In the closing chapters of the war in the Pacific, attempts to seek surrender with Japan were made. However, the US was adamant about a complete unconditional surrender, but Japan would not accept. The Japanese were unwilling to give up the Emperor system. Experience from capturing Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Saipan showed that the Japanese would fight to the bitter end to defend the mainland, including mobilizing civilians to fight. It would be a bloody fight, with high US military casualties and even higher Japanese casualties.
President Truman authorized use of the atomic bomb anytime after August 3rd 1945.
On August 1st, leaflets were dropped on Hiroshima, Nagasaki and other cities warning the people that they would be bombed and advising them to leave beforehand. On the 6th, Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima. An estimated 66,000 died in the blast, with more injured and additional deaths later from the fallout and disease. The Japanese still refused to surrender, in large part believing that the US had no more atomic bombs. However on 9th, Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki killing over 35,000 in the blast. On the 15th of August Japan surrendered unconditionally.
So. Was the bombing justified?
Evan Perez
Spared millions on both side and saved what was left of Japan, scared off the Reds too. Yes.
Michael Bell
Ofcourse, fuck teh gooks
Joseph Jones
two nukes wasnt enough
Charles Perez
less justifiable than the concentration camps, but they served their purpose well
Jaxon Jackson
You're just jealous of our fancy toilets. Or, any toilets.
Juan Perry
Technically yes. They didn't surrender until they threatened to nuke the capital. But you're probably referring to those animays.
Jayden Nguyen
If you attack another nation, prepare for victory or eradication. Simple. Anything less is mercy.
James Foster
I wish we never invented nukes. Think of how many world-changing wars we've avoided thanks to these things. Life would be nothing like it is now.
Jack Murphy
weren't*
Mason Cook
Totally justified. Exponentially more people would have died, and plenty more survivors were going to wind up with horrific, gruesome scars and mutilations anyway. Little Shinji would get a melted face from a bomb blast a few yards away or a nuke half a mile away regardless, and there’s going to be WAY more bombs than nukes in that scenario.
It was the most humane thing for both sides.
Connor Brown
>Hiroshima and Nagasaki were firebombed just like Dresden. >Nuclear weapons do not exist. >North Korea is a CIA state, base of operations
Gabriel Moore
No, he had the correct usage for an event, you subhuman rape baby.
Jace Hernandez
May be, just maybe, Little Kim could realise he and his nation are one step into the grave if they knew what US would do to them like they did to Japan. It's all games and fun until you poke the bear.
Justin Gutierrez
Nips were pretty patriotic man, they wouldn't have given up unless they were nuked. Them not surrendering after the first atom bomb should have been a good indicator on what kind of shit they were on.
Logan Murphy
>Was the atomic bombing of Japan justified?
Japan killed 20,000,000 Chinese civilians for the lulz.
If only we could have nuked them slower and more painfully.

Dear CIA Data Miner Fags,
Nobody advocates the preemptive use of nuclear weapons on Iran or Norkistan, nor a conventional preemptive attack on either. We do advocate a strike on Langley HQ and that listening post in Utah.
David Davis
untrue and gay. we dropped 2 bombs to show we had more nukes . never asked for surrender after just one dropped.
Kayden Bennett
Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, they bombed Darwin. That was an absolute declaration of war, they were prepared to kill civilians, and they did, Australian civilians. Don't start a fight you cannot finish. They would have imprisoned every last one of us if their plans were successful. The barbaric, sickening shit they did to Australian POWs. That isn't even including Nanking. I know a lot of you love your anime and worship Jap culture, but they were fucking savages. Unit 731, google it. If you think Nagasaki and Hiroshima was uncalled for, I'd love for you to have a few weeks working on the Burma Railway. These people were fucking savages. It is the kind of shit that makes me laugh when Australians love their Karate, I hear Australians talk positively about their Bushido code. You have to be fucking kidding me. Their civilians didn't deserve leukemia and radiation burns, but by Christ their nation deserved it a thousand times.
Jason Martin
>haha le conspiratards memes like this are literally a Jewish trick to drive people away from questioning things
Caleb Nelson
Yes the estimates show that a mainland invasion would have cost more lives then the bombs. However some argue that the US should have taken the conditional surrender. Others argue that demonstrating the bombs over unpopulated areas would have been enough to force surrender.
Part of was to scare the the Soviets. Though sadly it was short lived due to (((Klaus Fuchs)))
Matthew Morgan
Honestly I think it was justified, because there was no defensive show of force the Japanese could retaliate with. If the war dragged on, millions more would've died and Japan may not be the technological powerhouse it is today
Evan Sanders
Nearly every city in Japan was firebombed multiple times. There's a fucking difference you ignorant jew.
Landon Watson
This cunt gets it.
Julian Garcia
>Klaus Fuchs >right after being released from prison for teaching the Soviets how to make nukes, he taught the Chinese how to make nukes I don't understand why he wasn't executed

No, mass indiscriminate bombing of any kind violates the non-aggression principle. Murray Rothbard explains this in War, Peace and the State.

Why are you acting like a nigger talking about muh slavery? Have you not seen the huge changes in culture since that point? You are holding a grudge against a nation of people when you weren't even born to see doing the things you talk about, nor was 99.99% of their population even alive to experience either.
Niggers blame whites alive now for slavery hundreds of years ago. You dislike 'karate' and 'bushido' for the actions of japs close to a century ago. Where's the difference between you and a coon?

I think it's safe to say that the NAP was broken by Japan on December 7th 1941. Though you can't say it was completely unprovoked with the oil embargo and all.

No choice. We needed oil to win against China. The USA had embargoed out oil supply. How many wars has the USA started over access to oil in the last 70 years by the way?
Kayden Thompson
We started wars that could be won instead of sperging out against a power we can't beat. Did you see us try to take Soviet oilfields?
Jeremiah Wright
>Nucking populated cities >Not a war crime
Easton Morales
you could of got oil out of the other asian countries just might of had to wait a bit and put more effort into building some stuff. what you went into china 1936 or something why wasn't the 1st plan to get oil and rubber flowing back to Japan for the war effort? any fuckwit with half a brain would of known the US would embago you. also I am sure you could of worked something out with rich cunts to sell it on the down low
Jayden Parker
The attack was supposed to destroy your Pacific fleet, which would have forced you to negotiate lifting your oil embargo on us, which would have allowed us to quickly defeat China and end the war. But you knew we were going to attack you and moved your fleet ahead of time, but told your public that it was a sneak attack for propaganda purposes so that they would support total war against us.
Kayden Taylor
thanks to it japan was saved from being decimated. It saved lifes of whiteys.
And more importantly anime was created

The nukes didn't get the Japanese to surrender, the Russians did when they started to attack Japanese holdings in China. Look up the Soviet invasion of Manchuria. In fact, look into the politics surrounding WW2, not just the battles. Truman wasn't FDR's original VP and shouldn't of gotten to be president.
Ryder Mitchell
Wasn't wrong. It is weren't.
Alexander Cook
you have so many fucking options, you just thought that taking out the pacific fleet would fuck the USA and then they couldn't enter the war. you fucked up hard, like how Hitler fucked up fighting two fronts. I know hindsight is 20/20 but I think nips fucked up worse because they had more options than germoney did
Mason Rogers

They should have just let them stay alone on the mainland instead of destroying their imperial authority
Michael Ross
As the other user said, "Two nukes" counts as a single event, therefore the original user's usage of the singular term "wasn't" was not incorrect.
Jaxson Cruz
ye the amount of ppl they killed amounted to a normal sized country. they were also barbaric in their killings unlike the germans
Easton Rogers
Yes
Luis Mitchell
My understanding is that from the experience the Japanese had from other adversaries in their region made them think a devastating attack on the Pacific fleet would make the US kowtow and back down. Well, they didn't as we would know better, and the attack was not as devastating as hoped because the aircraft carriers were not there and the damn pilots ignored the fuel depots which were key targets.
True about the oil embargo. However was attacking the US really the best course of action? Surely there must have been alternatives.
Ayden Phillips
The real question is how did they even create such a thing? What human sits down and comes up with that?
They had to do some weird occult shit and their demonic buddies gave them the knowledge

from what I remember the Nazi were also running an atom bomb program but I think it was canned or took a back seat. They focused on rockets instead. Just look at how now nukes are all on ICBM's. I don't know the state of the Nipponese airforce at the time of the nukes, they had to be flown in by plane though.
splitting the atom was just something we would end up trying sooner or later. I don't want to put you down for not thinking about abstract shit but some people do
Mason Martinez
1) Hitler was Austrian 2) Japan would never have surrendered from using conventional means, the nuke (first one) was needed, second one you could argue was over kill
Jaxon Kelly
This
The nips saw what the Soviets did to the Germans, how the raped and destroyed their land. The scare and impact of the atomic bomb weren't near as much as the one from the Soviets. Imagine this: You are losing a boxing match and the enemy stays defensive but still gives you 2 big punches to the face. However, you continue to fight because the opponent is fairly new.. Now this giant Russian who beat the fuck out of your friends comes in and fights against you. Would you still fight on?
Samuel Bailey

>the Nazi's wanted to gas all jews Objectively false, look up the Madagascar plan.
Carter Carter
First of all, as was proven here sometime back Perl harbor was a false flag attack.
There were only two ships sunk. The uss Utah which had already designated to be a target ship, and the similarly ancient USs Arizona. Easy major targets such as fuel tanks were untouched.
As it was the Japanese could not resist the American onslaught past the battle of midway in 1942.
The USA was able to prolong the war by demanding unconditional surrender and the execution of emperor Hirohito.
After he atomic bomb experiments were completed there was no further reason to continue the war, then the USA was suddenly open to negotiations.
In short the atomic bombs were completely unnecessary except as an experiment by (((American scientists))). They were dropped on the two traditionally Christian cities of japan.
Henry Walker
The atom bomb isn't as big a deal as we pretend it is. The destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is Japan's holohoax. It happened, but they pretend the devastation was farther-reaching than it was. Those who experienced it speak in hyperbole because it feels bigger when it impacts you personally. The survivors of 9/11 do the same thing.
Jack Allen
yeah I know about that, was talking about why they built the atom bomb
Lincoln Richardson
The reasoning behind an unconditional surrender was to prevent what happened after WW1 in Europe. However that was the European experience, which did not necessarily apply to Japan. Retaining the Emperor did not necessary mean another war in a couple of decades.
For the record I think the bombings were justified. However I fully understand why people disagree.
Brayden Rogers
USA: Omae wa mou shindeiru. Imperial Japan: Nani? *gets rekt*
Kevin Walker
it wasnt atomic it was tnt
Jordan Brown
Yes it was a false flag in the sense that it was intended to draw the US into the war. Though it was the kind where all the chess pieces were put into place for it to happen. It was Japan that attacked. If i'm not mistaken the US was warned by an ally of the Japanese fleet headed to Hawaii but they did nothing because it was expected.
Dylan Butler
I am probably going to get banned for posting this, but there are no such things as atomic bombs or nuclear weapons. What happened to Japan were firebombings. If you look at the affects of firebombing on Tokyo, and compare them to the aftermath of the "atomic bombs" that were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, you will notice that they look very alike. Also, the building that the "atomic bomb" exploded over is was still standing. Seems real to me...
David Price
USA fought for the wrong site, but ignoring that, yes.
Luke Barnes
After looking into the topic myself, I have become convinced that if there were any attacking planes on the sky of Pearl Harbor itself, they would have come from the American aircraft carriers.
Pictures taken on the day of the attack show people behaving normally, as if they are not afraid or shocked at all by what was probably introduced to them as a military exercise.
Ethan Morgan
Yes, japs would have never surrendered and Japan is really hard to invade. The bomb saved millions of Japanese and American lives.
Carson Miller
That's genuinely what most people believed, but actually they were already in the process of surrendering, which intelligence officers did relay up the chain. Plans were then rushed so that the bombs could be dropped before a surrender could happen.
Jordan Diaz
Maybe it was the jews?

But it seems like your country lost some of its identity. Idk if it's true or not, but in America we consider Japan to be the most "western" asian country. Do you think some of Japanese identity/culture was lost after ww2? If we didn't drop the nukes, we wouldn't have had the opportunity to "westernize" you.
