I think I was in my late teens or so when I finally realized that this "Pocky" thing I kept hearing about on the anglophone internet was literally the French snack known as "Mikado" (they simply rebranded their product for the european audience)
Ironically I think there is no real association between Mikado and weebs here despite the extra-japanesy name. It's just something the average pleb loved in elementary school.

It's not effort, but it does require a little extra attention. You have to pause every time you get up or look away, because you miss something for taking your eyes off the screen for a moment. You don't miss as much if you can hear the dialogue while you look at something else.

So you want to watch anime without watching anime.

Not him but many shows can just as well be enjoyed as drama CDs. You don't need to keep staring at low budget stills while they blab on about nothing, you only need to look at the screen if you forgot what the characters look like.

But you can hear the Japanese. All anime uses pretty much the same lines. If you've seen 100 anime, which is the requirement for posting on Sup Forums, this should be no issue whatsoever.

Only during the first few seasons. My Hero Academia and Tales of Zestiria the X were both broadcast dubs and they're fantastic.
