I read the manga because Sup Forums insisted it was better. Later found out that there's basically no difference between the two.

On a whim I started it as it came out and was on the edge of my seat pretty much the whole time. Loved it. I want more

They fucked

It bothered me that no one asked MC-kun why he wasn't wearing glasses anymore.

if this is Sup Forums biggest grape then the story is good af

thrilling as fuck for the most part, enjoyed it

It kind of went downhill after the mother died.

Ending was bs, rest was great

Because in the manga he wasn't wearing glasses. They "modernized" the story a bit with some spiderman elements.

Second and third act left much to be desired. Why did it take 20 years for them to adapt it into a show?

asked for a non-mech sci fi and this was recommended. Was not disappointed.

It's not sci-fi tho

I know. What I mean is, if I stopped wearing glasses at least my father would notice something lacking in my face. The same if I had a gf or friends in school or whatever. It just felt weird because it could have been fixed with just two lines.
>oh you don't use glasses anymore?
>nah i use contacts now

started off way stronger than it ended, the baseball shot was great.

I liked when Shinichi was hesitating whether to kill Gotou or not. Good scene.

It was pretty good
Manga was better and ending felt rushed but I liked it a lot overall

expected something more large scale. there were only like 25 actual parasytes when I expected like millions. didn't really like the ending but the first half was amazing. I really enjoyed the scene where the one prisoner had to evaluate shinichi. He was a good character.

The anime was fucking shit

except all the designs in the anime garbage

I read the manga years ago, and wasn't disappointed at all with the adaptation. I liked the modern elements (tablets, internet, etc) incorporated into it, and the music was pretty refreshing.

>Aliens
>Not science fiction

I liked it

>Why did it take 20 years for them to adapt it into a show?
From what I remember, somebody was sitting on adaptation rights all that time and finally lost them. That's why it just got a live action adaptation too.

They aren't aliens though.

>Lifeforms from outer space aren't aliens, apparently

Did you miss the very first scene where they come from space

i watched it until episode 14

it was fucking trash

probably assume he was wearing contacts

>we finally got an adaptation of one of the coolest manga ever
>they changed the artstyle and story and used spastic music
Just fuck my Kiseiju up senpai.

The artstyle is shit and the music is double shit, but they followed the story extremely well

They made little changes to the story as well. It's set in today's time.

I love this show. Its the non-edgy well written counterpart and predecessor to that god awful tokyo ghoul trainwreck.

Using a tablet instead of a book doesnt change the story

It was good despite the soundtrack and Murano. I'd have loved some ambient/post-rock OST

Easily one of my favorite series of recent years. I'm not even an edge fan and I loved it from the first to last episode, like everything it has some flaws but they're easily overshadowed in my book.

I really liked most of the ost.
youtu.be/dezLzzu9QCE

it gradually gets bad in quality

I enjoyed it, ended up watching it all in one sitting.

The OST was surprisingly good. I still listen to it.
The OP grew in me too.

I read the manga a little while back and enjoyed it.
Still haven't watched the anime yet though.

I wonder if they'd be able to adapt Neo Parasyte.

I didn't like how it just turned into another "humans are the real monsters" type of story.

Did it though? Not completely at least. The scenes where Shinichi decides to kill Gotou to help his kind and when he says hating your species and pretending to love Earth is stupid and hypocritical were good. And Murano saying at the end that the fact he didn't want to kill and mourned death of a dog proves he's human, not monster.

He ended up with worst girl

Two best were dead though.

But Migi is best girl.

There's a live action movie, too? How is it?

Teenyboppers go around saying it's "the new Elfen Lied," so that bothers me, but at least it isn't edgy for no reason. I really enjoyed it, and was excited every week for a new ep.

indeed

>parasyte started almost 30 years ago

Very much a product of its era, the late adaptation does have a few clashes with changes in technology.

Ending is convenient and inconclusive, just like the manga ending.

I didn't like the music but it was otherwise pretty good.

Prefer the manga because the music's better.

Elfen Lied was garbage though, so that's not really a way to get my interest

Really? I just watched it and thought it was a train wreck.

Shame because it started out so promising and even had an MC that fucked someone.

What was even good about this in the end?

>Are you really the real Shinichi-kun?
it was great.

How was Kana able to detect Parasites so well, was she half human and half parasite?

the show seemed to imply that the parasites were sent by god or something though. There wasn't anything scifi-y in the show anyway, if the parasites were developed in a lab or something maybe I'd call it sci-fi. no UFOs and shit either, just normal world setting

>There wasn't anything scifi-y
The whole friggin' series shows the biology and evolution of fictional parasitic creatures from space, everything about it is sci-fi

>no UFOs and shit either
Doesn't need that to be sci-fi, it's a wide genre

>just normal world setting
Normal, minus the creatures that take over peoples brains and turns them into monsters, plenty of sci-fi has a "normal world setting"

Reminder to read this doujin if you liked Parasyte for an alternate end to Tamura Reiko.

It was so-so.

Plot-wise, sure. But the anime's OST, designs, and several fight sequences' visuals (plus those fucking crowds) were inferior, and stuff like that always makes me wonder why I even bothered watching an adaptation if all the aspects of anime that manga doesn't have are going to be half-assed.

I wish they expanded on the blurred line between human's morality v.s the parasite's growing sense of what ideal morality should look like. It was a very interesting take, but then they just sort of stopped at some point and made it an action flick.

Migi was a very interesting character, who turned out to not be as static as I thought he would be, whereas Shinichi took the exact opposite route.

The music was kinda shit, and often wasn't cohesive with the scene, the art direction and animation were quite nice tbqh

Overall a unique take on the paranormal genre that raises some real ethical/moral questions. I give it a 7.5/10

Because chad can do what he wants

But aliens are real, user

The OST was very good.

The drama was poorly done. Are you the real Shinichi-kun x100?

It was okay. I didn't regret watching it, but I didn't like the semi-ethical debate whether or not flesh-eating aliens are a problem. It's okay to tackle such a stance, but don't half-ass it.

what. The manga was praised for having a unique artstyle which they threw away in the anime.

Not to mention the soundtrack was god-awful.

The manga expands the the philosophical aspects a bit more if I remember correctly.

Along with Ushio to Tora, this really made the point that we need more 90s adaptations.

The episodes until Shinichi's mom died were really slow, then I got really invested in the show.

I thought this was harry potter from the thumbnail

The anime didn't have the same atmosphere as the manga. It was goofy when it should have been disturbing. The art and the music were shit. On top of that they made useless and idiotic changes like the MC starting as an introverted pussy before suddenly turning into a badass, and the girlfriend being more prominent. Fuck was she annoying.

So you say manga is better? I liked anime and I'll check it out.

Some things were great, but I found most of it pretty weak. People were always spamming how much he had changed and shit when he really didn't do much differently than before. Show us how he changed instead of telling us.
Last fight was a joke.

>Music
>Shit
Now listen here you little shit, you go wash them ears of yours because they are obviously filled with shit.

Because his senses got stronger, are you really retarded ? It ws explained by migi.

are you retarded? obviously we know why, but the other characters should not.

Weak second half

Tastes in music aside, it wasn't used correctly in the show. Like, the wrong track played at the wrong moment and spoiled a good scene.

That's the biggest problem with the anime, it's too faithful to the manga. I get that it's an adaptation but still.

I also prefer the old FMA anime because at least that one was kinda different, fight me

I think it is better, but it's mostly little things that are done better. The story is the same so if you expect something entirely different than the anime you will be disappointed. I'm probably a bit harsh against the anime, I don't think it's a bad anime, just a bad adaptation.

Like when?

Any time you want.
