To be fair, he basically had stockholm syndrome. Asseylum saved his life and for years was the only person who treated him like a human being. In S2 he realizes how childish and naive she is when she starts asking for peace without knowing the price.
He was extremely desperate to be accepted, that's why Saaz managed to influence him. Hell, when you look at the character designs you notice that he was the only Vers soldier who had to wear gloves (probably because he's Terran and they didn't want him to touch things), he was completely isolated.
