I think something with Keroro is possible. Sometimes they're included in random stuff like promo images or the upcoming card game packs due to being created by Mine Yoshizaki and so not needing special licenses for them.

GiTS is another matter though since it's a completely separate license.

Please take this as constructive criticism, but writing in the same manner as you talk to a buddy makes for difficult reading - difficult as in it takes a bit of effort because my brain has to 'start' and 'stop' too many times while reading. Does Boss really have actual AI though? The fact that it doesn't even talk with Friends suggests his behavior is rather restricted.

They also could be programmed to avoid Sandstar. The Tachikoma literally had to dig themselves into it before transforming.

I am not sure. It may entirely be possible that the surprise of ep11 is the transformation of lucky beast into friend form.

Boss not understanding friends seems kind of inconsistent. He has responded to questions asked by Serval, but only when Kaban is there as well.

It's just dawned on me that now that we've cleared all the OP content we are entering completely unknown territory.

Boss is not an AI - it can carry a conversation with Kaban. It just offers prerecorded inforgrams about the animals and information about places and things.

It is really suspicious how quickly they glossed over the fact the owls gave Kaban-Chan this box.

Only in the game, which doesn't really help the point of whether those rules for Sandstar work in the anime.

However, even in the game, there are some issues. Cerval says they feel like her past self under the Queen, so they might be closer to Cerulians than to Friends even though they're friendly, which explains why they don't look as human as the actual Friends and weren't playable characters in the game.

There's also the issue that they only appear in the 2nd main story, which ends with a big "was it a dream?" ending. Serval finds them afterwards after "waking up", but Mirai says they were just special robots built for a movie and the one recording their voices was Margay. Afterwards when Serval leaves they act in a suspicious way though - with Mirai crying of happiness and the Beasts talking among each other, like a huge crisis had been solved, but they don't specifically reference the supposed dream's events either and Serval had disappeared and was found unconscious after a while, so everyone had a reason to be worried and then relieved even if the 2nd plot was a dream.

It seems like Boss is not supposed to not 'understand' friends, but more to ignore them unless at the presence of a human, for whatever reason.

It's almost as if you weren't supposed to notice it but that it would definitely come up later.
