God damn it, it's just a cheesy gag manga. Why do I feel like crying after reading it?

Because it was cancelled. Twice.
Why you put a pic of empty sky user? Sumire is down there.
It's a good scene.
It's one of those concepts that only work in manga, but it's so good because the Old Man eventually gets accepted and fades into the background and Sumire is a real person at the end, at least in the minds of her friends.
>tfw Sumire is a puppet version of the Old Mans daughter who was bullied into committing suicide
>tfw you'll never relive your high school days with a puppet waifu
What Manga?
I'll tell you because it's old and all newbies should read it: Sumire 16-sei.
I always imagine his daughter died and he quit his job working at a theater to help her live the life she should have had. Though I don't necessarily think she killed herself.
Anime when?
I don't think it would work as well, though I'd love to see a good, creative, take.
Never. There is a shitty live action adaptation, but it's terrible. I think manga is the only format where the concept can work, you need to use your imagination to fill in the gaps, in motion it doesn't really work.
Well go fuck yourself and stick it up your ass..
That's the name, mate. It might be -sai, though.
And it is a great manga.
Twice? I knew about the one time, when was the second?
The first series was Sumire 17 sai it didn't last long, then it got remade as Sumire 16 sai and lasted 55 chapters. Which is ok because the premise was already mostly played out by the time it ended and it probably would've overstayed its welcome if it lasted any longer.
Didn't know it was cancelled. But yeah, 55 was a good time to end it.
He literally just told you the name of the manga you fucking imbecile
It ended without giving much of an answer to who the old man or the girl with the delinquent puppet was, and from the author's notes it seems he was planning on revealing that but decided to "take it to his grave"
I thought it seemed like he would never tell. His whole point was that the old man's identity didn't matter(Though I would've loved to hear his identity).
Revealing his secret would've ruined it to be honest. No explanation would be satisfying, in the end the mystery is better
On one han you're right, but on the other, Ageha's plotline which was built up for quite some time never went anywhere after she has fallen for the doll-lady, which is sad.
Yeah, author just pulled a brief timeskip explaining both of them fucked off. Probably the only fault in this manga and it's understandable since it was getting axed.
That's better.
If it was just said that his daughter died, it would detract from the work.
You can tell that he's truly appreciative of the friends Sumire made, and that they remember her.
>old man didn't end up with the math teacher
Hurts a bit.
The Old Man has no desires of his own. He is Sumire for all intents and purposes.
>the weeb didn't end up with the math teacher
Why do you do this to me?
It's amazing how the old man practically killed himself and left his whole life behind in order to act as Sumire.
Would've been nice too to be honest.
>tfw Japanese see us all as Lex
Lex was a cool guy.
-de gozaru
He was a geek
And I related.
Is the live action any good?
I doubt it.
Which order are you supposed to read?
17 or 16 first?
I read 16 first, then 17. They're not really related.
Because you read the sequel and know it was shit.
