I'm currently working on a doujin that I imported and scanned. I've never done any scanlation before, but I hope it turns out well!
Didn't a thread just died like 5 hours ago? With like 25 replies?
Anyway, I should really be translating this right now, but here I am on Sup Forums...
Just read all the raw chapter of pic related and it quickly become one of my new favorite manga.
Why is the translation so slow?
Also Nanachi is a miracle of the universe.
Help this manga is turning me into a furfag
Anyone interested in translating the final volume of Big Order? I can clean/typeset.
Pissed that it got dropped one volume to completion and just want to see it end desu
EBJ fixed yet?
I always told myself I'd translate tons of manga when I started learning Japanese. Now that I know it well enough, I'd much rather just read more instead.
Kechi.
Finishing redraws on Mitsukubi Condor, and QCing a chapter of He~nshin!!
Anything that could incentivize you into translating something?
Finally have time off and the last thing i want to do is scanlate.
Shit raws?
Vol1 is translated(months ago), hq raws are ready.
Waiting for RD and TS. If you are good at redrawing, tell habanero.
Also, the work on author's short story is underway.
>mfw slowly dropped everything I was working on in the last 3 months
Finally free. Scanlating is such a time sink.
Great job user, thanks for the hard work.
The meaning of life is simply whatever keeps you from killing yourself. Sometimes that's freedom and sometimes it's a time sink.
>Only three months
Casual.
This. Translation is so mendokusai.
I was the one who translated and typeset 8 and 9. I'm sorry, I couldn't take it anymore.
Raws are good, tank scans.
Can ayone scanlate this oneshot imgur.com
Looking for a moderately experienced cleaner willing to do anywhere between 1 and 9 volumes of this stuff. Translations are ready, typesetters are lined up, someone is willing to redraw, it just needs someone willing to clean.
Pic related is the kind of raws you should expect, this one is 25% size to fit the size limits though.
#teammoe on Rizon if anyone is interested.
Anyone working on this?
myanimelist.net
How about translate? :^)
Yeah, it's Mujina guy.
I'll work on it a bit more but fuck this chapter is so boring.
Oh it's that racing manga.
This. First try cleaning + typesetting.
Almost halfway through the korean-user's translations for the chapter.
Would anyone mind if I dumped here or should I make a new thread?
Aw, no plot development or is it just the mystery?
I'll still work on it though, I like Mujina.
Are you translating from a translation? Don't waste your time on that.
>itadakimatsu
BURN THIS
2nd page
Yeah I am. I don't read any korean/japanese so I can't really do anything else.
my sides, fuck me lol.
tfw cant even copy paste
>that typesetting
>umaru watermark
>korean translation
Hmm
actually nevermind i misread the comment.
disregard anything i say i have terminal astigmatism spreading through my body
Do those gooks really watermark every single page?
Dump somewhere else. And usually translations of translations have mistranslations in them, so just wait for Japanese raws
apparently.
because i'm a fucc, i'm not going to bother covering/removing.
I just pulled these from the korean-user's post
>I don't read any korean/japanese so I can't really do anything else.
Then don't do anything else, if you can't find a Japanese translator. You are part of the cancer ruining scanlations.
alright i'll stop dumping here.
It's pretty easy to not read shit tier scans desu.
I don't think by myself I can do anything to influence the pretty well established scan community.
>Vol1 is translated
Where's the script?
Shit tier scans get uploaded to manga reader sites all the time and then become canonical as far as most of the readers are concerned because they have no way of judging the accuracy.
Here's what you can do
Calibrate your monitor
Download a pirated copy of Photoshop
Download a font manager of your choice Nexus Font
Look up some font guides
Download some fonts
Set up your font manager with your new fonts
Look up a typesetting guide
Get much better results
>tfw cant even copy paste
Ewh. At least have the decency to read your translator's lines and type them out so you can weed out typos and other mistakes.
so you're telling me we could make great plot changes? and nobody would call us on it?
I'm a good two weeks behind schedule and I really should be typesetting but then again hanging out on Sup Forums takes less effort.
Not for obscure manga, no. But then you'd just be a dick.
Lately I've taken to blacklisting Sup Forums for 24 hour blocs so I can concentrate on translating. Sup Forums is too distracting.
>spoiler
Thanks, been typesetting for a while and I've never heard of it.
>itadakimasu!
That's been my problem too, though only for the last decade. You will never leave.
>Itadakimasu
You forgot the translator's note. Some people might not know what that means, so you need a little explanation for them.
TN: "Itadakimasu" is an essential phrase in your Japanese vocabulary. It's often translated as "I humbly receive," but in a mealtime setting, it's compared to "Let's eat," "Bon appétit," or "Thanks for the food." Some even liken it to the religious tradition of saying grace before eating.
But the uses for itadakimasu extend far beyond food. And though its roots are ancient, saying the phrase before meals is a fairly recent Japanese custom. Get ready to dig in. You are going to learn the history, uses, meaning, and philosophy behind itadakimasu.
In its simplest form, Itadakimasu 頂きます is used before receiving something. That's why the most common itadakimasu translation is:
頂きます(いただきます)
to receive; to get; to accept; to take (humble).
This explains why you say it before you eat. You're "receiving" food, after all.
Take your time, I can wait as long as it takes for BR.
Unrelated but wanted to let you know Tsutomu Takahashi joined Instagram just this year and he seems to be fairly active, dude goes by tsutomu69takahashi.
Any moonrune-readers going to be around about 5-6 hours from now? I made a questionable translation of a dead scanlation project from not-Japanese, and I'm hoping to get it corrected.
I'm going to storytime it with the raws; there are 75 pages remaining. Last release was 1996 days ago.
Post the sentence/page you're in doubt with and someone might help.
Also try out the Sup Forums's DJT and japanese threads, people there help often with questions and such.
Has anyone posted the fixed ebj script yet?
It's gonna take more than a script to fix it this time. They changed their viewer to one that's similar to the BookWalker web one. There's a single viewer canvas and the pages+everything else is rendered on it, dropping is ineffective now. Download method changed too, it's not scrambled images anymore. That's a can of worms I'm not getting into, I'll let China deal with it.
Rakuten also fixed their coupons like a week after I talked about them here, it's almost as if they watch these threads.
>I'll let China deal with it.
Then how am I supposed to rip raws for scanlating?
It had happened to jcafe a few years ago. We should find to the another heaven to talk about a script for ripping.
>Post the sentence/page you're in doubt with and someone might help
>translation from not-Japanese
That would be all of them. Except the first few pages which were checked by a friend of mine, who unfortunately isn't interested in fixing the rest.
Not working on anything at the moment tb͏h
It takes almost no work to get the old script working with the new viewer. The only problem is that pages are merged now so you have to split them.
Which isn't really a problem since you can work around it with actions in Photoshop. I just wish I had a script that works.
pastebin.com
I'm working on either improving this or just writing a quick Photoshop script, but for now this works.
Sorry to the people I said I'd email yesterday, I ended up being busy all day.
Thank you, now to hope it doesn't break before the 27th when all the shit I'm buying comes out.
Rakuten is doing a promotion that's different, so the jury's out on whether it'll revert back to the old coupon format or not.
Much appreciated, but why didn't you chance a version from 1?
*change
Because I'm still making changes to it, it's not done but it works well enough if people need to use it asap.
Also I forgot you could even do that, I usually just make changes myself and don't post them.
No offense, just asking user.
You want someone to proofread 75 pages? That's not a small task.
Oh now I see why you (or some other user) was saying the @Grant thing worked. In the latest version of FF and GM, which I apparently didn't have at the time, it makes the GM script run in a different context where the .toDataURL and .toBlob functions actually do exist making my workaround entirely useless.
Well, canvas dropping will work until they make it so the function drawing the images scales them after descrambling and before drawing.
Shipping the canvas data to a server running PHP with GD enabled would probably be a better idea for cropping, JS isn't very amazing at that.
Do you guys get paid for scanlating ? If there is, how much ?
Not proofread, he wants a TL check.
It's not really much to ask, it just depends on how much free time one has.
Can you implement the canvas mouseclick simulation from the other script so I don't have to click through an entire magazine manually?
It's kind of funny how much empty space their canvas has now.
I don't have the other script, but I don't know if there's any way to tell that the canvas is done loading so automating clicks would be fairly likely to miss pages with how they have it set up now.
Yeah, the entire screen is just one big canvas now. It's fairly trivial to get rid of all the blank space with a Photoshop action. I'm trying to write a script that would basically run that action on an entire folder and then split it into individual pages, but I haven't worked with Photoshop scripting before so it's taking a while.
Photoshop's scripting code is based on JavaScript isn't it? If so you at least already have experience, I've always wanted to write some scripts for Photoshop but since I never learned anything other than C it never happened.
It was an internal function rather than JQuery.
Slices, nigger. You don't need to script this shit.
Fuck that shit.
>but I don't know if there's any way to tell that the canvas is done loading so automating clicks would be fairly likely to miss pages
It does. I'm ok with using the arrow keys to move between pages.
How does we know an actual height and wide size of single page?
I used that script, never had any problems with skipped pages. EBJHooker is more likely to give me skipped blank pages in my experience.
It is, I just have to look up the names of everything I want to use.
I'll see what I can do, I've got other stuff I need to be working on though so it might not be tonight.
I wanted to try and get the page numbers correct for the split images, I doubt you can do that without scripting.
Crop away everything transparent and divide the width by two.
Just use imagemagik or PIL desu.
It doesn't have to be just one user proofing the whole thing. People can correct what jumps out at them as I storytime it. I'll start about an hour from now.
I've been trying to get the series translated for years, and finally decided to do a retranslation to see if getting it tl-checked would be easier. If someone decides that translating it from scratch is a better use of his time, I won't complain.
I just revisited Comic Earth Star after a long time and suddenly they've changed their viewer from Actibook to whatever the fuck PUBLUS is so OMD doesn't work anymore.
How do I download this thing now?
I used this ones.
pastebin.com
You would probably want to contact elemhunter, he said he scanned Nejishiki as well but it looks like their TL bailed since that was a while ago.
Speaking of OMD, did anyone ever try to make it be able to rip from EBJ again or was the code for the version that could never made public?
>expires in 7 minutes
Nigger, calm the fuck down. That one is not hidden or anything like that. The dl link is in the source code.
gist.githubusercontent.com
If you're going to work on munou no hito, just contact habanero. I'm more than willing to check over a script for Tsuge.
Last I could contact him (OMD user) is last summer.
No, he's still around. Nejishiki is just on the back burner because I haven't had time to clean it with all the various projects going on.
Damn it man, I just wanted to download some comic.
Thanks anyway.
I hate PUBLUS readers too user.
You'll notice it also doesn't work, there's a good chance the reason the viewer's been changed so many times lately is because people are making their scripts public.
If that's what you would prefer, then ok. I suppose Elemhunter will know who you are.
How do you import a manga anyways. I am a newfag and have to ask.
check the buyfag thread
If they aren't h just buy them from Amazon JP.
