Detective Conan

Young genius detectives are springing up like mushrooms as of lately

...

Sera is an overrated smelly boy.

Wait a sec, isn't that guy one of Yaiba's opponent in the Nobunaga tournament?

Yes, he's from chapter 300~ or so.

I would expect him to be the actual love of Momiji, and that she mistook Heiji for him due to the same haircut and being good at kendo

Good thing too, what with Japan's murder rate inexplicably skyrocketing. You can't leave hundreds of murders to one sleeping detective.

...

I won't be surprised if the nihon police will become obsolete soon

eyo

...

...

I really wonder if chapter 1000 will deliver.

Nope

Gosho did say we will see Shinichi again. That's always fun.

Shinichi never left

...

>tfw she'll lose
Why even live?

Gotta hope Ran takes a mortal wound in place of Shinichi in the final confrontation

There's still time

So, since the conclusion of the Bourbon arc I had this realization that the writing (indirectly) is pretty good for the fans.
Granted, I haven't really delved into anything similar (or "better", etc) than Conan so I might just be preaching to a choir here.

My realization is this: Aoyama structured the plot in such a way to clinch generic spoilers and also allow various interpretations of certain points in the plot (and assigning people to "camps").
Barring things like hard Gundam references,
>Akai is "killed". Camps: Alive, Dead, Unsure
>Subaru introduced Camps: Is Akai, Not Akai, Unsure
>Scar Akai appearances (later revealed to be two characters swapping at different instances)
>repeat for most critical points throughout the arc (up until they're resolved)

Prior arcs felt more linear in this regard, where the camps were not only obvious but limited in number.
For instance, Araide isn't a huge deal in the Vermouth arc so fans are heavily baited into Jodie and her actions.

I could be completely wrong, or giving it more praise than warranted.
There's probably people, including myself, that constantly switched camps and others that stuck with their original ones as long as they could.

Trying to get into this show. With 835 eps currently, is there any plot or villain of the week?

Worth, or only because of nostalgia?

When are we getting more Haibara teasing Conan?

What if he dies before he draws 1000?

There is both plot and villain of the week. It's worth it, but take it slow. You'll burn yourself out way too fast.

>With 835 eps currently,
853

>is there any plot or villain of the week?
Yes, no.
There's per-arc villains, and then the overarching villain.

The more you put into the series the more you'll get out.
It's a worthy climb.

I think you might be giving him a little too much credit, but I do agree with your analysis. I just hope the payoff is decent.

Well correction. If by villain of the week you mean scooby doo style the yes.

But they're human too!

ty

When do you plan on starting?

The first 5 seasons (up to episode 123) are available dubbed in English, after that you'll be nip only.
There's no specific advantage, but English is comfy at times.

The first 5 seasons also have really sporadic pacing and focus more on just building the cast, so a standard "3 ep rule" becomes "5 season rule" (where the plot takes off).

If every story took place over one day and they once a week, how many years would have passed at this point?

Most of the manga cases are 2-4 chapters, so off the bat you're looking at a rough 300~500 actual cases.
A majority of those short cases are adapted into single episodes, if you were wanting to calculate those and the anime originals aren't canon.

However, some cases span multiple days and some take place in the past (like Shinichi's first case, New York).

Maybe we should just trust Aoyama, it hasn't even been one year.

But smart phones exist now.

To be fair, if Conan stuck itself in the stone age it would alienate new viewers anyway.

It's on both sides of the fence. Floating timelines are great.

Although there are benefits to adhering to a specific time period.

I'm reading Kara no Shoujo, a muder-mystery-ish visual novel, that takes place in 1956 in a post-war Japan.
It's painfully obvious modern technology would have prevented a lot of the murders that occurred thus far, namely cellphones.

>It's painfully obvious modern technology would have prevented a lot of the murders that occurred thus far, namely cellphones.
That actually is a somewhat big turnoff.

I mean, modern technology destroys basically all classic mysteries. You think And Then There Were None would've happened if people had cell phones, or the Hound of the Baskervilles would've been scary if somebody filmed it and put it on youtube?

I understand that Aoyama doesn't put a lot of effort into making distinct face but this is kinda getting annoying.

>Okita Shoushi
>Okita Souji
Really, Gosho?

At least his nose is decent.

That's true. But it's also a skill making a fantastic mystery that avoids all modern surveillance.

It's no mystery who best girl is

Yeah, Ran.

Close

He is proto-shinichi that appears in Yaiba.

Tough we do have 3 essentially same heroine accross three title (Yaiba, Kaito Kid, DConan)

I miss Kaito.

Seems like it'd be more Gary Stu.
Not only do you need to get away with murder, but now you need to hack the NSA THEN do it.

So how many murders have happened in conan

Japan sucks in his universe

Nigger please. Its no different than LA in Columbo or Cabot Cove in Murder, She Wrote.

It's even more crazy when you consider how little time has passed in universe.

Nigger like no time has passed in Conan.

It's been at least one day (though that hasn't been confirmed)

The only people that actually get annoyed by that little detail haven't actually watched the entire series.

Who said I am annoyed?

Point is hundreds of murders have happened.

Where do I even watch this?

Again, no different than any other mystery show.

comfiest episode?

first 123 episodes or so are on all popular video services in english or japanese dub
754+ are on crunchyroll sub only
in-between torrents/dcc/streaming/crying

the waiting room one in the 800s is pretty comf
a two part would have been nice

Will this end before One Piece?

not if Oda's """""world building""""" has anything to say about it

I mean, not really. I guess it'd be harder to pull off in the major cities, but you can get away with stuff in more rural areas. Plus, the DC world doesn't look like it has much for surveillance.

>"""""world building"""""
I used to like One Piece a lot, but this really makes me sad whenever I read the latest chapters.

>Plus, the DC world doesn't look like it has much for surveillance

You kidding? I hear "bohan camera" or whatever every other episode.

Fine, let me rephrase. There isn't any meaningful surveillance.

Well there IS. But Conan doesn't get involved in cases where its obvious that camera footage caught a guy in the act. That doesn't make for a good mystery.

Any day you want to get the old episodes, Crunchyroll

>paying

>there IS
[citation needed]

Sera is super cute!

Why is she eating his eye?

Its common sense.
Kogoro and Conan aren't involved in every single case that happens.
I have to think the Police Force is somewhat competent and can catch crooks on their own.

In conan's world, at least 1 murder per three week.

depend whether its standard 3 chapter arc or long arc tough.

>In conan's world, at least 1 murder per three week.
There's no way 5+ years has passed.

Its only been about 1 year. Maybe a little bit less. 11 months at the very least.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. It's been a year and a half.

The manga started in Jan/Feb time frame and we just had christmas.
Its been 11 months.

Is this a new character or has he appeared before ?

I had the same exact reaction looking at the raws. I thought it was a female Shinichi.

Character is from chapter 314, face was already decided back then.

They never said Okita is a detective. The more important issue here is that the old man on the bench is Rum.

...

Question- the series has been going on for so damn LONG-

Shouldnt Shinichi already have graduated?
Shouldnt Conan already have aged to be a teenager?

How many murders can this damn comic have?
Japan has one of the LOWEST murder rates in the world, for fuck's sake.

Only 11 months have passed canonically.
So there were murders practically everyday.

Heiji have solved over 1000 cases by the age of 17 for benchmark

So, is the writer stupid?

Or is his Japan this hellish deathscape where murders and assassinations are a commonplace thing in Japan?

Conan is literally the one solving every single murder in Japan.

Threadly reminder that it's universally agreed Haibara is the best girl already. The author just needs to give in.

Given that there's been enough murders to warrant multiple high school detectives I'd say it's the latter. I mean these mysteries can be really clever after all.

Stop Gosho to add useless characters.

That is actually Shinichi.

He's not Oda.

RUM RELEVATION WHEN?

WHO IS THE BOSS?

I OUGHT TO KNOW AFTER 35349684096845 CHAPTERS

REEEEEE

We'll know who Rum is soon. The boss will come in about ~250 chapters.

But that's just Shinichi with long hair.

And a wooden sword

AND MY AXE

Faggot, next time you want to creat a thread or post about conan character atleast read the fucking post in that thread.
I already fucking post it on earlier conan thread before this and OP still pretend he's shinichi.

READ THE FUCKING POST. THIS CHARACTER ALREADY EXIST EVEN BEFORE YOU FUCKING BORN FAGGOT.

He is a participant in the Oda Nobunaga tournament and fought with Yaiba in the fourth round. He's a gifted swordman who is also very laid-back and kind and always knows when to stop. He wanted to win this tournament so that he could fulfill the promise with his grandfather that he would only quit kendo if he won. His skills clearly surpass Yaiba in their fight that even Musashi acknowledged him as a true genius. Before he met Yaiba he was pretty fed up with kendo because it's too easy for him, but he later changed his mind because of Yaiba's perseverance and determination in the fight. Okita forfeited the match with Yaiba despite having dealt Yaiba a lot of severe injuries while he himself was not injured, because he knows if he continues, he will lose, and he also said to Yaiba that he won't try to give up kendo anymore.

No, I know. That doesn't change the fact that he looks exactly like Shinichi.

It's fucking Aoyama everyone looks like shinichi. Why the fuck did you complain it now?
I mean I get it if it's 'another' character that he created that looks like shinichi, but he already fucking exist before and actually an older character than most of the shinichi look alike.

Why do you fucking complain now faggot?

Because he's finally reappeared. He could have aged a little, but nope.
