Hey friendo, I started with the anime too. But the problem with that is that when it ends it just kinda... fucking stops. My suggestion is to watch the rest of it and then pick up the manga. I really enjoyed it, full of feels, fears, and the occasional flex of a hentai artist drawing grotesque monsters and big animeh tiddies. Easily 9/10 imo desu bbq ttyl senpai.

Funny, I'm halfway through S2 and think that it's absolutely shit. The artwork and animation are pretty shoddy, and the direction is spastic as fuck what with the silly pans and zoom-ins everywhere. The characters act like absolute retards. Why the fuck are they yelling at Kurono to shoot the Buddha statue aliens when they're standing at a safe distance and all armed to the teeth? Instead, they just stand there and do fuck-all while the aliens are vulnerable. Characters just shirk all common sense merely for the convenience of the plot.

That said, I like Kurono as a character; his selfish shithead attitude is pretty endearing. The gore is pretty good too but I suppose that's Itano's touch at work. There's a (potentially) interesting story here, but it's not really enticing me to read the manga.
