Read William Albrecht's "Soil Fertility and Animal Health" at soilandhealth dot org, get a quality mehlich-3 test if you're anywhere there's enough rain to produce a forest, top up your shit and everything grows the way it should. Actually you could set the land up while still working with minimal input of labor, sort of like a hobby or recreational land project. Once you have enough variety of fruit/nut trees established you can invite people to come and help out on the farm for the fun of growing your own high quality food.
Think about the fact that you could have 3 hazelnut trees for 50 dollar planted and within 2 years they produce thousands of dollars of hazelnuts that you can either pick up and eat/sell or leave for deer to come and eat; free meat.
Any way you look at it that 50$ a month on land gives you a lot of power over your own life that you didn't have before.

Motherfucker we are homesteading- just ate a meal of venison and dragon stir fry mix I grew in a rocket stove heated greenhouse. It was just 8 degrees and I'm actively picking greens so fast I can't eat them fast enough with our large family- and I started let's say 4 months ago, with no infrastructure and little capital.
That being said, I'm a botanist, so think whatever you want- pictures of our baby pigs are irrelevant, and I'm not sure pulling pictures of the rocket stove itself is worth fucking with SD cards.

I got a plot of land if you're interested- I need people and if we use it for exponential growth, once it hits the curve we'll have essentially a volkisch state.
It has to do with the area. The cheapest for the best land is in eastern tennessee- it's so rough the land's cheaper than in Yukon Alaska, but the soil is some of the richest in the world and it's a literal rain forest.

Working on making this a reality in Southern California. We have a house on 1 acre, now has a working well (first thing I fixed) and a small seasonal creek. So far I have built 9 raised beds (plumbed up with irrigation), planted 10 fruit trees, and I just plumbed up and prepped an area for another 35 more trees (planting before spring). also have 8 hens (coyotes got the other 6). would like to try raising rabbits, don't think I have enough space for any larger livestock.
