I love it

I though it wrapped up nicely at about 3/4 of the way through and then made the mistake of introducing new characters to overcomplicate things and leave with an unsatisfying conclusion. Should have been 18 episodes instead of 24. Is the manga better? I have it in my manga backlog but it's not high priority.

An excellent picture drama.

>Is the manga better?
No. But at least you find out what happened with everyone, but I mean just knowing the spoilers would suffice as well.

A good anime and a nice manga.

So reading a synopsis would be more efficient with the same result?

Great anime done with $100 as the budget for the entire season.

>Dat episode where they literally use cardboard cutouts to make a filmed puppet show.

>Still no BDs

I don't think we'll ever get them either. Wasn't Kare Kano one of the ones where the original film was in the fire/flood or some shit?

le teeth girl lol

That was funny. You can tell they just were like, "Fuck it. Got to film the episode about something."

...

Haven't watched it yet but I like the teeth girl meme

nice

I liked it. Good mix of romance and comedy. I need to go back and re-watch it to see if my impression of the series has changed any, though.

>Is the manga better?
The manga progresses a lot further than the anime did. However, most of the manga material is more the different characters settling into a relationship and adjusting to each other. (and the awkwardness of that) The weirdness in the anime is because it wrapped up about 1/3rd or so of the way through the manga.

I actually thought that was quite funny.

>No pseudo-sequel where we follow Yukino's little sisters as they and their stumble with the trials and tribulations of love.

It hurts.

I thought the staff burned the original cells and stuff for the ED of that one episode?

>*Friends

>The weirdness in the anime is because it wrapped up about 1/3rd or so of the way through the manga.
That's what I thought happened which is why Kare Kano is on my manga backlog. The thing is that I only cared about the two main characters and could give a care less about the side characters. They were props more than people in my eyes so focusing on them to make a nice, cute romance into a love dodecahedron was the exact opposite of what I wanted which is what I felt the latter episodes were about. I would rather reread Onidere if that was how it was going to go. I am making a lot of assumptions though and could have completely misread where it was actually heading so I apologize if I'm coming across as being willfully ignorant.

my favourite romance.

I kinda cared about Tsubasa only because I was a huge asukafag at the time and she reminded me of her, I have since realized my shit taste and endeavor to better myself

Yukino's frienemy relationship with the dentist seemed interesting since she was dating an older man, but they never really did anything interesting with it.

>The thing is that I only cared about the two main characters and could give a care less about the side characters.
You're going to enjoy perhaps half the following content in the manga. Maybe. Yukino and Arima get the majority of the development time, but it gets a lot rougher in later chapters. I've not heard anyone complain about the change in tone, but then again, most people talking about it had completed it and weren't reading it for the first time.

That said, a lot of the other characters don't see much development in the early half and so it's easy to not care about them. I didn't like Tsubasa much until her story arc and development, and several others end up with some odd relationships in the ending. Some really fucking bizarre.

Most botched ending ive ever seen.

I'm not a fan of tsundere. It's just not my thing. If they rounded out Tsubasa's character from basically angry mascot character to something more relatable then that would be great. I'll try it after I finish Ai-Ren.

It was good until Anno left.

>original cells
Cels don't matter, it's the film that matters.

This, It was really good but then it went wrong.

Remake when?

Nope.

Yep.

Fuck the MCs, these two had a way more interesting relationship

The show is made better for the insanity going on behind the scenes.

My pick for 90s AOTD.

>these two had a way more interesting relationship
that's just not true, at all.

[s4s] tier anime

It is.

This has to be the most forced meme of the last 7 years.

No, that would literally be Keit-ai

Not even. You can tell that at least more than a single person is posting that if only for people hopping on the bandwagon, and at least there's an internal logic to it.

I love that parents' flashback episode.

I didn't even know this anime exosted before our friends at the [s4s] headquarters adopted it and spread awareness, so you should be thankful.
I dont understand how anyone could hate [s4s] in the first place, everyone is really nice on that board

>everyone is really nice on that board
ignorance is bliss.

Top 10 anime battles

La chica de los dientes.

it was good until the girl MC became a slut and had sex

Was good until Anno left.

Obvious bait but I truly didn't expect them to casually start having sex. And the way they had the damn protagonist rape the another protagonist like it was a psychological drama seinen instead of shoujo comedy and the characters were not SD half of the time.

Shoujo manga can get truly fucked up.

>Obvious bait
no, I was serious

Well it was like the last episode before the production issues became really clear so probably a lot of people agree just they don't connect the two things

I HATE THIS FUCKING MEME
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR FUCKING YEARS FOR A REBOOT AND IT WONT HAPPEN!

>remake literally never
it's not fair Sup Forums

Great. The anime just kind of.... stops but apparently the manga goes for hundreds of volumes, up until they get married, have kids etc. I never had to time to read the whole manga. Is it worth it?

Also for people who've never seen the anime, it starts of as a funny slice of life for the first 10 something episodes then it slowly becomes "emo backstories of side characters" with the occasional comic relief.

I suspect the manga did not have such hyper comedy feel as the anime attempted at times, so the rape probably felt not as much out of place there. But Anno decided to keep it in anime as well despite all that, probably because Anno and shock value.

>all this talk about rape in the thread
wait what? i've watched this series a few times and never seen any such thing. is it "implied" rape? who rapes who?
if you're talking about the two MCs that's just how getting the girl works in Japan. Kabe-don muthafucka

It's easily one of the best works of both Anno and Gainax, and I hate how unknown it is compared to their other productions

It's my favorite. It also is proof that Anno is a good director who can take average source material and make it excellent.

>reboot
>remake
Why do people want this when they know Anno won't direct it?

>no reboot
good. they'd just modernize it and ruin it

favorite romcom and still in my 3x3 despite it's flaws

It's a romantic comedy that's directed in a similar way to the last two episodes of Eva TV. Somehow, it works absolutely great. It's easily Anno's best work after Eva.

That was fucking weird

>wanting anno to direct a reboot after the rebuilds

(OP)
Further proves that Anno is a complete fucking hack
>hurr the mangaka said mean things to me so I'll just throw a temper tantrum and quit the anime half-way through, ruining the entire anime as a result

Retard.

Better than most Gainax shit.
More like this pls, but
>nope

>still in my 3x3
Really, meaningless.

The show is really quite reflective of Anno's mental state after NGE as well.

Yukino was not willing.

I think they ended the anime right after that, so the implications of the whole thing didn't really pan out. But in the manga, it's clear she wasn't willing and Arima was mainly trying to just drive her away with it.

just rewatching and i like the budgetto - makes it feel more emotional for some reason

they got rid of the rom-memes within the first 7 episodes too and the progression struggles are real, but kind of eclipse their usefulness - narrative wise

show peeters out, but the negativity in the later episodes made it much more memorable than another cop out ending - like NHK's

neither was your mom

That episode where the MC's sister feels like she's being followed on the way from school, what the fuck

which ep was that

Episode 25, the one with the unique animation style and this as the ending theme
youtube.com/watch?v=bbZNtnh0ZYo

That would explain the divorce and bitter back-and-forth I lived through for some 16 years of my life.

I just got their first time having sex episode (ep 18) but this shit I can't binge watch. I can only watch a couple of episodes per day because after that my brain just rejects it.
Fun and well directed series though.

arima never rapes yukino in the anime, later in the manga tho

Greatest romance anime of all time. Best thing Gainax ever put out

Deal with it evafags

>Best thing Gainax ever hput out
The ending is, objectively, the worst ending an anime has ever had.
Not only is not an ending, it's not even anime.

why is this not in the OST ffs

Well you're right, it wasn't an ending.

It wasn't finished. Still a great anime

>Obvious bait but I truly didn't expect them to casually start having sex
Apparently neither did Anno
>I think I’m stuck. The male lead seemed to me to be so terribly upstanding, I figured he’d treat her better than that, when he up and has sex with her. He’s not the character I thought he was. Maybe that’s what it’s like nowadays. People don’t waste time, or something.

But it is
a.pomf.cat/ihnoxz.mp3

I have four cd's and I can't find it what's wrong with me

It's in this anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=collection&collectionid=3056but not the main series OST

the anime was great

the manga becomes a terrible edge fest

If the anime continued under Anno's complete control and the mangaka fucked off, it could have been amazing.
