I'm particularly fond of shoujo sport manga. It's a shame that most manga adaptions are just glorified ads for the manga, so they only adapt ongoing manga. I'm reading Beniiro Hero, and I'd give anything for an anime adaption.

(Japanese) men aren't that into fit girls and don't care about them being hard working, determined, talented etc which are essential traits for successful athletes. Women are attracted to those traits in men, so they get more out of sports anime.

Because watching teenage boys play a sport is more interesting than watching women. Not even being snarky about Japan or anime, just saying that teenage boys play most sports at a higher level than adult women. There are more than enough examples of 15 year old amateur boys destroying Olympic female teams.

If you want to watch sports, watch men. If you want to see pretty girls, there are so many other options.

Why would that matter? It's fictional so the level of skill is arbitrary. 3D women are not important.

In this regard Japan's views are very different from that of the West. It has masculine and feminine traits, but displaying the "opposite" traits from your gender doesn't automatically make you a butch or a faggot. In Japanese media strong women don't have to go around constantly proving that they're just as good as men, they're allowed to remain feminine. To me, that makes them all the more appealing. We shouldn't see being weak, incompetent or dumb as feminine traits. Not because it's "sexist" but because that view produces low quality women and in the long run a low quality society.

That rule was created to stop peasants who work for a living from beating upper class people who don't do manual labour. For example, having people who row boats, actually winning rowing.

This rule was removed because it was malicious to begin with.

I like Teppu, but it feels like the ending was cut really short. It felt like the ending to an arc, not to the entire manga. It's entirely speculation on my part but it makes me believe that the author was told by editorial mandate to wrap things up because Teppu wasn't selling well enough.

Still, it neatly wraps anything up so I wouldn't say it's a bad ending per se.
