Yakuza is funding a lot of anime. They don't need to make one about themselves

Why not? It's not like they're a secret society or anything.

Try manga.

Try videogames.

Try real yakuzas.

You can try the Emblem Take 2 OVA if you don't mind it being one of those "redo" type stories where the main character gets to relive a portion of their lives. I dunno what you would call it.

It is based off a manga, but one with no translation and unlikely to get one since it's fucking long.

because anime is for virgin faggots who only want to fap to cute girls.
read manga, kid

try JAV

Try Sup Forums.

We are the yakuza.

can't criticize the yakuza, or they will come after you

Yakuza are kinda diff from Mexican cartels

Well the best comedy is tangentially about a non-serious yakuza, if that's any consolation.

Yakuza run legitimate businesses now, similar to Italian mobsters in the states. Sure there are "Yakuza families", but as far as criminal activity goes it's next to none.

Nisekoi has mafia too

They're still into crime, just more white collar crime.

Kaiji like?

im pretty sure the newer guys want to push the drug game

Probably gambling parlor type stuff. We have those in my state and they get raided every now and then.

For three years, the cops finally let go of garbage

Why isn't there a serious cartoon about the mafia?

There aren't no mafia

because the godfather already exist

The Godfather was so chuuni.

Girlish number is the closest you'll get

I see Masa-san

I had hoped Gangsta would be about the Yakuza or at least based on actual gangs instead of what we got

Try 91 Days. It's not amazing, but I liked it

91 Days? More like 91 pineapples.

Any sauce on that or you just took it form your asshole?

What's the best piece of media about the yakuza?

The Battles Without Honor and Humanity films are probably the most famous yakuza-related media

Because Sanctuary is a manga. It is, has been, and shall always be only a manga.

Yakuzas are always portrayed in a somewhat positive light in anime

Despite the setting Sanctuary basically was just a pretty standard "fuck you, ugly old people!" type story really.

this is shoujo

or a joke canon fodder villain.

Sun-ken Rock was even more disappointing. Fucking shounen fightan Mary Sue bullshit gangsters.

Because they're fucking scumbags.
Glad their numbers are shrinking and they're dying.

If they didn't exist Japan's low murder/crime rate would be even lower and it would be an even better place to live.

>Yakuza is funding a lot of anime.
lol no

>thinking small crime rates are at all relevant as to whether a place is a good place to live or not
I'll give a fuck when it has a meaningful impact on the lives of a meaningful number of people.

>>thinking small crime rates are at all relevant as to whether a place is a good place to live or not
It's one of the major reasons.

Would you want to live in Detroit?

Yes, Detroit is the logical next step when discussing Japan's low violent crime rates.

Don't look at the story, look at the manga. It's very much about Yakuza. Whatshisface with the glasses is a well-crafted depiction of a real Yakuza man.

not an argument.

Yakuza is literally a non interesting mafia

All yakuza movies suck dick, all mafia movies are cult classics

Aren't JAV actresses forced into porn because of the Yakuza?

Not "is that falsifiable"? I'm disappoint.

What's that show about a yakuza (I think it was, maybe it was the mob) who gets turned into some monster on the second half? First part was top notch, with yakuza dealings.

They're too busy playing mahjong.

>Why isn't there a serious anime about the Yakuza?
Because the fantasy Yakuza is more entertaining than the real thing.

Yes, every single one of them. And goro is a top yakuza too. In fact, they force western girls in jav into porn too, like Siri fucking the shota jav

Couldn't get past 4 episodes. Loved the videogame tho.

All yakuza manga are BL and BL never get proper adaptations.

I feel that Confessions of a Yakuza should have an anime and/or manga, but I also feel that it would be too 'hard' a story to be universally likeable and sell well. Is there really enough of a market to create such works, which can only really cater to bookish adults?

Yeah it starts slow I remember, but it picks up and have a good climax at end of part 1. Didn't like part 2 since it lost its roots and became a generic monster revenge story

>tfw search with yakuza/crime/mafia tags and come up with bunch of BL

Yakuza papers is basically anime, right down to mc being op

Might be on to something.
anime-planet.com/manga/tags/yakuza

Tekkon Kinkreet and Neo Ranga feature yakuza.

Because it would be for adults only, and the only adults who watch anime are otaku and maybe fujoshi

Fujos buy Yakuza BL manga and that's it, otaku can't self-insert as tough guy protagonists and don't want to be reminded of the meaning of masculinity and adulthood

>serious anime
>serious
>anime
?

Different target audience, most of dude that interest in Yakuza did not give a fuck about anime anyways.

I second this. Yeah not amazing but one of my fav anime of 2016 right next to Ajin. New OVA out in May.
The Yakuza characters in Durarara were pretty cool.

>New OVA out in May
Sauce?

I just realized that many of the yakuza manga I read is just a bunch of BL. Twittering Birds Don't Fly is really good.

Nigga, please. Anime is being used for money laundering just like any business by criminal organizations. The myriads of late-night anime productions and the fact that only the majority sponsors need to be named in a production committee (if at all) allows all the different fonts for the diverse yakuza organizations to invest some sums here and there and then to withdraw it later.
Also, the most openly known way for the yakuza to finance an anime franchise is when they order a pachinko machine.

on the official website, there was blu ray released in November I think that gave info for purchasing tickets to the screening event in May. The 91 days info on myanimelist recently got updated with it too myanimelist.net/anime/34777/91_Days_Special
I hope it picks up after the vol. 2 of the novel. Probably after Nero goes to give some money to that guy he took the car from. It's from the POV of Corteo's friend years later talking about he doesnt know what happened to Nero and Angelo.

>Anime is just Yakuza money laundering
It makes sense most of the shows aren't profitable at all.

Why are there so many?

Is it because fujoshi dig the hierarchy in tandem with the dangerous and potentially tragic life-style?

The hell?? I didn't know Bi no Isu got a fucking sequel. I was just thinking about that BL recently again.

The ones I read have mostly been tragic characters who like S&M play, but I think it leans mostly on domination play.

>Anime is being used for money laundering just like any business by criminal organizations.
t. shit you pulled out of your ass

Do you have any actual facts to back this up?

yakuza are so small now they barely do anything anymore

like your dick

>gangsters
>masculine or mature
They're idiot tough-guy wannabes who figure being in people's faces gives them "respect" because others aren't as maladjusted as they are.

not when you had the honorable japanese spirit to the mix :^)

Because the real yakuza are absolutely insane. They will gut you with a knife if you look at them wrong. They'll break your teeth with a hammer and make you swallow them. These people are fucking gangsters and murderers. If someone were to make an expose type of anime about them, the studio and everyone in it would be dead within the first three episodes.

They're a staple part of Japanese pop culture, just not in anime.

Most of their rank-and-file foot soldiers are just small-time bullies and pimps.

then why are their numbers dramatically declining?
the government is also cracking down heavily on them

There was some reportage a year ago about how some influential yakuza gumi started having a gang war with another. It became nasty and open enough that the cops started dealing with them instead of letting them do their things they normally do.

Mafia movies suck dick too. There are like 2 good ones and a mountain of shitty ones.

>The Godfather 1 and 2
>Goodfellas
I just named 3.

Do tell more; if you should be so willing. I'm quite curious.

They're Japan equivalent of muslims in treating the media.
You depict them the way they don't like - you get your head cut off.

The Japanese equivalent of terrorists, user.

hearty kek

Mafia culture is one of the most interesting things in the world yet it's rarely touched on ANYWHERE.

91 Days was pretty good but wasn't too deep into it, I guess everyone gave up trying to top the Sopranos.

That's what I said.

...

Edgy children please leave.

How can non-Yakuza funded animation even compete?

Go ahead, burn Quaran or insult prophet in front of peaceful muslim.

You first.

I'm not the one with illusions here.

Obviously not, which is why you'll have burned a lot of Qurans in front of Muslims to verify their rate of violence in response.

Yakuza aren't mongrels like your favela druglords, they are still criminals, but operate differently
