I hated Eva, but this was one of the better episodes. Gave some good development to blonde scientist lady, and avoided the angsty robot fights of the other episodes. Definitely one of the better ones.

This was the first episode of Eva I saw and I loved it.

I fucking love that episode. Beginning sold me, with the bridge crew and Fuyutsuki doing casual civilian things. Also great humor from Gendou later on. It was a nice, relaxing episode despite the Angel.

Real worst episode is A Human Work, and even that was enjoyable in places.

The animation is great.
One of the worse episodes overall. There's all this intended tension about the angel taking over that doesn't work because we don't know what Ritsuko is actually doing or how anything works.
That's a good episode.

I'm not denying that I just like the DVD quality. The animation is still amazing just the colors are less vibrant and the resolution is worse but that just feels better I guess. I'm not gonna be like hurr original is purest form but that's sort of the appeal of it to me.

This is the episode that sets up the idea of implanting mothers into machines so that they can act as an A.I. for the machine.
The whole thing doesn't make sense at the time but it sets up the Freud-ness of the endings. (especially if you pay attention to the words that are written inside Magi by the developer.
