The change is mostly explained in the post, but a lot of people complained that it didn't look like him, and they were right, it looked more like some random middle-aged dude, with the beanie and the beard, so I decided to lose the "old sam" shtick, and replace him with a better looking sprite. Overall, it's pretty hard to make a 30x30 image look like someone, but I think it is OK. The eyes look different, a bit asian-like, but that's because i didn't have enough pixels to work with lol.
The Centrist faction I added because I needed something to fill out the empty space both in the tactical gameplay and the campaign map. They mostly represent the usual "both sides are bad" people. They also represent bugmen and politically spineless people in general. I caricatured them as fedora-wearing autists because that is the stereotype associated with them, and i feel that it fits well. Also added the 56% face for the laughs, and to see if i could even translate it into pixel art, and it turned out to be one of my favorite sprites so far.
I also made a sub for the game at www.reddit.com/r/altfight so if it gets enough subs, i'll probably post there more often instead of here. (Don't try to bitch about this, I know 90% visit plebbit daily)
Here are the other factions and units if you haven't been following.

It's explained in the Itch.io page. It consists of two parts. The first takes place on the campaign map, with various towns and cities held by one of three factions, which are themselves split into 3 kingdoms. So there are 9 countries in total. You use the towns and cities to collect gold (and maybe some other resource I'm not sure yet), and to train troops to make armies. You can move the armies around on the campaign map, and if you attack another army, you get to fight them on a battlefield. The battle is turn based and tile based, and you position units and move them around to beat your enemy, maybe by encircling them, flanking, or just fighting until you are the only one left.

bamp veeeeery nice man but there is not much difference between faction it seems to me. And where is the NatSoc faction? we're not fascists. More like environmentalist atheist radical race realists.

Imagine being this much in denial.
All right wing ideologies of today, like neocons, libertarians, neo-nazis, ancaps, white identitarians (I think?), etc. Fall under the ancap faction because a lot of left wingers associate nazism and other far right movements with capitalism and also it pisses off both nazis and republicans so its funny
Its ironic
Landon Lopez
socialists under ancap very nice. Anyway NatSoc is not the same as Neo-nazi and you'Re a filthy commie redditor why are you making game about alt-right?
Jacob White
No its supposed to be political satire, but a lot of people who don't get that its ironic get pretty butthurt. Especially because I added anarcho- before everything

Very interesting
