So tomorrow, my state's minimum wage is going up. I am a small business owner with 5 no skill employees.
I do have a plan to combat this tax hike.
All my employees are going to be changed to interns. Interns can be unpaid if the employees are being taught something.
I suggest all business owners do the same till the Min Wage tax goes away.
Alexander Nelson
> Runs a shit unprofitable business > Expects people to work for free
Carson Nguyen
Dude have a heart and pay them what they're owed If you can't afford it then you need to cut staff, no one should work for free
Camden Miller
What are no skilled workers doing?
Nathaniel Baker
I miss slavery
Zachary Anderson
Fact: you are not an employer.
Aiden Lee
Slavery jokes aside, under the table work is a great getaround. I got a friend who works under the table for below min.
Benjamin Cooper
In future news, OP is killed in an office shootout by disgruntled intern.
Jeremiah Allen
The government mandating the lowest amount you can pay employees is socialism, buddy. Also the minimum wage hurts low skilled workers since in most places, employers don't want to spend $10-$15 for someone who doesn't know what they're doing, so they are going to automation.
The only logical thing is to abolish the minimum wage.
Kayden Ortiz
Yeah your business isn't going to last long friendo. Those employees are going to walk out quicker than a nigger after chicken.
Jack Robinson
>stop paying wages >expects to keep employees
even unskilled labor knows what a paycheck is. why not raise your prices and tell your customers the reason?
Jeremiah Sanchez
They aren't owed shit since they do things anyone can do with 15 minutes of training.
Noah Rodriguez
A) you gotta be abke to show you are teaching em.something.
B) they will stop working. No fucking person will stay without pay.
David Long
This requires answerment.
Cameron Richardson
your friends with an illegal spic? kys
Carson Fisher
Why don’t you just give them more responsibilities and fire the ones that suck ass.
Logan Robinson
Good idea, that way we can get more people to support getting rid of the illegal minimum wage.
Dylan Lewis
>The government mandating the lowest amount you can pay employees is socialism, buddy.
Our system has always been a mishmash of capitalist and socialist ideas.
>so they are going to automation.
Automation is going to happen regardless. You can argue this is only speeding up the inevitable.
Nathan Murphy
when you're not paying taxes/ child support it can be much better than a "living wage"
Elijah Watson
Muh socialism
Jeremiah Thompson
If this is true then why aren't going to automation? Looks like a contradiction. Are you gonna talk or are you gonna do it?
Thomas Evans
>boo hoo i have to pay someone a few pennies more an hour to do a slave labor job
this has to be bait, but i'll bite. stop being a greedy fuck. the people you hire need to live. if you are the business owner, you are making hundreds of thousands if not millions a year off the backs of people you are not paying properly. you most likely don't give them any kind of healthcare/eyecare/dental, let alone anything like a 401k or other investment. you have to take care of the people who work for you, you piece of shit. if you have to lose a few dollars off your bottom line to ensure you have people who won't start stealing from you deliberately or start a fucking mutiny, that is what you have to do.
Caleb King
I can't do automation. Don't have the space.
Brody Price
Good luck filling your pension account with no workers.
Kevin Williams
I make millions? HAHA, after paying these ingrates, my business is barely afloat. They wont mutiny because they know how little they matter, and anyone can do their job.
Bentley Carter
So what business is it? What are these employees doing day to day?
Colton Cox
But their time isn't free. So they'll walk. News flash cunt; minimum wage isn't socialism. You've just been priced out of the market and can no longer afford the price of labour.
Which means your business is shit fyi.
Colton Smith
>abolish the minimum wage
and have roving packs of gangs all over the street like it's ancient china or japan with warlords looking to pillage and fuck shit up, because no one can find work and no one can afford anything? great idea, jackass.
Christian Ramirez
Hey, serious question here:
Instead of paying five worthless niggers minimum wage, why not hire ONE guy to do their five jobs and pay him 30 bucks an hour?
If the job paid more, you'd have access to a better pool of job candidates, right? You could afford somebody smart with great work ethic who's reliable, somebody with a family and obligations, instead of hiring fuckin' kids and drop-outs to do trained-monkey work.
Fewer employees, better trained, paid a real, actual living wage.
Xavier Jackson
The kike is strong with you. Fire them and hire fewer workers who are more productive. If you cannot make a business model work for the economy you are now part of, your business is a failed venture. Fire the most lefty employee first but show them a productivity chart first and have them all sign a paper saying they understand that the economic forces that caused your overhead to go up made this necessary
Oliver Peterson
Clearly your business is shit.
Do you sook this much when electricity, insursnce and other expenses go up in price? Do you threaten the electricity company with getting electricity for free?
Ian Murphy
Misclassifying employees as interns will get you in a world of shit, even if the pain doesn't start immediately.
I don't know off the top of my head the statute of limitations (if there is one) on backpay, but you could potentially get in a situation where you owe decades of backpay to all of the employees you misclassified.
More importantly, your employees are going to blow the whistle within the first 18 months, and then you're going to have the IRS / Labor Board all over your ass.
Austin Cruz
>socialism expecting people to work for literally nothing is communism, nigger.
Adam Diaz
I actually run a business. I understand where op is coming from philosophically, in his supremely hyperbolic way.
Most of us aren't making millions, or even hundreds of thousands. We are making a living+some. We need to keep our margins fairly reasonable, because some hungry kid will swoop in and steal our livelihoods if we get too ahead of ourselves.
When the gov't raises minwage, and you run a winwage shop, you just have to raise prices. Beast of the business.
There are no goofy intern endruns around the system. Labor laws are brutal in their enforcement.
Christian Murphy
Leftist fag want to pretend hes a business owner and wants to make businesses look bad thinking they can do this. No, you entered a contract with your employees, they're not going to stay if you go for their pay to nothing and being an intern. You're free to fire them all and TRY to get people to intern but that doesn't work for manual labor. Internships are for positions that lead to jobs that are at the minimum 60k to 100k per year.
Austin Rivera
>and have roving packs of gangs all over the street like it's ancient china or japan with warlords looking to pillage
I'm ok with this. Sounds comfy.
Luke Lewis
>under the table >less than min wage Nigga hella dumb
James Young
I don't believe you own or run a business
John Taylor
Because not every job is skilled labor you dumb fuck. Esprcially if it's minimum wage tier. Yeah fire the 5 monkeys moving crates in a warehouse and replace em with 1 educated person. Congratulations you just handicapped your business. Think before you post.
Owen Harris
then you probably shoulnd't be in business. if you're not competent enough to handle 5 people. FIVE people, then you really just ought to close up shop, and start doing something else. seriously, unless you are grossly incompetent, how can you be that much of a fuck up? either way, stop being cheap. no one will work for you for free, and you will haze zero employees. then your biz reviews will go down the toilet because word will get around that you're trying to skirt taxes and pay people nothing. you are a fucking idiot.
Nathan Bailey
^
Gavin Rivera
It's the most stupid thing ever. The govt raise the minimum wage a little bit and the prices just rise a little bit. Inflaction is the real problem. Back in 1994, we had a shitty minimum wage and our purchase power was a lot better than now. Go figure.
Anthony Taylor
Last time minimum wage went up my employer out us all down to 32 hours a weeks so they didn’t have to pay us overtime if we were called in.
Ayden Thomas
>Doesn’t mention his state >Doesn’t say what his company does >Doesn’t talk about revenue >Claims he will switch them to unpaid interns and they will stay >Doesn’t mention payroll taxes. >Profit margins or revenues so a monthly increase in 2-3k will break him apparently. >Zero respect for his employees who make him money. >Too retarded to think about lowering hours.
Yea this is a bait post. OP doesn’t run a business or employ anyone. He is stirring the pot because of his preconcieved notion of how a business is run or what the real problems are with running a company.
>t. Accountant who actually knows how a business fucking works and adapts.
Thomas Bailey
>Government raised minimum wage by a 1$ >oh no, oh god, that's an extra 40$ a day my business is ruined!!
Angel Diaz
Lol how much are u making p/h off these guys already? Will your profits really go down that much stop being a gready Jew and pay them more
Joseph Morales
It's a fabrication shop
Government telling a business what to do IS socialism
Because I need a team.
Communism is where the government owns the business, dumbass. When I was growing up, I was told to never expect anything for doing what I was supposed to be doing. Using the government to get me to get you money is socialism.
Jayden Wood
replace them with software or machines if possible. Pays out in long-term.
Charles King
>They aren't owed shit They still work you fucking cunt, they deserve money for their time
Joshua Hernandez
>they aren't owed shit because I feel like their work is too easy.
Your feelings are worthless. To a neurosurgeon everything you do is simple, do you not deserve a wage because someone thinks your job is easy/stupid
There is no way you own a successful business.
Benjamin Morales
I was thinking about opening a business here a while ago. The thing is, for each employee you hire, you have to pay almost the same for the govt. So it's like hiring 2 people. This really hinder companies here. The goverment demand so much tribute and there's so much burocracy going on that a lot of people just give up on the idea. Brazilian tax payers are completely fucked over. "Oh thanks for the tax money, now let me build a seaport in Cuba, and while we are it, give our biggest gas company to Bolivia".
James Howard
you say this, but i've worked for places that break every labor law in the book. it doesn't seem to stop people from being shitty to their employees, because they know they're too poor to afford a lawyer or have the legal know-how on their own to take them to court.
aside from that, how small are your profit margins that paying someone literal pocket change more an hour is somehow crippling your business?
hypothetical: let's say the min wage goes up a flat dollar. and you have 5 employees like OP's retarded ass, that somehow can't manage to handle. and everyone has 40 hrs a week.
1 employee = $40 more a week 5 employees = $200 more a week one month = $800 more a month
what kind of business is not making more than $800 a day to support the entire staff of people in this scenario?
and all of this, "welp, gonna have to raise prices or fire people, or build a robot!" mentality is just fucking ridiculous.
Jayden Murphy
>doing what i was supposed to be doing >implying people are "supposed to" work for you for nothing (just like people are "supposed to" in communist countries) kek i hope the free market sends your business down the shitter
Andrew Robinson
payroll taxes increase too
Nathan Jenkins
because pic related, my good sir.
Caleb Peterson
I have been in business for myself, owned several shops since the early 1970s when I was discharged from Vietnam.
>Michigan >Metal Fabrication >revenue is tight, especially in the winter months >I'll pay the good ones, the bad ones will have to leave on their own. >They are under the table >They haven't earned my respect
No they don't, they are doing the bare minimum. If they were exceptional, then I'd be inclined to agree
You act like $800 a month isn't a lot, but I buy steel and aluminum by the pound which gets expensive. If I could go automatic, then I would.
Adrian Baker
I recently quit a job paying $9hr. I had a fake identity at that job the entire time. I would be careful who you fuck over, such a small business would have sensitive information every where.
Kayden Campbell
If you really are a business owner, then I strongly advise against trying to pull the wool over your government's eyes. It won't work. Worse yet, your "no skill" "interns" could sue your ass for millions in damages (if the government doesn't beat them to it).
Just downsize. Let that be a harsh lession for Socialism.
Jaxson Hill
Check the post about misclassifying employees above. No lawyer needed. The irs and state agencies do all of the work cheerfully.
Prices go up, or the kids do more work in the same amount of time; possibly both gradually as not to scare off customers. Just how it goes. No business owner is taking a haircut willingly.
Brandon Thomas
ive got a idea, it requires some rope , a lamp post, and politicians. try it out
Jason Williams
You’re either larping or a jackass. Either way kys.
Xavier Lee
>always been socialist Things changed alot after the fed was created good goy. that and ww2. Socialism infiltrated us because the fed caused false recessions with this false monetary system. the fed and its elites are the sole creators of all the troubles of modern day. you cant save the US without getting rid of the fed jews. any other idea than this is ludacris.
Jack Russell
Unskilled labor here. I've interviewed for plenty of plances and only a few where scummy enough to try to get me to "intern". Think about it, a place that won't even pay you min wage to see if you're a fit there...why would anyone want to work for a company like that and is that cheap? It's not rocket science to know what they're trying to do. Even if it's just a day of free labor, when it was bad around 2008-2010 you know they would get 200-800+ resumes and would interview dozens and dozens. They only had to trick 2-3 interview people a day to work for a day free (of course they would work hard to show how good they could be). That's hundreds of hours of free labor. Luckily I was never dumb enough accept that. One place even wanted me to "intern" for 3months to a year WTF when their ad was 12$/hour (min wage was 8$.hour at the time many years ago in CA).
Now min wage in CA is like 10.50$/hour and working it's way up to 15$/hour because of the fucking liberals trying to destroy our currency with inflation. Liberals, why such small steps if inflation and high min wage is so good? Let's go to 50/hour or 100/hour..maybe a million an hour and we'll all only have to work 1 hour to be rich!!! lol Let's have that Zimbabwe currency!!
Benjamin Williams
Odd, you don't have the skill to make it work within your budget. Maybe you should be an intern.
Adam Lopez
that's what they do. they cut hours. they hire more people to fill those spots. this is why you will see "unemployment is down" on the news. it's really not, they're just giving 2x the amount of workers half the work time. everyone has 4 hour or 5 hour shifts, but they have 2 or 3 days a week that they work. will never hit 40 hrs, will never see overtime. no one can live on $90 or less a week. it's a logistic and scheduling nightmare too but that's what these grimy companies do to get around paying people what they're worth.
Aaron Powell
Or you can go ahead and raise your prices.
If its such a burden to you, why didn't you switch to classifying them into interns years ago? All this time you could have been saving on labor costs. Why did your kike instincts tell you to do that now?
Owen Reyes
I am considering going across state lines to Indiana, their min wage is only $7.25, much more reasonable, and their taxes are lower.
John Price
I'm just going to move my business across state lines to Indiana. Lower MinWage Tax, and lower taxes overall.
Lucas Bell
michigan?
Ryan Gomez
On an unrelated note, looking for work in that overall field hilariously enough.
I'd eat the cost for the good ones, but encourage the shit tier ones to quit, and try replacing them with ones better able to handle monkey work.
Ryder Clark
Fair enough, but long term it isn't going to fix the problem...
Luke Gutierrez
>they are doing the bare minimum
of course they are. HURR DURR I WANT MIRACLES FOR MINIMUM WAGE AN HOUR. not gonna happen. these people have no incentive to do jack shit for you. you've already explained that you don't respect them in the first place. OP you are the problem in this scenario, not your workers, not a wage hike, not the government, it's just you.
you are unable to see that you not only make a shitty businessman, but you also make a shitty leader.
Robert Russell
I own a machine shop and my state is also doing this.
You'll have to raise prices and pray your competitors do to.
David Smith
>be manager in MegaCorp employing unskilled people in customer service roles >start $3 over minimum wage >have quality employees and low turnover with high profitablility Sucks that you're bad at business, OP.
Dominic Peterson
>I'm just not going to pay my employee's! >what the fuck do you mean they all quit >What the fuck do you mean no one wants the job
Nolan Nelson
Everyone who roves around should be shot on sight. Problem solved. Of course that means socialist faggots like you as well.
Angel Reyes
>I'm just going to move my business across state lines to Indiana. That's probably the best idea. The state is fucking over businesses for their own financial gain. Hit them where it hurts. Leave them behind.
Andrew Ramirez
glad you can afford the extravagance. But really in my field, it only takes 15 minutes to train a new employee
Liam Gomez
>You act like $800 a month isn't a lot $800 a month is small potatoes
James Baker
op can pay them
he just doesn't want to
hopefully you go out of business, the free market fixed it
Aaron Gomez
i'm not a socialist. but i do believe in people being paid a fair wage. what's fair is fair. the fact that OP's going through all these mental gymnastics to justify his own scumbag actions, to even devise a plan to try and avoid paying these people, for him to proclaim he's just gonna move his entire shop somewhere else at all, and to say he gives no shits about the lives of the people who keep him gainfully running a business and that they're somehow disposable, that speaks volumes about his mentality. i wouldn't work for him either. but the people who do need to be compensated for their time.
Christopher James
Fire half of them, let the ones who stay know that since they are now getting more pay, you expect more out of them. If they complain, fire them and hire someone else.
Brody Moore
Then go to Venezuela
Jace Bailey
well the bare naked truth is that "small business owners" are always the biggest pieces of shits on the planet
always opt to work for a faceless listless global mega Corp over a small business if you can
small business owners make pretend to care more and be more "in touch" with their employees but the truth is they exploit them even worse and discard them the moment they are too expensive way way faster than massive corporations
Matthew Long
This would lead to injuries had this happen at our job when they expected this guy to do the work of 5 people with boxes and crates. An entire stack of boxes fell on him and he become paralyzed.
Oliver Perry
No "taxable income" either.
Oliver Cox
Just raise your prices. If you're equally as competent as your competition you won't be run out of business. If you have to compete with states with lower minimum wages and that's why you can't compete just move there. Simple enough solutions to your problem, still, I understand the need to rant about it on pol.
Lincoln Mitchell
What the fuck kind of low-tear retard machine shop do you run where the minimum wage is even a consideration. If your paying machinists even close to minimum wage, your machinists are low skilled morons and the product your shop produces is trash.
Gabriel Foster
Sounds like you are a socialist.
Good idea, till I can move across the state lines.
Wyatt Diaz
t. libfaggots who have absolutely no idea how it is to run a business or where they money to pay employees actually comes from.
Isaac Wilson
Minimum wage hike is a devestating attack upon the middle class. It’s a rather harsh follow up to forced healthcare.
>har har McDonalds BTFO ah hahaha Well guess what? These are franchises. And muh corporate clown ain’t gonna’ slash prices on food. This is putting franchise owners out of business unless they raise food costs.
>u need to pay your employees independently-owned small business. PAY!!! How many of these morons have ever gone into business for themselves? There are not many services that can be provided anymore that aren’t offered by corporations like Walmart.
Brick and mortars are dead, and so are your half-assed jobs. The only people who will survive this are people who were barely scraping by in the first place and work their fingers to the bone with no employees.
Kevin Watson
This. I've seen mega corps treat employers way better than what small business have. Especially with over time pay. Small Business owners expect you to work for free and do other shit.
Nathan Russell
Yes it's this. OP is an incompetent Vietnam vet who tried running businesses since he got out and failed every time. No wonder we lost that war
Logan Clark
>fair wage Fair, you fucking libtard, is whatever an employee will agree to accept. it's not defined by your kike-like notions of a magical world where everyone gets a free income for being a shit-processing tube.
Chase Robinson
Half true, desu.
We don't have the reserves the big companies have, so we need to cut more fat and occasionally just fold up operations, way sooner than Amazon.
Lincoln Hill
>t. libfaggots who have absolutely no idea how it is to run a business or where they money to pay employees actually comes from. Yeah bruh. Doesn't matter that the location I manage clears high 7-figures, I'm a retard who doesn't know how to make money or manage unskilled employees.
Leo Robinson
its a trend for small business owners to pay their workers the lowest wage possible while still raising prices. Seen this happen at so many restaurants. After a couple months the food quality goes down from people quitting and the place goes bankrupt.
Levi Morris
>have no skills >expect good wage
>have no skills >expect min wage >business owners raise prices to make up for the loss
>have no skills >expect min wage >lose job because business owner can’t afford too many employees
>have no skills >expect min wage >business owner sells property and renders several employees jobless and many other people without the services he supplies
Wew lad, sounds like government schools didn’t do you any good
