Which anime did romance right?
I can't think of a single show with decent romance. It's either non-existent or completely cliché.

Except there were no Lesbos in the show you fucking newfag
Tasogare Otome
There was no romance in Hyouka
None.
It's been 8 years and no other show has handled romance as well as this. They need to show how friendship and companionship slowly grows into love.
>Hyouka
Fuck you and fuck your blueball endings. Also, fuck Kyoani.
>Are you kidding me?
No? Anime romance is finally becoming mature and it's glorious.
Kurisu didn't fall for Okabe because he wanted to save her, she was crushing on him for a while but he was too caught up on saving Mayuri. They even had an almost kiss moment in episode 10, before shit hit the fan.
>unrealistic sci-fi "I saved you know love me" bs is romance done right
so you didn't watch it
Your lie in april
Basically this. There's a reason this is called the biggest love story ever told.
yes, great chemistry, they would end up together even if they had normal lives
I'll never get why people like baiting and shitposting with this show so much.
It's a way of coping.
>Danna ga nani
If by "doing romance right" you mean make me suicidally depressed, you're right.
Golden Time
Baby steps. Though its more of a sports anime than romance, its pretty realistic
I liked it but I wouldn't say it's great romance
>Cross ange

Nice recommendation thread. I will say that Shirayuki was really good.
Saya-chan is very cute.
>obvious rec thread

Come on, niggers. You'd have to be in your first fucking week on Sup Forums to sincerely not know a decent romance.
>tfw no kouko
Everything ITT is garbage so it's likely anons are just giving recs ironically.
Obviously he meant Ange and Tusk and it is pretty good love development. Although it may be a bit too cliched for the thread
But it wasn't cliche at all. Ange literally grows from being a dumb ojou to a dominant yet caring skillful girl that grabs her man by force while also getting a girlfriend.
Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai.
The slow progression and the way it evolved and happend naturally. Fuck the ending though.
Sure, overall it was good but some of the scenes and antics involved were too silly and cliched I guess. The constant crotch landings, alone on a deserted island - twice, sucking out snake poison etc
Not anime but this.
Shame it didn't get more than just OVA.
Tenjou Tenge?
Not even kidding. It's strange how this weird as fuck shonen had a relatively casual and realistic portrayal of some of the intimate relationships in it.
Nodame Cantabile? What in your opinion is decent romance anyway? You can find cliches everywhere.
Why is she so big?

Kuzu no Honkai
Toradora
SAO during the Aincrad arc, it's literally the only thing that anime did right
How is it a decent romance? They dont even get married or move in together 10 years later.
Ore Monogatari
they have to make a tv show about this now
Magical bike girl?
best rom-com hands down...
Yes, pretty much. The fact they sacrificed so much for each other just proves how much they love each other.
Real Drive. No kidding.
>chemistry
Nice buzzword that means exactly nothing other than "i subjectively like how these two interact". People try to use "chemistry" to explain why something is good, when it means literally nothing.
Kick bad dude and get yo girl.
Simple is not bad.
In general, series where a couple gets together early on and their relationship is the main focus of the series are best romances by default.

>it's good because I subjectively like it
You must not understand what the word good means. That, or you enjoy making yourself look retarded. The problem is morons like you trying to quantify "chemistry" as some kind of measurement.
Good is not objective, and you cannot provide any useful definition of it that is objective.
> The problem is morons like you trying to quantify "chemistry" as some kind of measurement
I'm not the first guy you responded to, nor have either he or I tried to quantify it that way.
Hibike! Euphonium.
konosuba but you're gonna have to wait for s3
Is I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying any good?
I disagree, I personally think the best ones tend to be those that can develop the romance/dynamic well without that kind of formal relationship structure to lean on, e.g. Crest of the Stars.
Oh, okay. So you are trying to make yourself look retarded.
First off, yes, good is objective. Good is a measure of quality. And quality is a comparison to all things around it.

>I'm not the first guy
Literally just confirmed you're that guy. And even if you weren't, you tried to defend the misuse of a word. So you're equally in the wrong.

Huh? You jus made yourself look ridiculous. Well done.

Kek.
It's like saying Twilight is a good love story.
Nope. Even though Toradora was good, Golden time was pure garbage. Not even Kouko could salvage that piece of crap.
This counts. It's subtle, but at the same time it's very solid too.
It's good, because it's a parody of every shoujo stereotype. Not because of the romance aspect. Same goes for Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun.
Pic related.
>providing a definition of "quality"
I asked for one of "good." And no "it's a measure of how it compares to things around it" doesn't work, because you'd still have to say it's better or worse than them, which brings us back to defining good.
> Literally just confirmed you're that guy.
I think I'm going to stop talking to you now. Have a nice day.
>he hates her
>she starts by being obsessed with him but eventually gets the fuck over him
>everything ends up entirely unsatisfying for absolutely everyone
Sounds like a realistic romance to me.
Literally none of them. 0.
Anime is geared to appeal to the lowest common denominator of japanese society. Either children and teenagers, or adult otaku.
The latter are the ones that have money to spend, so this is the target audience of love stories anime most of the time. Also the only other target demographic interested in love stories are shoujo series, but they won't have good writing since their audience is teenaged girls.
Anyways, these otaku are the kind that rejected reality and decided that investing his effort and energy on fantasy worlds would make him happier, since he was rejected by the real world. For these anime, anything resembling irl logic makes the otaku reject the whole series, like the girl having an ex, or the guy being a not-mary sue that isn't a bland piece of shit that's liked by everyone for no reason.
Japan will never produce a good love story anime as long as it's audience is teenaged girls and autists.
Confirmed for having down syndrome. Did you not even read what you're replying? Good is a MEASURE of quality, you moron. Quality means nothing by itself.
Amagami
?
What is love? Autistically speaking.
baby don't hurt me
>Which anime did romance right?
Spice and Wolf did it closest especially with the gradual way it grows outwards from any type of initial first look attraction.
Otherwise, the Super Lovers anime series.
A chemically reaction in the brain brought about by certain electrical pulses in a defined region of the temporal lobe.
>the Super Lovers anime series
I've always liked Miku and Hibiki being a sort of established couple, mainly for their Season 1 interactions
like everything with Symphogear, ignore GX existing
This. Mahou shoujo anime often do romance surprisingly well.
I am waiting for Tsurezure.

Amagami SS has quite a few.
Working!! takes a while, but the payoff is there.
Rokka no Yuusha, while being kinda shit, had the best couple of the season.
Anyone with sense is not feeling into the rec thread.
but taiga loved ryujii since the 2nd episode user.
Still fuck man I watched toradora 8 times and I love it.
