Be warned though that the series watches like a large info dump until Kirichies bites the dust which is about the first 18 episodes and only after that point does it really start getting gripping,pretty comprehensible and engaging with the stuff it's doing.

I saw it two years ago for the first time thinking that it was going to be mediocre. Now I'm one of those who said that it's the best anime ever made.

It's an anime that stands out head and shoulders probably because it's from a novel. I almost don't count it as anime because it, other than being animated and from Japan, has nothing about it that I usually associate with anime.
