Last episode. Get in here.
I just picked this up last week and wish I had done so sooner. It really slipped under my radar mainly because it's on Amazon.
I'm guessing the threads are usually dead, though?

You are correct.
Even though it wouldn't be extremely popular, it'd probably have more viewers if it was on Crunchyroll so that the simulcast would get ripped on HS.
It's a shame because the women on the show are quite hot. Onihei should give Omasa the dick. Must be hard for a woman like that to get only fucked once every 10 years.
Favorite show of the season.
This has to be the most underrated show of the season. A real hidden gem. It's just a shame it didn't have a bigger budget, but I guess samurai shows just don't sell very well.
>season 2 never
Is Onihei's wife a slut?
No, she is a pure girl who was deceived by a man.
She always had the intention of being loyal.
I really like the voice acting, usually I don't really notice it a lot but Onihei does a great job.
I was always under the impression that the kind of audience in Japan that likes samurai shows are older folks who would much rather watch the older live-action adaptations.
It was blatant Korea pandering, but it was still worth watching.
What does that even mean? It's a good show that managed to actually look decent with rather poor animation.
God fucking dammit, Omasa deserves to be happy ;_;
>First and last episode are depressing as fuck
Really makes you think
I waited for 3 months for Heizo's son to stop being useless, but he stayed true to himself until the end.
>Must be hard for a woman like that to get only fucked once every 10 years.
She got the dicks in ep4
Slut.
Too busy fucking prostitutes. At least his parents are cool with it.
All 15 posters report in.
S2 never ever
If we were in Edo, all of the posters would have been thieves.
I really like the "honorable thief" concept.
well, that was not a bad show.
imo the best last season along with gab and konosuba.
really fucking depressed there will never be a season 2.
also does anyone know wtf these borg cubes are?
They're construction site.
hello lads it's been a pleasurable ride and not terribly crowded
It was the 2AM bus of anime.
This was the only anime i watched this season, sucks having refined taste sometimes.
>WIll-o’-the-wisp
Yeah but we'd be working for Heizou in the end.
No more Japanese James Bond for us
What's your favorite episode? Mine's the one with the perfume assassin who got killed by the inn owner,
The one about the chubby guy who was fucking things up and wasting money on prostitutes. The punchline about his dad who told him to live virtuous life was pretty good.
That was a good ride
Dont use word you dont understand kid
>korean pandering
what the fuck does that mean
elderly thief shitting inside the mark's treasury
He didn't even have enough decency to turn his ass away from Heizo.
AOTS
Otomatsu all the day. What a great episode for Ojun and Heizo.
Heizou is the best!
Atleast he didn't die.
Usachu one is pretty great, the twist at the end makes it even better.
ISHYGDDT
Episode 10 by far.
Dead as fuck, but I had fun.
What a depressing episode. I'll miss this show.
It wasn't depressing until the end. This could've ended on a sad yet hopeful note but no, epidemic of all things..
This show was great. Man, we need more like this.
On an unrelated note
>those subs this episode
>behind a double paywall (Prime + Anime Strike)
Fuck Amazon.
I need more Ojun.
I honestly thought he was pretending to be dead and about to live under a new name or something.
Needs the background
Either the first episode or the one where Heizo trolled everyone while on vacation.
Onihei may be my favorite of anime of the winter season. Pretty solid 8.5/10. Heizo is a great husbu too. But poor Omasa. She saves her long lost boyfriend just to have him to from an epidemic like a few months later. The episode that hit me the hardest was when the whole family committed suicide
Apparently, in the original, Heizo cuts off Matataro's arms to make sure he never becomes a bandit again, and Omasa leaves with him
I enjoyed this show's use of tragedy. The sad endings never felt like they were forced on me just to evoke an emotional response, but were presented with a real sense of melancholy and "that's just how it is".
Figures that I find out about this show AFTER it has ended.
Amazon exclusive cursed the show. Thankfully I try everything.
>Other countries which aren't US only have one paywall
I wonder what are they doing.
>Amazon exclusive
Absolutely disgusting.
same
Class subs also this episode was very QUALITY, what the hell.
>pssh nothing personnel
s2 never
...
Really? I've been liking the show, but certain episodes I felt were a little off. In particular the one with the family committing suicide. The son's suicide was well done, with everything shown in the episode up to that point. The parents speaking so proudly about his job, confiding in ojii-san that he couldn't take working there, and then being set up right after that.
That plus the parents grieving would've been perfectly good motivation for ojii-san to rob the shop owner. It would've been great. Instead both parents follow right after, like two or three scenes after the son's death. It just struck me as overkill, like slightly ridiculous. Of course something like that could happen, but for a fictional show I thought they were just dumping on the tragedy when they didn't need to.
Might as well get my ass move and watch this episode since a thread is around.
>Overkill
There son was who they lived for and not to mention in they where Japs. They'llkill themselves over anything even something like wearing mismatched sandals.
Looks like this gangbanger time traveled to old edo.
>What's your favorite episode?
>AOTS will never get a season 2
Got ya nose.
...
>They'llkill themselves over anything even something like wearing mismatched sandals.
Reminds me of some episode of a live-action jidaigeki I watched where wealthy merchants are coerced into killing their daughters and then themselves, because the girls were impregnated via sexual assault.
Aint that some shit, thought the spoilerish post was for the fight. Im extra sad now.Well, they banged at least.
Omasa knows how to avoid rape.
She learned the hard way.
I loved this guy's character design.
He was a little prick and everything about him from his clothes to his hair and goatee screamed "self-entitled douche". Perfect.
Suitable voice too, whoever casted this dude did a good job.
Aye, I had expected the show to end on a hopeful note, seeing how we had a good mix of tragedy and happy episode. Then again, that's just how thing was back then.
I've no doubt it didn't do well in the west but how is the sales in Japan?
Isn't it just book promotion?
Is there a new book? I thought the original property has been around for like 40 years or something and has a shitton of live action shows.
Maybe it just didn't have an anime yet.
I downloaded the first episode but never got around to wathing it, gonna start now. What am I in for?
Medieval japan
Characters that you like will die, but their deaths will serve to remind you how beautiful and transitory life is and that you should live it honorably.
i wanna fuck Omasa
If it meant she could finally be happy, I'd wingman for you.
Then I'd hit up the brothel with Usagi.
The books has been out for generation, this is probably just an adaption for the modern age.
No way there's a new book, the writer specifically stated in his will that no one is to make any new story.
Maybe its for the younger generation?
Great show.
Subs were garbage, animation was lackluster, but the stories were good and they were super successful in evoking the feel of 70s-ish era Jidaigeki and Chanbara. Really enjoyable. Made me super nostalgic for Zatoichi, Lady Snowblood, Lone Wolf and Cub, Samurai Executioner, and all those other great period piece manga, films and TV shows I consumed so heavily years ago.
Fucking this, I cried.
>No way there's a new book, the writer specifically stated in his will that no one is to make any new story.
I guess to avoid folks making fanfics about descendants.
>page 9
One more for the stragglers just finishing or watching the episode to join the last onihei thread ever.
I don't really like episodic shows so that was the major flaw for me.
Honestly, not everything has to have some grand overarching plot.
These three were my favorite episodes. Onihei and ACCA made Tuesdays so damn comfy. Gonna miss the ED.
It doesn't have to, and I enjoy monster of the week type shows, but episodic series with only 13 episodes feel like each episode is a different 4-koma manga. Having literally no overarching plot other than "they work for the crime & arson squad" feels like there was no point watching.
I can't stand ACCA, it just makes me constantly want to eat toast and sweets.
In a relatively underwhelming season, those two really brought my mood up.
Onihei will most likely be forgotten in a year's time by the community at large, but I think some of the episodes will stick with me for a long time to come.
>underwhelming season
I don't know how you can say this unironically. What did you watch?
I usually watch about 12-13 shows to completion - this season I only stuck with 5.
ACCA, Onihei, Maidragon, Konosuba and Rakugo
I will admit to not having watched LWA and Youjou Senki but there were a lot of things that didn't hold my attention/were plain bad.
>season with good comedy
>watch only 2 of them
>didn't watch Kemono Friends
I think you just don't like fun.
