Odafags, name ONE[1] thing you don't like and/or are critical of in the series

Too easy, Rebecca.

ODA, WHERE'S MY NIGGA ZORO?

Pell bullshit

I should have expected Odafags to have shit taste

I love Pudding.

Little did OP know I am the hacker known as Sup Forums, and I have taken control of his web camera and snapped a photo of him.

Pell bullshit, everything Rebecca and Fishman Island pacing to name a few.

Jinbe, that stupid FAT FISH

she will follow lola's example and flee sending the plan to hell

Leave Katakuri to me!

Whole cake island arc.

Asura, Dressrosa's pacing

The anime can be pretty shit sometimes. But that's Toei's fault. Oda shoulda gotten a better studio/company though.

The fanbase

Pudding is actual dogshit compared to Smoothie.

Not liking those colors

Make a couple different ones and post. That one was done on her reveal day.

official will probably be something citrus-y.

I just want a white beret so I can think heso every time she shows up

I'm really worried she's just going to be completely sidelined, she's easily the best character introduced this arc but so far Oda has purposely avoided giving her any action and even though she's supposed to be like one of the strongest pirates in the entire world, Oda hates having attractive females be good fighters

I think Sanji should die in this arc. Jimbei is more likely but expected at this point. The first real Yonko arc that has been a cakewalk so far needs an ACE moment to set the arc apart and give post-timeskip One Piece a landmark moment that I think it badly needs. Is this the most hype moment post-timeskip, the calm before the tea party?

>the calm
is this ever the most hype part of anything?
I'd say the doffy fight was more hype than the calm right now

Definitely wrong on that one.

From Hancock all the way back to Miss Doublefinger, it's Oda giving the pretty ladies all the action. While oafs except for Big Mom herself hardly get any action and are used as quick jobbers.

the powercreep in terms of both bounties and the kind of shit the characters are capable of

I might agree I just think there's so many different directions Oda can go with the tea party. Marines showing up? Ryoku showcase reveal? Any of the other Yonko or their crew showing up, including Jack? Will Oda stack the deck even further in Blackbeards favor as a precursor for a Blackbeard Pirates vs Marines war by him showing up by surprise? Bobbin returning to play a comically vital role in the outcome of the plan? Pekoms? Pudding? Germa? Guests?

oh and the scale of things. everyone started off in literal wooden boats, but now it feels like every major crew basically uses spaceships on water

Not a real issue, they started in east blue and progressed through mythical reputation grand line and are now in endgame new world.

Doublefinger and Kalifa "fought" Nami...those weren't fights, they were sex scenes...at least Robin had Skypeia but she's not been allowed to be in-character since then

Hancock never did pretty much any fighting, I seem to recall her biggest action scenes even being anime only at Marineford...she's very much like Smoothie will probably end up being, all implied strength that is never seen...I mean Hancock is like the one character confirmed to have Conqueror's Haki that has never been shown using it and based on what we have seen, it barely makes sense that she has it...meanwhile, her ugly sisters (Sandersonia is actually the hottest sister but not in-universe) got to have like a hardcore fight with Luffy and had real action

>powercreep
isn't this a major selling point of shounens though?
I don't think it would be entertaining to watch luffy fight aluvida tier villains and I feel like the new powers and strengths give a higher variance for the fight scenes, making them more interesting than "heres 200 doods with maces."

>sex scenes
I have no idea what kind of porn you consume but I imagine it isn't terribly interesting.

>every major crew basically uses spaceships on water

More like they don't use boats. Ironically everything in this pirating manga takes place on dry land and every boat that isn't the Sunny might as well be a generic marine battleship.

The problem is not the powercreep because the story wouldn't make sense without it, the problem is that retroactively, some of the earlier stuff doesn't make sense anymore (particularly the stuff that uses characters that come back in the story later)

But based on how everything was presented at the beginning of the series, if the New World was anything less than what it is now, the series would just be pointless, the first instance of getting fully blown the fuck out was Aokiji and even with the general powercreep of the world, we still haven't even seen like even five people that could beat him...the powercreep has yet to ever go beyond what was originally implied

>kill off Sanji
>Luffy dies of starvation

I don't want luffy to die so I'd rather Sanji live.

In all seriousness I don't see how they would ever replace him anyway if they killed him what with his unique rivalry with Zoro, cooking talents and respectable fighting ability. Would they just not get a new cook? Get some new character out of nowhere or have someone already there start cooking in his place? I can't see how him dying for an unexpected twist would be worth doing in the long run.

Softcore porn is a thing, kids like it and that's what One Piece is intended for

Carrot becomes the new cook

the problem with this is the amount of power and limitation that the dfs give.
If you have naval warfare it very quickly devolves to whoever can blow the other person's ship up the fastest so their df users drown.

But Ēsu was the New World moment, it would just ruin all the momentum this arc had on making the New World more than just a retread to have anyone die now

The people at Marineford were on the level of the top people in the entire world, Yonko commanders and Admirals and motherfucking Whitebeard,,,the whole point of the death was showing that Luffy was out of his league then but now Luffy would have been able to put up a fight with the best of them, he doesn't need to grow any more from loss, he just needs to start getting his feet wet and actually fighting people who put up a challenge...he tamed all the beasts on that island, now he needs to find something stronger because that's how he has always grown

carrot becomes the new mc

I agree with you in part but not on Sanji dying being a retread of Ace. It wouldn't be, but I understand some of what else you said. I would rather Sanji die than Luffy to actually beat Big Mom, that doesn't make sense to me and that's why I'm wondering what wild card power faction is going to show up unexpectedly.

But that's literally just regular naval warfare...blow up their ship so everyone drowns

And none of the most powerful devil fruit users would be affected by having their ship blown up, since they can get by just fine without a boat like Doflamingo or Aokiji...and then you have non devil-fruit users like Rayleigh who are also fine when their ship sinks, the devil fruit really doesn't make things unrealistic...the reason Luffy, Chopper and Brook drown is because they're retarded (also, if you're strong enough to take on a powerful DF user to sink their ship, you yourself are a powerful DF user and would have the same fear)

wouldn't it be best if nobody died though?
it puts the onus on big mom to go and find the straw hats which I think is a much more interesting and plausible victory for the straw hats. The problem with the yonkou is that they are all shown to be sitting still and amassing more and more power, which is pretty boring. forcing the yonkou to come attack the straw hats seems like a much better plan than running into the center of their base and fighting everything they have all at once.

Their plan isn't going to work. The Straw Hats will escape with the Vinsmokes, but Big Mom will live on, and attack Fishman Island with Germa soldiers/technology.

back in alabasta ace blew up like 5 warships with a single punch. The issue isn't that the ships would be the targets, it's how relatively flimsy the ships have been shown to be to the df powers. If a fight happens on water it's over in a fifth of a punch, which is too short to be cool or fun.

She'll declare the attack and found the Sunny pirates and portion of Strawhats Grand fleet defends it.

It would literally be exactly the same as Ace, the guy with royal lineage that he tried to keep secret gets found out and an absurd bounty is put on his head, he is then captured by one of the Worst Generation and turned over to the ones who want him dead, then Luffy goes against ridiculous odds, destroys institutions, just to rescue him and then he says he doesn't want to be rescued and has accepted death...and then he changes his mind and things are happy...and then he dies anyway...it would be way too similar to the point of absurdity and would taint one of the most important moments of the series

A whole bunch of convenient betrayals, that's what. Katakuri can't prevent them all. Like Big Mom said, we all have someone we want to kill. The Strawhats, Vinsmokes and Bege will get out in the confusion, Big Mom will squash the opposition and be like "Damn you Worst Generation!!!!".
I just want Pudding's eye to get dmaged. See what happens.

Those were wooden ships sailed by the fodder billions, not exactly setting the standard for the top Marines/Pirates of the new world.

Circumstances are entirely different, Sanji was actually given a choice once captured, Ace had no choice after he partied with Blackbeard. A ton of characters have royal lineage, an absurd bounty, and could qualify for an equally meaningless title as "member of worst generation" if Oda desired. Avoid over generalizations and dots.

See, but that's a guy with a Devil Fruit vs. people who don't have any...which makes sense, it's why there are such ridiculously strong people the further into the Grand Line you get

It's the same as Mihawk destroying Don Krieg's fleet to keep fodder from getting comfy in the Grand Line...but Ace wouldn't be able to destroy Garp's ship or Doflamingo couldn't destroy Aokiji's ship...and even if they did by surprise, it would still come down to who is stronger because they would finish their fight on the one ship that isn't destroyed and the winner would take that ship

>got to have like a hardcore fight with Luffy and had real action

They got jobbed as soon as Luffy went Gear 2. He suffered no serious injuries, and that's your best example.

Pudding

If anything the crews have been shown to get stronger since then, and if one dude on a makeshift jetski can blow up 5 ships then what could you do with 300 dudes on a single boat?

To the point about garp or aokiji I don't see why they couldn't I just think that the fight would end up being extremely volatile and rather than seeing the big dogs trade punches, which is a pillar of shounen manga, and instead people trading punches with ships that can't hit back in a meaningful way.

The whole idea of people who can't swim adventuring out to sea seemed to really capture the adventure/romance themes of One Piece, so I think it's a bit of a shame it's so marginalized.

Even at the higher tiers we've seen plenty of characters intercept enemy attacks, fly/walk on water or have abilities that can produce footing or defend. The majority of the Baratie took place amidst the wreckage of a ship.

You're ignoring all the important similarities and picking on the ones that are just suspiciously coincidental

Sanji and Ace were both sacrificing themselves for people they cared about rather than putting up a real fight for their own safety.

But somebody still needs as a ship, you can't just sink everyone else's ship and not expect them to take yours away from you, it's not like the second a ship is hit, everyone on it drowns

I honestly think the reason we don't see more of it is the strawhat's plot armor. If any of the islands they had gone to had been properly defended they wouldn't have made it into port and would have drowned at sea. It's a shame that it's marginalized to this degree but I feel like if it wasn't you'd have to really stretch to find a way for the strawhats to get to an island without drowning first.

It was more of a counterexample since it wasn't the point I was making

Ace never had a choice in the matter. He was ignorant to blackbeard's ploy and fell into his trap for the same reason Akainu killed him. In his despair he may have thought it'd be better if he was dead but he never had a choice in getting rescued or not, he was chained and knew nothing other than blackbeard was a punk prior. Sanji has a choice, albeit a very poor one with consequences for him that would be worse than his own death, but it was still his choice to go in the manner he did. Ace never had an opportunity to put up a fight until Oda already had him dead. Sanji's sacrifice would be a real thing, the same idea being applied to Ace doesn't hold up because his opinion on the matter is irrelevant and holds no influence on the outcome.

whenever a ship is sunk the objective of the battle becomes getting away with an intact ship, everyone on it might as well drown because they have no way to get to the next island (excluding specific dfs shown to do so, of which the strawhats have none).

Incredibly shy at killing off people. Just let this Pekoms piece of shit croak already.

So your problem is that people will die drowning rather than die fighting? Theoretically, if a battle is that big, one entire crew would all be killed anyway...devil fruits really have nothing to do with it.

The Strawhats have it incredibly well off compared to other pirates though, their boat has paddles and the ability to fly to get to land really quick. Luffy has always used Fuusen to block cannonballs, and they have good defensive options from Chopper's new guard point + Usopp's seeds ontop of generic fighting. Beating past some fodder should be easy, while things like Big Mom's ability to summon a storm or Blackbeard's ability to create tsunamis would pose big challenges until they get close enough to board.

>people will die drowning rather than die fighting
yes because it is a fighting manga not a drowning manga. People dying to random plots and accidents would feel out of place too.

strawhats vs. fodder is one thing but I feel like we've never had a problem showing that in some respect. An actual naval fight between two equally matched parties would be a nightmare to make feel impactful and maintain suspension of disbelief in my opinion.

Rebecca
Birdcage

Could the monster trio take on an admiral currently if they took one on together?

Ace fought Blackbeard and gave up himself because Blackbeard was going to go after Luffy otherwise...it's literally the exact same thing. They were both presented with the choice to let the people they care about die or give themselves up instead. Ace knew he was going to lose before the end of the fight, and could have effortlessly escaped but he didn't want Luffy to get hurt. The whole point of his death is it was to protect Luffy.

Would the monster trio ever fight together given how little Zoro and Sanji get along? I imagine they could but I can't see them working together as most of the fights seem to split up. The only one I can really remember the monster trio all fighting the same enemy was Oz on Thriller Bark and he was massive.

WB sank several New World Marine Battleships offscreen
most devil fruits wouldn't be able to do anything to protect their ships from a giant fireball

It all comes down to which Devil fruits would work well at sinking ships.
Some are good at it like WB, Fujitora, Vander Decken, Ace and most Logias. While most others like Machvise, Dazbones, Sugar and most Zoans would be terrible at it

>Ji brothers about to appear in anime
>mfw Toei has Hirata voice all of them

Well, so far the only ships we've had destroyed that had someone powerful on them was Jack the fishman...but he put himself in those situations because he knew he would be okay...nobody who is afraid to drown is going to risk a battle of that sort and anyone who can't protect themselves from getting into a fight is fodder and would never have gotten even close to the New World

When did Ace give up? Entei lost to darkness bomb, he got captured. Ace was a kid, Blackbeard was a veteran. I don't recall that subplot, maybe it's my memory.

Thriller Bark arc. The only good thing from that arc was Brook.

>hating TB

What? Ace only gave up because he lost. Not to save Luffy. He fought to protect Luffy and honour Whitebeard.

Machvise would literally be the best at it...but you know, the reason characters like Daz Bones or Sugar pair themselves up with captains like Crocodile or Doflamingo is because they know their captain can keep them from drowning

Nami is okay being on a ship in the New World because she knows her crewmates can save her from all these things that would easily kill her

If you want to defend yourself against powerful people, you have to be powerful, it's really pretty simple...Ace can't beat Rayleigh by destroying his ship because Rayleigh doesn't need it...that's just how the truly strong characters in the series are

You have to remember that Ace/Mihawk destroying fleets of ships were them leaving the New World where they were big names and going to the land of scrubs...normally that doesn't happen and it's just freak accidents

They couldn't do that same thing to people on their level

>Not hating TB
After such an epic arc with Enies Lobby, you gotta accept that TB was a disappointment

Yeah Ace was going after Blackbeard anyway, he only saved Luffy incidentally because if he hadn't confronted Blackbeard, Blackbeard would have gone after Luffy.

Why do people here seem to hate Rebecca?

she's Vivi with a coat of tear-colored paint.

EXPOSED AS HEADCANON SHITTER TAKE YOUR DOTS AND GENERALIZATIONS TO REDDIT

Nightmare Luffy vs. Kaido

Screen cap this niggers

Ace learned what Blackbeard's power was and witnessed it and felt pain for the first time and all that shit, well before he lost. We never saw the end of the fight but we saw the point where Ace knew he was outmatched, he could have preserved his own life and just stopped the fight since Blackbeard wasn't after him in the first place but then he would go after Luffy.

If Luffy wasn't involved, there's no reason Ace couldn't have regrouped and even contacted the Whitebeard Pirates to come back him up.

What happened to Moria anyway? I seem to recall Doflamingo trying to kill him and then reporting later that he disappeared, but he isn't in the new shichibukai right?

She's so annoying and pathetic. She spends her entire childhood as a gladiator but whenever she needs to fight, she just breaks down and starts crying. I don't care about her shitty sob story.

Plotting revenge against Kaido

Hopefully Luffy + Moria alliance soon

If Luffy and Nami can take down a Yonko commander then I'm pretty sure they can take down an Admiral.

It took them 11 hours to barely beat Cracker with hardcounter ability.

>felt pain for the first time
are we talking about the same character?
also it was mentioned later that Roger would almost never run from a fight and that Ace had the same problem. Ace running from a fight would have been super out of character, regardless of what Blackbeard said about Luffy.

That's your personal headcanon that isn't supported at all by the story Oda has written. Do you want to know why ace didn't regroup? Because he was a hothead like I said earlier and he wanted to go all or nothing against Blackbeard because his sin was pride. As I already said, that is reinforced by his death to an extreme degree. That you are ignoring that central theme in favor of your personal interpretation of Luffy playing a larger role in that confrontation than was actually realistic. Ace loved his brother, but in the moment he was willing to throw everything away as showcased by his unrealistic chase of teach and spitting on the sacrifice of Luffy, the entire whitebeard crew, and countless other pirate mooks that appeared at marineford by turning around and shitposting back at Akainu.

Technically they had Cracker's help itself. So they only beat a Commander with the help of said Commander.
But I agree that the Monster Trio would be able to defeat one 1v3.

Do you think that Tamago has some kind of connection with Smoothie? Like father/daughter or at least mentor/student?

I mean, she's both his superior and a member of Charlotte family, yet when they were talking, she shows that she respects him greatly and trusts in his judgment, even apologizing to him for her failure. It actually looked as if she's the subordinate here. And they're both longlegs (or half-blood in Smoothie's case).

She never addresses him as father, but it's possible that Linlin doesn't like her children even acknowledging the fact they have another parent (it would fit what Cracker said). It would also explain Tamago's loyalty to BM (him and Pekoms actually seem more loyal than some of the children) as wanting to be as close to his daughter as possible.

It's possible that Tamago is just that awesome that even higher ups show him respect, and also really honorable man, but it would be a nice detail to have.

Best pairing! Incredible chemistry in the manga and great doujins!

I think it's just a mentor relationship. Probably a bit like a father figure but we just can't tell.

The entire reason he nearly dead several time and the reason he is died is that he won't run from a fight if its to protect something.

From his fight against BlueJam, to how the instinct is exploited by Akainu and lead to the death, and most possibly how he lost and got captured by Blackbeard.

I thought I told you to fuck off Usopp fag
