It was hands down the best fight in the series with great animation

It provided us plenty of development for certain characters and between characters to then makes us actually care when said character died, as well as giving us thematic and narrative resonance that, when used well, worked wonders. These were not simply plot devices, in fact many of them weren't at all, but they instead worked as a way to push the development of certain characters in a powerful and believable way.
Also, for certain mini-arcs between the big arcs, it picked a very specific theme and sticked to it to drive the point home before moving to the next mini-arc, battle, event, or whatever else.

By the way, here's another nice thing to say about it: it wasn't Bleach.

It was the BEST ANIMATION I HAVE EVER SEEN IN ANY ANIME. 1000% KINO, 1000% GOOD QUALITY.

Yeah as retarded as Naruto got it didn't reach Bleach levels of bad and I kinda liked Madara as the final villain before Kaguya came and ruined him.

Despite its missteps I still found it kinda enjoyable and I was satisfied with the ending for the most part. Overall it neither deserves the hate or the praise it receives, its pretty middle of the road.

Pain's arc and his fight with Naruto was nice,especially Jiraiya's last stand, until it went the dragonball route at the end holy fuck.

As shitty as the characters are, the message about politics, sacrifice, and loyalty aren't that bad. You don't get much of that in other shonen besides the power of friendship.

I enjoyed the way they wrote the fight between Gai and Madara. I still get a bit of a chill when I hear "I MADARA, DECLARE YOU THE STRONGEST!"

Karin and Suigetsu were wasted in Naruto. I really like the team dynamics of the two with Sasuke forming a surrogate Team 7.

I actually hated the end of the pain arc until about 6 months ago when I started listening to University of Toronto Professor of Psychology Jordan Peterson's lectures, and he completely changed the way I look at it.

Basically, the fundamental truth of human existence is that life is suffering, ie, Pain. The fact that life is painful will make you resentful, and that will in turn make you murderous. Pain's whole existence is based around resentment, even is plan for world peace is built upon his assumption that people are stupid and can only be controlled through fear and pain.

So when Pain asks Naruto how he will confront the pain and hatred of the world, his response was to say "I'm going to believe in Pervy Sage's belief - so I won't kill you guys". Effectively saying that he won't let his pain control him and turn him into a puppet of resentment like what happened to Nagato.

(It's also neat that Pain is a puppet like Pinocchio, gotta get rid of them strings and become a real boy)

The main problem with Part 2 is it turns into an Uchiha dick sucking manga. It's barely about Naruto at all, a lot of it is dedicated to Sasuke and more and more Uchiha bullshit culminating in "Uchiha Madara" one of the biggest Mary Sue characters I've ever seen.

This was very well done in both the manga and the anime.

If I had to say something positive about the writing, I'd say I was half expecting Kishi to Edo Tensei Jiraiya like every other relevent ninja was for some easy drama. He actually didn't and kept him dead and gone for good.
