Well, there are worse diseases than autism, like for example Christianity, homosexuality, capitalism, obesity, Islam, Judaism, Americanism. poo in loos, alcoholics, drug addicts, whores..etc. So overall world is full of mentally ill, autistic people are least of the problem compare to those i mentioned. A kid asked if he could help place money pods and bags across the checkouts where I worked, these are empty but I said check with his parents first, mother said no and the kid looked bummed I showed her what exactly we would do and she consented.
He was really polite and half way he told me he wanted to help me because it helps him deal with his autism, I was surprised but then understood why he wanted to help.
We returned to his mother and the first thing she said was I shouldnt of let him help because it was money related and him having autism no one in my position would let an autistic kid help normally. I told her had there been any risk I would of said no and that I didnt see a boy with autism when he asked if he could help. I just saw a curious kid who wanted to help and saw no harm.
I asked for his name, thanked him and shook his hand and he gave a little bow.
I felt bummed for a minute because his mum felt the need to highlight it when I just saw a kid who was being polite, told me himself and explained it helps him deal with it.
