They're both some of the best imoutos in anime.

...

...

>2017
>not going RRG
Fuck the sisters.

I wonder...

I'm confused by your post.

Oh yippee, a thread about me!

I'll take the bathtub package deal

Left

Why are there eggs in their hair?

Those are hairpins. Why are they wearing sunny-side up egg hairpins? It's a mystery.

It's not even symbolism anymore, is it? They just have eggs in their hair.

They're making the mother of all omelettes here, anons.

its to show they are fertile

phoenix + ~vampire = ?

Only one way to find out.

I'll take the Phoenix

what goes through the mind of people who draw shit like this? I'll never understand

>I wonder what this girl would look like with muscles?

I love the bird!

...

How do I get into this series?

Bird is the thinking mans waifu.

galax.moe/monogatari/

Be a Japanese teenager or forget about it, you won't understand more than maybe 40% of the narrative.

...

its still very enjoyable even without references, or you can find subs that explain stuff

Missing one or two puns doesn't mean you won't get the narrative. You have to be literally retarded to don't understand the story

Also, this is still a light novel, don't pretend it's some literary masterpiece

How did I manage to completely miss Koyomimonogatari

If you watch a lot of anime, you can pick up on a lot of the puns.

>muscles
Yes, that's exactly how a muscular person looks like. Also there's a lot of furrys that draw shit like that.

Lemme rephrase then.
>I wonder what this girl would look like with MUSCLES?
Also, you're questioning fetishes, you should know better by now not to, as none of them make sense.

Twintails Detective Birb was very cute

too bad she turned into single braid washed up prostitute by age 19.

I want this meme to die

Birb is the purest

the purest among the scantily clad skunks shaking their asses in "casinos" for sure

Left

Twintail a best.

always choose bee

She didn't even start working yet and just decided she wants to be a dancer

Also, just from her dialogue from Nekomonogatari Kuro it should be clear that she wouldn't whore herself out.

And pic related

Araragi logic is the best.

Superlong < Hime < Short < Sexhair < Braid < Twintail < Almost shoulder lenght

All Birds are super cute though

Pic always best version of best girl, but b > brib and its only by a little bit

Damn, I got it backwards from what I actually meant

Right has good dancing skills.

>don't pretend it's some literary masterpiece
I mean it kind of is, pretty much everything Nisio has ever written (besides clone-works like his Death Note and JoJo LNs) have won awards for their writing. It's not on the level of Faulkner or anything but it's up there.

it really isn't. It may be exceptional in the world of LNs. but it's not impressive literature by any means.

...

Can you really make that comment if you don't read Japanese?

Yes.

That makes no sense.

how much of the core story do you think you are missing when it gets translated?
as far as the translated LNs go you might be missing some puns but everything is there

Plot isn't the only component of a novel, prose matters too.

Now If i just understood Japanese to really grasp the deep philosophical implications of a guy rambling about panties for four pages straight or sexually harassing elementary school girls!

Truly, the power of Japanese puns that have been folded a thousand times is beyond my puny western mind

>plotfaggotry

you have no point. You claim his works are some sort of higher literature, when they aren't. They are LNs aimed at the Otaku audience. Some wordplay that only works in it's original language doesn't make it an impressive milestone in literature.

His ability to create characters and a narrative is mediocre.

>portmanteau words and simple puns are sophicated prose

I really like Monogatari, but if Nisio was such a fantastic writer, don't you think he would write something else than Japanese YA fiction with pictures of cute girls in their underwear?

I could say that Moby Dick is about some loon rambling about a whale.

I'm not even implying that Nisio is like some Japanese Faulkner or anything, I'm just saying judging a piece of writing you can't even read is arrogant.

Ideology at it's purest.

>his ability to create characters is mediocre

I agree on the rest of what you said, but I think his characters are fantastic, not only in Monogatari. They always have a very distinct voice and personality and play off of each other in fun ways

so you think that just from being translated into english the series loses so much that you shouldn't bother watching/reading it

Left if she can teach me the way of justice and kung-fu. Right otherwise.

He might not want to if he gets more money and/or prefers writing with anime archetypes.

And while monogatari isn't like "proper" literature, having any kind of experience with writing and it's industry would certainly help getting into that market. He might even have tried it already with a different pen name. But popular literature usually sells more with rare exceptions.

Watching is one thing, because you can still see the pretty pictures and enjoy the music but I personally wouldn't bother reading literature translated from a language that doesn't use the Latin alphabet.

>I personally wouldn't bother reading literature translated from a language that doesn't use the Latin alphabet.

That's being a bit harsh. Stuff like the Spice and Wolf translations are absolutely outstanding (both the fan and official translations). Both nail the tone and wording perfectly, and they're very careful to make sure no little details are missed or messed up.

I cant tell if you are trolling right now but all these comments are the reason people who haven't watched the show think it and its fanbase are pretentious and 2deep4u

>Yen Press
>very careful to make sure no little details are missed or messed up

Just being in a different language doesn't make a work completly immune of critic and so far I have not seen any argument why his prose makes it so perfect someone who doesn't understand Japanese shouldn't even try to understand it

Especially considering that it is clearly written with an Otaku audience in mind and that many of the clever wordplays are directly acknowledged as such in the story (e.g. Meme being proud of Shinobu's name), I can't see why it's supposedly inaccessible.

Many people with a little knowledge will pick up on a lot of stuff and even if not, most translations go out of their way to explain the jokes for which you would have to have a deeper understanding

I stuck to the DWT fan translations, but the officials are by no means bad. I am aware of YP's questionable track record, but I'm pretty sure they're fine.

>Implying they don't come as a set

>I have not seen any argument why his prose makes it so perfect someone who doesn't understand Japanese shouldn't even try to understand it

Criticize all you want, just know you're criticizing a translation instead of the original work. To give another example, you could read a translation of the Qu'ran and say it's reads like shit and has no rhyme or rhythm to it.. But in Arabic, it reads like a poem and when read out loud sounds enchanting.

Left!

yeah, I really like the consistency of the characters, and how everyone just seems to fall into place after a mildly interesting initial conflict, just orbit around the MC to be called up and dusted off for a short fanservice scene afterwards.

Seriously some characters just feel forced at some point, and would have had more of a purpose if they had gone and stayed gone after the resolving of their arc.

Prime examples, Sodachi and Ononoki. Ononoki should have just fucked off and stayed away after making her point in killing the guy. It would have actually had a message then. Instead, she is just around I guess. Sodachi, had a point to make and more or less made it, but then she moves in with the Araragis so she can stay around I guess.

Hanekawa finally distances herself from the MC and moves on with her life? nope, she is around I guess.

Senjougahara? Around I guess.

Hachikuji? she died, but oh well she's around I guess.

The only character that kind of actually left the scene for good was Sengoku, and even then it's probably not final. There is absolutely no consequence or risk in any of it, and it gets really stale really quickly once you start seeing the pattern. There is no fucking moral to the story. And it's because the story in itself is designed to please Otakus, so Nisio will never do anything that may upset the audience with it, even if it means all the Characters go out of their way to make it happen.

Left especially with her long hair

I get what you mean

Even Kaiki sticks around after being supposedly killed in Koi, fucking Tadatsuru is just chilling in the afterlife ready to return at any time and knowing that Hachikuji would inevitably return totally lessened the impact of her amazing sent off.

Hell, I wouldn't be suprised if Rouka came back for more Yuri shenenigans with Kanbaru at some point

>but then she moves in with the Araragis so she can stay around I guess.
So you're judging characters based on spoilers on Sup Forums? Most of the rest of Sodachi's story is away from the rest of the cast. All relationship she had with Araragi was just quickly mentioned in a short dialogue when they found each other years after cutting all connections, and then Araragi moves away to another city and she stays.

I believe every single scene involving Math has been translated

Mathfags are a blessing

True, but not enough mathfags scanning stuff. Even the character sheet from the already localized BD.

>I mean it kinda is

whew lad bring this whole argument to /lit/ please

could use some friday night entertainment
