Basically this, the main thing to note is EP8 is rewritten and contains the full answer as well as many other scenes. It is a better ending overall even if it sacrifices the idea the author wanted to try.

It's great. The VN is pretty much mandatory if you want all the details and more content of the story, but the manga in itself is great and you should read ep 7-8 after finishing the VN at least.

How did the nips feel about Higurashi and Umineko?

I got interested in it mostly from seeing Beatrice and Kinzo face posting a bunch through the years. I just wasn't a VN player at all until very recently.

I wanted to watch the anime after the VN and heard the adaptation was trash so I didn't bother. Though with Higurashi I only watched the adaptation but I don't know how much worse it was compared to the VN but i know I don't hear people complain about it as much as Umineko.
