I wouldn't call it his best work. The seventh episode is fucking phenomenal, and the closest thing to an entire David Lynch movie being condensed into an entire episode apart from Twin Peaks. After that, it was really obvious that Satoshi Kon was more preoccupied with weird scenarios instead of the story's characters.
