Lupin III

You guys like Lupin? I like Lupin

These threads don't last long.

Why is the FPS of the 70s lupin shows seem lower than its contemporaries

2 of them are in the 70's, what do you mean?
depends.

...

they probably occur a bit too frequently

Rasputon is the best villain.

Probably won't get any lengthy discussions until the Goemon movie is subbed, honestly.

or until we get that blue jacket blu ray we were promised for months. Hoping for a june release.
Das not Mamo

it aint even dis nigga

How Many of the movies/tv specials have you watched? I've been watching them in order and I just watched Voyage of Danger, it was pretty good.

Voyage of Danger is one of the more decent ones. The cool thing about that particular film is it was directed by Masaaki Osumi who of course directed the pilot film and the first half of the green jacket series. He hasn't done anything since then though. Was cool of him to come back.

I've seen almost all the movies with the exception of from russia with love and a couple of the movies from the mid 00's. Surprisingly a good amount of decent films. the ones I expected to be real mediocre like Alcatraz and eternal mermaid end up being pretty good.

The best movies are of course the old ones that still feature Yasuo Yamada, but you're still in for a treat with some of the 90's amd 00's ones.

also do you have any more of those collages?

I have one for each movie up to Voyage, It helps me remember what happened in each one.

...

...

...

I love Lupin, but I can't stand watching it since Goro Naya died. Zenigata was my favorite character, but he's just not right without Goro.

...

...

...

That is all of them for now.
Also if anyone is wondering
Castle > Fuma > Mamo > Voyage = Babylon > Liberty > Napoleon > Russia = Hemingway.

Is the vs. Detective Conan film more a Lupin film, a Conan film or actually fairly even

that's what the recent dubs are for. It's not the same without Yasuo or Goro and their great chemistry so no point trying.

well there are 2 films. one is a TV special, the other is a theatrical film.

I'd say they are a little bit more conan heavy, but they don't lack in the Lupin department. There is some good scenes with conan and Jigen.

The 1st one is better of the 2 though. Very decent movie in fact. The theatrical film I felt was a little mediocre.

>Liking napoleon, liberty, and russia more than hemingway papers
Hemingway is one of the best Lupin movies period. napoleon and russia are considered one of the most mediocre while liberty is just okay. Such odd taste.

Do Lupin fans actually like Cagliostro?
I thought it was popular with normalfags because it's the precursor of Ghibli movies.
I hate it's cheap sentimentalism. That's not what Lupin is all about.

It's as far removed from Monkey Punch's Lupin as you can get, but I still think it's pretty good. It's a competently paced movie with great scenery porn.

I still prefer Secret of Mamo as a Lupin movie but I admit it some of it is redundant and not nearly as well animated.

Have the pink jacket blu-rays been ripped yet?

>It's hundreds of episodes
I want to watch Lupin but goddammit.

It's different, but I love it.

This. I got through green jacket easy peasy but now I'm stuck in red jacket hell and I don't see myself getting through it any time soon. I enjoy the episodes when I actually watch them but its hard for me to binge something this long when the episodes are so similar to each other.

So far the episode I enjoyed the most from red jacket was the one where Lupin and Jigen were being harassed by the little girl for the princess stamp. It was good fun and different enough from all the other episodes I've watched so far that it stuck out in my memory.

I'd also like to add that I wish Goemon was a more utilized character, as he is my favorite.

Why was pink jacket hated so much?

Overrated.

It's not even that much different than a lot of the Lupin movies that came after it. Even blue jacket Lupin acts very much like Cagliostro Lupin. At the time it came out, Lupin was the oldest he's ever been. They even flashback at a time where he acted more like the Lupin we're familiar with but the film made it very clear this was an older Lupin. He's grown up and now cares more for others. Why can't we just look at it as good character development?

Also lets be honest. There wasn't a faithful adaption of Lupin as a character after Green Jacket series. Even red jacket made him a lot different.

stop crying and watch it. Not like you have anything better to do/watch.
>I'd also like to add that I wish Goemon was a more utilized character, as he is my favorite.
you're one of "those" people who feels obligated to like the dullest character. His job is to cut shit when needed. That's it.

He's not the dullest character and I like him because he's a handsome, stoic samurai and thats my type. I feel like you only think he's dull because he doesn't get a lot of meaningful screentime but he's a cool dude as far as I'm concerned.

>handsome
>japanese man
no such thing.

also Goemon gets plenty of screentime in 2 movies that are all about him. He's just a moe character. He has no real personality. He takes pride in his heritage and does not really care for anything else. There isn't much to his character nor would there be no matter how much focus is put on him. The guy has had more movies made about him than Jigen and Zenigata. He's not some great character who's being held down.

>stop crying and watch it. Not like you have anything better to do/watch.
>Implying
But in all seriousness, being somewhat episodic series I think I'll rather cry.

it's not. I think some people are turned off by how cartoony and slapstick it got. the animation and designs became very exaggerated and zany. The storytelling was still the same as the red Jacket series. still plenty of great episodes. It's a very good series that wanted to look more like monkey punches drawings.
episodic is a good thing. easy to knock down 5 eps a day without worrying about some kind of main storyline you have to follow. It's a cozy series that should be watched while eating or relaxing. It's not something you should feel forced to get through as fast as possible. If you aren't watching it to enjoy it, then why bother.

I have every movie, and tv series..Aside from the Return of Pycal on my external

anyone subbing the goemon movie?

I've been watching Blue Jacket lately. What are the general thoughts on it?

I thought Rebecca was fucking annoying at first but I've warmed up to her a little. I warmed up to Nyx too. I like how dedicated to his family the man is.

The Da Vinci stuff, however, is the most absolutely retarded shit I've ever seen.

Someone always subs Lupin,it just takes time for a DVD release

the blurays are out, the raws are on nyaa.

then its just a matter of time..I can rewatch all of the movies again then

It's my favorite Lupin animated incarnation by a wide margin.

>not buying and supporting Lupin
no one is. wait for the BD release. That's Discotek's job. They also did Jigen's Gravestone.
it was AOTY.
>by a wide margin.
lets not get carried away. It's my favorite too, but stop having shit taste when there are others that are extremely good and come close.

>you're only allowed to like X as much as I say; not a speck more or you have shit taste
Fuck off.

Then stop acting like a filthy fucking casual.

why is Lupin so handsome?

I want to give Fujiko a back and front massage

Koike's version of Lupin wears way too much black. He's suppose to be stylish. Not some hipster in a generic punk band.

On a yakuza casino ship, you have to follow the dresscode.

look at that fucking chin. what were they thinking? Also whats with that extra bit of hair on the back of his neck. I thought we have move passed the days of slicked back hair Lupin.

also
Short haired Fujiko > boring long haired Fujiko.

Can't wait for this movie to come out here. Want to put it on my shelf next to my Gravestone release.

Lupin can always ask Goemon to give him a haircut

I regret looking at this image.

As do I.

When you watch it, your regret will vanish

it fucking better.

Goemon movie was very fun.

It sure was.

seriously what the fuck is going on with that chin. Why did they make it so ugly.

For sure.

Indeed.

You start sounding autistic.

that doesn't even make any sense.

also there is only one true Black jacket Lupin in a Goemon movie.

>Short haired Fujiko > boring long haired Fujiko.
this so much

I want to drink short haired fujiko's girl cum while she calls me useless.

I wish to know where Goemon film ranks among the best Lupin movies? obviously it's not gonna be top 5 but where does it stand against Walther P38, Missed by a Dollar and Jigen's Gravestone? I can picture it being better than first contact, but I don't see it being as good as Walther P-38.

Why do you people love Walther so much? It was like everything wrong with 90s. The final fight would be ok, but even that was copied from Bebop.

Bloodspray is not top 5, it's top 3.

>Why do you people love Walther so much?
because it's a good movie? emotional and action packed. Goes into detail with a Lupin we're not use to seeing.
>It was like everything wrong with 90s.
please explain.
>but even that was copied from Bebop.
you do realize Walther P-38 predates Bebop by a year right? it's funny to say Lupin would ever copy anything from bebop when bebop's biggest influence is Lupin. Watanabe even admitted himself the crew is basically Lupin's gang and they all share many of the same traits.
>Bloodspray is not top 5, it's top 3.
Okay now I know you're just messing around. Koike Lupin is good. It's a breathe of fresh air, but it's not worthy of top 3.

>handsome
>japanese man

Goemon isn't even my favorite character, but denying he's a cutie is factually incorrect.

>Okay now I know you're just messing around. Koike Lupin is good. It's a breathe of fresh air, but it's not worthy of top 3.

Not that dude, but it sounds like he's being serious when he says it's top 3 material. If it's honestly a good movie, then I don't see any reason it couldn't be.

But, honestly man, you have a real bad habit of writing off opinions that you don't agree with as being fundamentally less "correct." It's kind of grating.

>factually incorrect.
that makes no sense. Goemon isn't even the second cutest of the group. His pale skin, droopy lifeless eyes, and his long messy black hair makes him look like a dork.

that aside I would just like to say the backgrounds for this film are absolutely gorgeous. Lupin has always been known for it's overly detailed backgrounds, but man does it especially show in this one. They're pretty enough to hang on a wall.

>If it's honestly a good movie, then I don't see any reason it couldn't be
I'm just checking people's expectations. We all know Koike Lupin gets overrated. Even Jigen's Gravestone gets praised to death when it's just a decent OVA. going around and claiming top 3 material for it's pretty good sequel is just ridiculous and you disappoint other people who go in it. Not saying you can't have your own personal opinion, but don't try to pass it off as something objective.

>His pale skin, droopy lifeless eyes, and his long messy black hair makes him look like a dork.

Nigga, that's the appeal.

> I'm just checking people's expectations.

Yeah, but...why? It's not your place to go around telling people what and how they should enjoy things.

Like, if they go into a Lupin movie because I said it was great and they come out of it disagreeing with me intensely, that's not my fucking problem.

Why are you so mean to Goemon?

>if they go into a Lupin movie because I said it was great and they come out of it disagreeing with me intensely, that's not my fucking problem.
so it's okay to be an asshole with shit taste and ruin everyone else's fun. Got it.

>tfw no baylon Blu Ray
it's even more sad knowing suzuki just passed away.

No. I said that if somebody watches a movie on my recommendation and doesn’t enjoy it as much as I do, that it's not my responsibility.

Jesus christ though, you're a fucking cunt.

Weren't all the Lupin movies released on blu-ray in a box set or was it just Cagliostro?

No you're saying it's okay giving someone high expectations to something over bias and shitty opinions instead of being honest with a critical point of view. Weren't you ever taught manners?

I don't know. If they were all released on Blu Ray obviously it is a japanese release which is almost useless to me. I know for a fact Babylon wasn't released here.

>No you're saying it's okay giving someone high expectations

God forbid anybody be excited over anything. But anyway, no, that wasn't what I saying. I don't know what's so hard to get about this.

Nobody has a personal responsibility to tone themselves down because some faggot thinks they've got shit taste. End of story.

A Japanese release is at least of some use, since that means somebody can import it, rip the raws, and have somebody apply the subtitles to them.

>mfw people actually thought Blue Jacket took place after Cagliostro.

ROOPAN... HES A NICE MAN

Hey, remember that time Lupin fought the vampiric twin sister of Jesus Christ?

...

member that time Lupin wore an ancient Egyptian mask and it turned him into some sort of zombie like thing and it was 2spooky?

How about that time a gourmet wanted to eat Lupin's brain but had him force-fed to make him fat first?

or the time when Lupin decided to let himself stay in prison for an entire year just so he could embarrass zenigata by breaking out moments before his execution.

Or that time Lupin, Jigen, Fujiko, and Goemon cosplayed characters from Journey to the West and then were forced to be shogi pieces by two guys in giant red and blue ogre robots.

or that time Lupin and Jigen spent a night trying to save a mute girl who was tatted up from head to toe while fujiko tried to chase after her too and almost purposely tried to kill all of them including herself.

Or that time two guys tricked Lupin into thinking he had an evil alter-ego that was killing people and almost drove him to suicide.

or that time when Lupin was being fucked with by a vampire looking guy who traveled back hundreds of years using his time machine to kill him because his future descendant stole his girlfriend.

Or that time Lupin had to deal with his zombie ex-girlfriend that had been resurrected by her nazi father.

soon

Is this a reference to that chapter where Lupin did a heist while completely shitfaced?

Your man will return home from war

probably not since he got shitfaced after the heist.

Fucked up.

why is Koike's choice of music so shitty? was it too difficult for him to keep the music jazzy instead of the forgettable funk rock shit he's been tainting these movies with?

I do like Lupin and I do like its soundtrack regardless what most people say
