Here's what confuses me...

Here's what confuses me. Why does Hollywood go for shit that either doesn't lend itself to Live Action adaptions ( Akira) or needs a talented director/writer to make it work (Ghost in the shell had none of these) instead of going for stuff that lends itself to a big budget Hollywood action movie.

Black Lagoon
About a group of pirates living in the south china seas, who take jobs from underworld crime lords. All of the characters but one are westerners, there are a shit ton of explosions and gun fights. It's basically as if Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and John Woo got together to make an anime.

Hellsing:
Secret Organization that hunts down Vampires and other monsters fights a grounp of Nazi Vampires in England. Has a big Titted Police Woman and the Lord of Vampires himself under their employ. Get Cate Blanchett for Integra and your good

Full Metal Alchemist:
Again just about everyone's a Cracker so no Whitewashing required Two brothers try to resurrect their dead mother and end up getting most of their body parts taken. Have cool powers and go on a quest to get their bodies back. Multiple movies Harry Potter style

Do you really REALLY think those century old jews now anything about good manga/anime user?

They go for well known series.

>Why does Hollywood try to make money from well known names rather than putting effort into making good movies?
We may never know, user.

It's not about quality it's about name recognition, Hellsing has been done to death, FMA wouldn't make a good movie

fuck off to Sup Forums

>Black Lagoon
Jesus yeah a live action could actually really work with this. Everything is already B-movie inside, it's no big deal to adapt, and as much as I despise the usual live action idea, I can dig that

That lazy cunt Hiroe is never doing more chapters, is he?

Because Hollywood is running out of creatives and want to make a film that already has an established fanbase they know will sell based on name recognition.

If the ghost in the shell movie does well it won't be because of the fanbase that existed beforehand.

Because Hollywood made a great flick with Tom Cruise based on a manga and NO ONE WATCHED IT.

Blame the consumers. They constantly ask for good, original movies, but then when they're made they don't watch them which forces Hollywood to only remake very well known things.

You did not hear the news?

Literally everyone and there mother has at least heard of or seen The Ghost in the Shell anime movie. They are seeing the live adaption because of name recognition.

I thought I heard something about this

>FMA wouldn't make a good movie
It would make for a decent hexology, or a octology if you want to pan things out.

>Literally everyone and there mother has at least heard of or seen The Ghost in the Shell anime movie.

Is this what weeaboos actually believe?

The dream of Sup Forums being just for 2D is now dead.

>GitS movie widely praised for years
>influenced american films such as The Matrix, James Cameron's Avatar, Steven Spielberg's AI: Artificial Intelligence, and Jonathan Mostow's Surrogates
>frequently tops top 50 list of best movies of all time
>multiple celebrities have it as their favorite anime film
>still talked about today prior to the live action movie being announced

yes, you're right. only anime nerds have heard of Ghost in the Shell.

Not to mention they made a good adaption of an anime that actually perfectly captured the spirit of the source material perfectly and it got panned

They need to get Chow Jun Fat to play Boss Chang, that would be like pottery.
But of course they wouldnt because then they would be raising the bar too high.

still don't understand the hate for this. It was a lot of fun to watch.

What is this?

they should have made one as soon as the anime second season finished.

just imagine a Jojo movie with professional bodybuilders dressed as Stands.

He likes niggers now

And professional Wrestlesrs as stand users.
>Undertaker as DIO.
>John Cena as Jotaro
>Hulk Hogan as Old Joseph

They take the most popular/well-known shows and try to adapt them. They fail. They lose money. They leave their hands off anime.

I fail to see the issue. I don't WANT to see more live-action shit.

>based on a manga

It was based on the manga adaptation not the light novel pleb

it can work

>About a group of pirates living in the south china seas, who take jobs from underworld crime lords. All of the characters but one are westerners, there are a shit ton of explosions and gun fights. It's basically as if Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and John Woo got together to make an anime.
No.
Black lagoon would be a supbar steven seagal action movie or some straight to dvd trash.
It's only carried by the art and the novelity factor of it being a action b movie from the 90s with more edgy content and nice art.

We can be friends.

The manga started half a year before the movie came out. Also:

>In late 2009,3 ArtsProductions purchased the rights to the novel and sold aspec script to the American studioWarner Bros..The studio produced the film with the involvement of3 Arts, the novel's publisherViz Media.

Longer series wouldn't lend themselves as well to the 3 act Hollywood feature format. Something that already has anime movie with some popularity like Akira or GiTS is easily cribbed.

anyone who watched the Matrix and cared to read about it knows that Ghost in the Shell exists.

>amerifats
>reading
Come on user

I never mentioned amerifats user

Not him, but it's a rather well-known fact that they were inspired by GitS some. I'm from Ukraine and I know that.

The reason why is even normies know what Akira and Ghost in the Shell are. If they made a black lagoon or hellsing film 99% of the western population would know anything about the source material. Sadly a film being "recognizable" is better than it being an actual good idea.

you don't even have to read it, I have a bonus features DVD that goes into detail about inspirations and the basis for the movie

>normies
Use normalfags, faggot.

Revy would be a pretty difficult cast I think.

NORMIES
O
R
M
I
E
S

Whatever dude.

Hi normie-kun.

LEAVE ANIME KINO TO ME

post the rest of the BL actor pages

why the fuck did they do that retarded title change partway through its release? it comes off as so forced

It's not "whatever", user. Fuck that /r9k/ word; "normalfag" exists, and it's a much better word without any shitty connotations to it
>if you don't like x you're x
Sure convinced me.

this

>Black Lagoon
Soldiers of fortune mix with thunder in paradise.

Whatever you said, normie-kun.
Because only normies get so buttblasted about name-calling.

What are you talking about? Edge of Tomorrow did great, They're even making a sequel.

As much as I can see a Black Lagoon live action working, I feel like they'd miscast Revy. Not just appearance wise but also personality too. Her over the top vulgar behavior works in the manga and anime but it would probably come off as try hard in a live action.

It's not the name-calling, user. It's the foreign board culture. "Poo in the loo" grew old, but people can't seem to stop using "normie", because to newfags it sounds "innocent" and "non-offending".
Normalfag and "normie" have rather similar meanings for most people, but the connotations are fucking different. Hell, I don't even associate that word with /r9k/ anymore, I associate it with newfags, because it tends to be so popular with them. No sane user would use that ugly-sounding word that brings the image of a bullied 12 year old with adenoids to mind.

They'd make her a strong independent womyn rather than a broken mess. It would never work.

normans get off of my fucking board this is a godwinson site

this. she'd be butchered. no way they could resit making it a independent womyn deal.

Not really. In fact there are a shit load of Asian American actresses looking for work now!

/his/ localization?

Well it's not just that she is vulgar but she is a legit Psychopath and murderer but very few directors would be willing to portray her as such and would likely tone her down. Only someone like say Tarantino would be allowed to do such a thing because he can pretty much do whatever he wants. In fact my ideal live action BL movie would be written by Tarantino but Directed by either Mathew Vaughn or Gareth Evans

What is the most HOLLYWOOD cast you can think of for an anime adaption Sup Forums?

Fate/Stay Night
Shia Labeouf as Shiro
ScarJo as Saber
Emma Watson as Rin
Megan Fox as Sakura
Sean Bean as Kotomine
Ryan Renolds as Gilgamesh

Brenda Song could play Revy. She has the body ( most importantly the legs) for it. Martial Arts background and she can play a crazy bitch pretty well.

That already exists, it's called suite life on deck.

It's porno game.

>Hellsing
it had a movie and it sucked

>Farewell, drawn in your ideals and die. JUST DO IT!

>Shia Labeouf
>smashing Johanason, Watson, Fox

also
>Megan fox as Sakura
holy fucking disgusting batman
