I will admit to have found the dungeon start of the series more fun just cause it was super tense and shit but the plot now is good in a different way. I feel like shit whenever Ariel comes up since I'm super worried for her. And having some characters spices things up so it's not just Kumo all the time. And seeing her get serious in the latest chapters was hype as fuck seeing as I imagine people have been waiting for that for ages.

She was working for Kumo the entire time. Kumo wanted to slaughter the majority of the kingdom's nobility since they were puppets of the elves and she used Sue to do that. She manipulated Sue to her side by telling her that she'd "overlook" Shun if Sue obeyed her (not that she was ever planning on harming Shun to begin with). Yuugo was brainwashed by Kumo via a literal spider crawling into his skull and brought onto the plan and later used charm on Sue to ensure she wouldn't hesitate at the time of execution and to give Sue a plausible cover as the victim of his manipulations.

Kumo also pointed Sue in the direction of gaining one of the Ruler skills and she finally gained Greed as of the latest chapter after Yuugo died and relinquished the skill. She's probably going to do something crazy now.

All Ruler skills fuck with your head in obvious ways based on the sin/virtue they're named after. Greed and Lust made Yuugo a greedy, horny motherfucker, Kindness turned Shun from a regular nice guy into the incredibly annoying moralfag he currently is, Wrath made Wrath REALLY FUCKING ANGRY, etc.

Heresy Immunity negates the side effect of Ruler skills since it prevents anything from corrupting your soul, so Kumo inadvertently saved herself from going batshit insane by acquiring Patience early, which gives you free Heresy Immunity on the side. She also made sure all of the Rulers on her side acquired the skill.
