Why is this so much better than Naruto and Bleach?
Why is this so much better than Naruto and Bleach?
More backstory, more natural flow, the world doesn't exist just for the main cast, and it never feels like it lost what it intended to do.
nah, naruto's better.
It has actual character development. Some may be bad, but a lot of it is good, and that puts it ahead of the 1 dimensional tropes of the Strawhats.
People just like One Piece because it takes no risk. It's literally the same arc told over and over again with little sense of progression and the same old interactions.
It's good, but Nardo is better.
I've always hated the artstyle.
Its not quite 'better' but its by far more consistent
Naruto/Bleach's highs are much higher then OP's but their lows are much lower then OP's as well.
One Piece is consistently entertaining. It never gets a huge WHOA factor but it keeps you reading it because overall its a fun read.
Not ground breaking, but enjoyable?
If that makes sense.
This
The anime adaptation surely isn't.
In other words, it is always the same.
Objectively cirrect
Nah, One Piece just doesn't take itself seriously. It's a self-parody whereas Naruto and Bleach have both 'serious' and 'comedic' moments. That's why 1P never feels like it's going to WHOA you.
Not hard to be better than these 2 shit series
I don't know, I prefer a light-hearted adventure shonen with great worldbuilding than generic edgy ninjashit.
It took longer for it to start getting bad. Where as Bleach started getting bad after Soul Society arc and Naruto in part 2. By bad I mean intellectually offensively bad.
When did One Piece start getting bad?
It isn't. Naruto is much better.
>better than bleach
yes
>better than naruto
lol wanpiss never better than naruto
Naruto is better than One Piece, but both are miles ahead of Bleach.
I only made it to about 50 episodes in. How long will it take me to watch the rest of the episodes and the movies Sup Forums? I want to get back into it after not watching for a while because I heard the later arcs were really good (Enies Lobby, Water 7, Alabasta, Sky Island, Summit War Saga, etc.).
>It never gets a huge WHOA factor
I don't know man, Alabasta, Skypea, Enies Lobby all had great highs.
Even Drum Island was great and Chopper's backstory made me tear up, and the end of the arc even more
10/10
Read the manga.
At least Naruto has actual character development.
Oda seems mentally incapable of giving his characters any kind of life beyond their arbitrary tragic flashbacks.
As someone who watched 500+ episodes, the anime in my opinion remains a good watch until after Enies Lobby where pacing eventually slows to an unbearable crawl. If you want to make faster progress I recommend reading the manga instead.
Oh and watching that many episodes took me maybe a year and a half, at the start watching 8-10+ episodes a day was easy but like I said once you get later into the series where Toei gives less of a shit it gets less fun to watch.
It only took me 2 weeks to get through the pre-TS One Piece manga and that was while I had other stuff to do along with it.
Seriously, just read the manga instead and save yourself some time.
>600 chapters in 2 weeks
>in 14 days
>600/14 = a little over 43 chapters per day
>each chapter has an average of 18 pages
>774 pages per day
>in 24 h = 32.25 pages per hour or 1 page every 1.8 minutes
taking time to sleep, eat and whatever else you were doing you wouldn't spend more than 12h a day reading. that means less than a minute per page
even on a reread where you could potentially read much faster (but kind of defeats the purpose since you should read/watch carefully to get every nuance, foreshadow and joke, et cetera) you would be a massive spee d. reader
do you even remember anything?
>At least Naruto has actual character development.
It's shit
´coz Worldbuilding >>>>>Chuunie>>>>>>Powerlevel Fantasies
>nuru2fags even trying to say Naruto is better than OP.
It completely shit itself the entire run after Sasuke vs Deidara.
>Why is this so much better than Naruto and Bleach?
It is?
>better than Naruto and Bleach
That's hardly an accomplishment.
Ace dying seemed huge to me. Didn't expect it after all he went through to rescue him
then why is it so much better than your favorite manga/anime
Literally did not feel like it was dragging until Dressrosa.
On other thought, Alabasta and Summit War are still the best arcs in the entire series. I dont even think I should say this but I actually enjoyed Thriller Bark too
Trivia: One Piece stopped being good after Alabasta just like Bleach with the SS arc and Naruto with the Chunin Exams.
Those are the points where the quality dips, folks.
because One Peice is so middle of the road
people often cite One Piece as the best peice of fantasy and shit but its blatantly safe
I feel like I'm the only person who just wasn't that into Skypiea. I'm only on episode 224 now so maybe it'll grow on me with hindsight, but I dunno, I just really didn't engage with the story all that much, apart from the whole background with Noland. I did really enjoy Alabasta, though.
I 100% agree with you. Skypiea was arguably the worst Arc in OP
wrong, impel down was the peak of one piece
Hunter x Hunter is better than all 3.
>unfinished manga with shitty main protagonist
>ongoing best selling manga with a more likable main character
Fuck Gon
Fucking BoBoBo is better than that shit.
It's the same, but with pirates instead of ninjas or shinigami.
You can't say that there are no WOHA moments when when still don't know much about the biggest secrets in One Piece.
However there have been a few WHOA moments in One Piece. Luffy gear 4th power level, Ace death.
>Haitus
yes
>1997 Onepiece
861 chapters
>1998 HxH
361 chapters
500 fucking chapter
>watch
read the manga pleb
Don't worry its not just you. Oda was told many times to cut it short because it was losing readers with how long it was getting.
so can anyone really explain why the creator does so many hiatus ? Is it because it makes a lot of money in volume sales when it comes back
what character development. sakura is still getting cucked after 15 years.
Hxh author is a lazy bum that likes no-lifing with dragon quest Games. Srsly.
I agree with the Dressrosa thing. I found myself sitting there fuming when Luffy and Doflamingo were on the roof of the castle, fighting. The birdcage took a literal 50 fucking episodes. I was getting so frustrated waiting for it to be over.
Oda is good at long term planning, and it's funny enough to make up for the childish storytelling. Naruto and Bleach both got worse over time because the mangaka's didn't plan them out well enough, and they both take themselves too seriously so they seem ridiculous.
this is a problem with the anime though, they didn't have enough filler so they caught up with the manga which had fine pacing. Toei a shit
The bf and I stopped when zou arc began. We went to watch other anime. I read ahead in the manga by a good chunk (up until Pudding revealed that 3rd eye on her head). didn't take me long. Bf got upset because I am now ahead of him. Stopped reading. But I know for a damn fact that the point I'm at isn't going to be animated for probably a year.
Right. He doesn't have a wife, kids, and impeding health problems to worry about. Or maybe he doesn't want his day to begin and end behind a desk. No, no it's all a shitty meme.
they're all the same level of /s/h/i/t/
did you really just pull the lifer card in a discussion about manga?
I would be happy to say that the guy has health problems, because he does, but mangaka in general have to be virtually married to their work. You can't be one without dedicating just about all of your free time to it, and saying shit like he has a wife and kids isn't any different from saying he's lazy.
>mangaka in general have to be virtually married to their work.
Says who? That's only if they have no other choice. Togashi has another choice, and he's choosing his health and family over manga. Not voluntarily slaving away when your body isn't up to it and you have other priorities isn't lazy. If I could ask for anything from him it'd be more open communication and transparency about how he's doing and when he plans to publish chapters, but he doesn't owe his audience anything just because they like his work.
That's not an insult. Bobobo is fantastic.
>other priorities isn't lazy
the point I was trying to make is that you aren't doing the artist a favor by pushing this.
>this is objectively shit
>WELL AT LEAST HE HAS A LIFE
>BASEMENTDWELLERS BTFO
It's cool you got the guys dick in your mouth, but you can't argue that the guy is still a mangaka if he doesn't actually draw manga.
dude, i spend way less than a minute on a single manga page. i read most manga chapters in 2-4 minutes.
But togashi is a lazy bum. He officialy Said that he dont draw because dragon quest 8 was out. And even if you dont want to be a slave to work. If he would work at least 4 h a day he whould give us a one chapter per month... Its not much. Yet he goes Full hiatus for MONTHS . A fucking lazy bum. If he dont want to draw this manga he should end It long ago or give the rights to some other ambitious author that would continue it
I wasn't that guy, but I don't blame anyone for defending him like that. The vitriol directed at Togashi for his hiatuses is absurd. We barely know anything about him except that he's not healthy and we don't know the details of that either. Yet the first conclusion everyone jumps to is that he's actually perfectly healthy and must just be a lazy lying asshole. It's obnoxious how people think serious health issues are somehow out of the realm of possibility just because Oda worked from hospital or whatever.
He goes on record of saying he's not gonna sacrifice his health for his work and would like to do other things in his free time. In that respect, he's acting unprofessional like but hey. Bottom line is he doesn't need the money, the fact the it's still running means he still genuinely cares about the series but he's not gonna rush to the end. And things like familial obligations are something to consider.
He also said officially many times that he's not healthy enough to work consistently, and so have the publishers and his family. Stop basing your opinions on baseless fucking memes.
>If he dont want to draw this manga he should end It long ago or give the rights to some other ambitious author that would continue it.
And they would run it into the ground. Stop talking stupid.
> huge WOAH
> In Naruto and Bleach
Like what? Lee vs Gaara? Jiraya's death? Aizen's reveal? There are plenty of OP scenes on this level.
But Tell me. How much skickness It requires to not be able for a fucking year to even draw a shitty sketch for a chapter and give It to a assistants to fill it. Togashi is just trollyn with the "health issues" so the good japs wont bother him because. "shouganai he is sick again. Take care sensei and rest as much as you want." He doesnt give a shit about his manga and his fans. Otherwise he would find a solution to continue without drawing prraonally. (yet what sickness does he have that he's unable to sit and draw...)
He could do same shit as Toriyama with super. Toyotaro is doing the work and toriyama only gives him ideas and supervise him.
Still no. That wouldn't happen because a) he himself said the series is a part of him.
And b) HxH's tone and overall feel comes from years of experience, influence, and personal quirks. Character expressions, the way action scenes are drawn, and so on work best with Togashi's unique brand of creativity.
And try as he might, Toyotaro still pales compared to Toriyama's early work.
I feel kind of bad that he has fans that are as dedicated as some of you and yet still goes on year long hiatus.
It's like watching someone kick a puppy repeatedly.
Shit pacing, shit characters, shit art, shit fights
Best I can give it is a shit/10
I know right? And they go like "leave him alone he said he has health problems"
i get that the one piece world is a lot of humorous stuff but idk how you can call it too childish to be taken seriously or that it has no character development
the main protag traversed half the world and broke into the two most dangerous government facilities to save his brother just to watch him get impaled by a giant magma fist before he could develop as a character
some aspects are goofy but i think op does have that huge woah factor when its time for serious moments
no your dumb
the reason for this is that the people that complain about these things haven't actually read the manga.
The thread idea is intentionally inflammatory and encourages people that haven't read One Piece to defend whatever they like from it.
t. Narutard
No
So in other words you have never read a single panel of this manga
It is not only better than Bleach and Naruto, it is the best battle manga out there by a huge margin
inb4 buttmad huntards
I cried more because of One Piece than I did because of Naruto. Naruto might be more complicated tham OP in it's structure, but it never was better
It isn't. Naruto and Bleach don't have exaggerated drama in the same arc over and over again or characters that always have some kind of tragedy in their past.
inb4 the talking boat
>exaggerated drama
both of these in a nutshell
Power creep is a normal part of battle manga.
Naruto and Bleach underwent "edge creep" in which every villain and situation had to be edgier than the last.
>unfinished
Both are and take years to go anywhere. At least HxH is good.
The 3 are trash but naruto and bleach has more logic than op and this already make them better.
the assumption is that hxh will remain unfinished, because in all likelihood it will. Forever is longer than a long time
I dropped One Piece at the beginning of the gladiator arc. I just didn't want another fucking Alabasta arc.
My friend who's super into it keeps pestering me to pick it back up but i just don't want to.
All Post-timeskip arcs were awful for me and from what i've heard, Dressrosa was Alabasta 2.0 and Big Mom is basically Thriller Bark 2.0 (down to her fucking fruit powers)
I think what killed it the most was the fishman island arc
Hodie Jones is a trash villain and was basically Arlong on super steroids.
>basically Thriller Bark 2.0
this is so wrong it's hilarious.
If you wanna complain feel free to complain but don't do it on hearsay user.
It's not.
Nah, he's right, it was a dumb arc with no real stakes. The only good post timeskip arcs were Punk Hazzard and the current one.
>Punk Hazzard and the current one
the current one is WCI which isn't Thriller Bark 2.0
Punk hazard was trash and only contributed exposition to Dressrosa instead of actually being an arc.
If this is bait I guess you succeeded but you still said some pretty retarded shit here.
Ace's death had barely any effect on Luffy as a whole though.
He cried about it for like one chapter and then went back to being an irritating Son Goku clone.
Toonami doesn't think so.
It was the prompt for the timeskip, up until this point Luffy took the position that he was out for adventure and if he died he died. Ace's death made the usually selfish and reckless character stop and think about what the path ahead would look like and take time to train so that he wouldn't lose any of the crew members he was close with.
It was the turning point of the story where Luffy wasn't just in it for himself anymore.
But it isn't, it's the same garbage.
>Punk hazard was trash
Punk Hazard was great. We had Law, Smoker and Vergo conflict, OP Strawhats were scaled down by Law, Cesar and Monet wasn't underestimating Strawhats like Hodi and Doflamingo did. All in all it was great arc. At the same time Fishman Island was a delayed curb-stomping battle and Doflamingo arc was too complicated, slow and simmilar to Alabasta to be interesting.
You're forgetting the timeskip part
Caesar wasn't an arc villain, Vergo just jobbed and Monet got rekt by Tashigi. There was no villain for this "arc" so I have a hard time seeing it as one when the only thing it did is provide buildup and exposition to Dressrosa.
>Caesar wasn't an arc villain
He definitely was.
>Vergo just jobbed and Monet got rekt by Tashigi
I don't care for battles that much. Though Monet and Vergo were more interesting than any battle in the Fishman Island or Doflamingo arcs.
>There was no villain for this "arc" so I have a hard time seeing it as one when the only thing it did is provide buildup and exposition to Dressrosa.
I don't see how one thing follows from the other.
>He definitely was
care to share what makes you think Caesar has the right to stand with the likes of Doflamingo, The Navy admirals, Magellan, Moria, Lucci, and Crocodile?
Caesar's value was almost entirely in his identity and in the value he has to the major players of the underworld, not his own power. They could have replaced him with the SMILE recipe and things would have ended up the same.
It's not about power, it's about his role in the arc. He is the main antagonist there. Actually, the fact that he is so weak is the exact reason why I enjoyed Punk Hazzard so much. Watching a weak villain trying to survive Strawhats felt fresh and fun.
>It's not about power
this is what defines an arc villain as separate from some meme underling. If you are the same guy that was angry at Fishman being bad then what constitutes the difference between Hodie and Caesar? Also for my own curiosity do you read the manga or watch the anime?
