Friends. I think it meant the Sandstar maintains and conserves the species of the friends. Meaning that it revives extinct animals to preserve them.

I think the anime showing Mirai's hair in her hat helps narrow down the time between the evacuation of the humans and Kaban's birth.

1. How long until human hair degrades into nothing? If it's still 'fresh' enough to stay like that in an exposed environment like the savannah, wouldn't it be a safe bet to say that humans evacuating the island could have happened not more than 10 years ago?

2. The solar panels also offer a clue. Yes there was that scene where it showed a rusting crane in the jungle lodge but solar panels themselves degrade in efficiency over time. afaik they stop being useful after 30 years. If the panels in the cafe and the lodge still give out almost near maximum efficiency (since the ones in the cafe were able to charge the bus battery in a relatively short amount of time and still able to heat water), it may not have been more than 5 years when they were first installed.

It okay it seems like Kadokawa doesn't want to work with them ever again.

They gave a handwaving explanation that "Sandstar preserves stuff", so there's no telling really just how long that hat was floating around.

Kadokawa can turn to DMM or any number of companies to make a competent KF game. They will even allow you to make a KF doujin game.

I'm pretty sure that the databook confirmed the whole thing with Mirai having happened only a few years ago.

It was nexon jp branch user, I follow kr branch for years and they never mention kemono friends. That's the reason why I don't even know KF game exist.

They don't. I translated the Animate interview and Kemono Friends doesn't grant any studio exclusive right to make licensed games. They are opening up so people can even design friends and make cosplay costume or write novels/manga.

I understood that explanation as the sandstar preserving animals by changing them into Friends including the extinct ones. I never thought it would apply to other non-living stuff in the park

Park was abandoned for maybe a decade, and apparently Mirai tried to recover it when it was already closed for some time. It can't be more than a couple of decades since everything is generally in a good shape, except for wooden bridges and pathways in jungle (where the humidity is so high it degrades faster)

The buses, cranes, other vehicles would definitely rust if not kept in garages especially for the vehicles we saw in the show that were exposed outside in the jungle where humidity alone would be a big issue. Hell I swear the crane in the lodge was also half submerged in mud too.

Nexon exe must be trying hard to make a deal with Kadokawa right now given the show's popularity, but too bad they fuck things up hard.

If there is a new game then I hope they can get Cygames as the studio.

The friends have embraced their humanity by the end of the show. Look at how they happily spend a month at the amusement park while they cook and make things.

I bet years from now when Grey Wolf becomes the mother of our children she will illustrate stories of Kaban and Serval's adventures.

If humanity managed to control the process, Ceruleans would make it really easy to repopulate endangered animal species if they had some way of containing Sandstar without it turning the container into a Cerulean to touch hair(s) or other matter of that animal, then shoving the created Friend into a Cerulean that they then kill after the Friend is partially digested.

If Season 2 does come we will have a episode or two dedicated on the current lives now of those Kaban left in the Kyoshu Island. They would probably be building communities and towns.

I only now just realized that this is the animal that the Cerulean ate on the very first episode.

Mirai's video logs make it sound like she didn't come back after the first evacuation. Rather there was only one massive evacuation and she was just one of the few humans that left last.

It's kind of odd that they weren't able to stop the Ceruleans even though they learned about the salt water weakness. That seems pretty crippling when they're on an island.
