I once saw a great video of a group of japanese guys covering Fuwa Fuwa Time and it sounded amazing, the video was pretty cool too with some cartoony visuals of the boys. But for years I have looked for it and never found it, I'm starting to think I fucking hallucinated it.
To add insult to injury searching for a male version of that song brings up a million terrible videos where some fucker just lowered the pitch of the original.
Fandubs are the worst.

I can't really criticize the translation quality as it basically sounds like some ultra generic teen pop, but I guess in the context of japan it's probably exactly what I described except it sounds better to me since I don't really listen to a lot of japanese music.
I think this one is pretty in line with the original in terms of tone and although I don't remember them explicitly, I feel like the english lyrics here kind of line up more or less with the op dubs I saw when I watched it.
Y'know I'll be damned but there's a couple of hidden gems when it comes to fan dubbing. Most notably is the Nichijou OP1, and I've heard some others that are pretty good too over the years. I think there's a good Re:Zero OP1 out there too, though maybe I'm just imaging it because I like it so much.
