Just finished katanagatari a few days ago and can't stop thinking about the ending.
What was her endgame?
Just finished katanagatari a few days ago and can't stop thinking about the ending
To make history.
wow it's been a year now since I got up to epsiode 6 and just didn't watch any further for no good reason
The later episodes get much more interesting, though there were parts of the story that could have been handled better. I'd still recommend finishing it
She wanted to fulfill the prophecy but was just as happy to deny it. That's why in a story about people failing, she couldn't really lose no matter what the outcome was.
to become a sheath
To fuck Shichika.
To play around to her heart's content.
To live and no die pointlessly
Also who fucking survived at the end? Her. Armor Pirate king. That one girl who had the knife?
I didn't really get the part about his sister's explanation and motive. RIP Insects. RIP a lot of people. At least that one in the tower with the Seitou Hakari got what they deserved.
She was too powerful for her body to handle. Her life was suffering. She wanted to end it all in a worthy fashion.
The little girl and the one with the wooden sword too. Basically everyone who was willing to give up and move on with life.
Little girl?
Why exactly did the princess order the mask dude to kill Togame again? Also shame we never got to see his face
But we did.
The Phoenix is wearing it.
The yeti girl. The last of the Itezora
She was revealed as the daughter of a rebellion leader. Her execution was ordered decades ago.
She didn't. It was something he did of his own accord due to his loyalty to her. He felt that with Togame gone, the Princess would have a better future.
Wait, what exactly was the relationship between the two? Didn't they say at one point that they were the same person?
She is Yasuri Nanami. EVERYONE from the Yasuri family die the same way - death by the hands of a Yasuri relative (Shichika killed his father, his father killed his mother, etc). She wished to die, but she wanted to die by her brother's hand. So she set off to find a reason for Shichika to kill her.
She wanted to fulfill that wish for a long, long time, something that even her father denied her because he wasn't at all powerful enough to kill Nanami. And by collecting Akito Bita and by enraging Shichika for cutting Togame's hair, she found the reason to give Shichika to kill her.
In the end, it was a good thing that she got her wish. Or was it a bad thing?
In any case, Shichika also wanted to die since he lost his wielder, but there were no other Yasuri around to kill him. And so he sought to fight against and get killed by the one who he thought who could kill him - the one who killed his wielder - Souda Emonzaemon. Too bad, Emonzaemon wasn't a Yasuri.
I wish Penguin was here too.
I haven't read the books or anything, but as I understand Emon used to be one of the Ninjas, then Ho-oh stole his face (the same way he stole the other ninjas arm). Them being the 'same person' I assume isn't literal, they've just shared a face.
Shichika's attempt at dying was also him becoming a person. It was the first time he disobeyed Togame's orders, allowing him to take the last step and become more than just a sword
the fight in the anime was kind of cheezy, but the it had somewhat implied that Shichika wasn't able to push himself to 100%
just goes to show how OP he was at that point
When was that implied? I'm pretty sure she sent him off with the intention of having Togame killed.
I genuinely upset when Emonzaemon killed him
Just finished this series tonight. Wut do
Post best girl.
To fulfill the will of her ancestor, and to deny the will of everyone else.
Really love the artstyle
don't mind me I'm just going to post the best girl
also one of the few people who aren't obsessed with the past
It was pretty brutal with him shoving the gun into his bleeding mouth.
Shit up everything because Japan would destroyed by nukes.
I found it cathartic. His voice was annoying and he didn't do anything interesting.
Kanatagatari ending is basically the author fucking with the audience, as it was the case for most of the time in the show.
Initially, I got really emotional with the ending and thought was amazing, however, later on thinking about the series I came to the realization that it was forced in order to get a emotional reaction from the audience and fuck with its expectations.
Basically
She wanted to have fun.
Her ancestor wanted to stop Japan from getting rekt, but unfortunately the strength of America's Manifest Destiny is way too strong
