By not being a brainlet

I don't

I don't

I don't

It's a shame but I use myanimelist

If it's worth remembering then I will.

By not being a third worlder poorfag and archiving my stuff.

dir /S Anime\Watched > watched.txt

I horde?

Based macOS tagging system.

Please go away, Genghis Khan.
Only little girls are allowed here.

I didn't even realize how I spelled it. Goodnight, user.

There's literally nothing wrong with MAL as long as you don't visit the forums.

I'm not autistic enough to list shit. I have a pretty good memory anyway. I'm not going to forget things I liked or thought were especially bad.

MAL

My backlog is eternal

By not using MAL.

No it is not.
The Database lists 169776 "episodes" including both long movies and specials, short commercials, and other unnecessary stuff, averaging to 20 minutes per episode.
56592 hours of anime, watching 12 hours per day every day, means roughly 13 years to finish your current backlog forever. Add a year or two for airing stuff.
That also includes hentai, untranslated and impossible to obtain stuff, not to mention pure unwatchable shit, reducing the number even further.

A backlog is eternal so long as it shrinks too slowly to be finished before the end of your life.
That means, the question depends on how much anime you watch, how much you add to your backlog and how old you are likely to get.

I don't. I often find myself picking up a series, only to find halfway through that I've seen it before. I don't think this is a bad thing, being stupid allows me to constantly enjoy things.

I have good memory

Bad memory. The advantage of a bad memory is that, several times over, one enjoys the same good things for the first time.

If it's worth remembering I'll remember it. If not, there's no point in remembering it.

My anime list.

By not being a senile old fuck?

Come on user, even literal retards have functioning memory.

Sure is a lot of sub 20 anime watched guys in here relying on their memory. I didn't know it's summer already.

Why tho...

Lay off the meth. Do you need a list to remember which songs you've heard too?

Taiga

Must be nice to have memory that doesn't decay with age, most of us sadly have to rely on our failing squishy human brains.

But I respect androids like you too, it's all cool.

Maybe he's one of those anime experts who only watches one show per year, since the industry is dying and their standards are so high that they can only watch toppest quality stuff (they're so good at anime that they can determine what anime is top quality with one glance).

i use MAL
i honestly don't understand why it is so hated on Sup Forums. it's just a website for keeping track of your anime (and for discussion but i never post anything)

Who has better taste?

or this?

Those are popularity contests, not measures of taste or quality.

I rate them, but not on MAL

Back when people used to rely on memorization, things used to be better.

Nowadays, people do not remember what they watch. Modern youth are degenerates and devolving as a human.

Because newfags don't think for themselves and try too hard to fit in
Instead of hating on the MAL forum and ranking system, like everybody, they hate everything related to MAL

that was probably when there were only 3 anime, times have changed

Go to bed socrates

I didn't realize how much of Sup Forums had an eidetic memory able to instantly recall both the romaji and localized titles of all 900+ TV series they've ever seen in alphabetical order along with voice casting, director and studio information.

I use Taiga.
I don't even need to visit MAL because I connect my account to it.

I'm terrible at remembering names of shows and characters, but I can remember things that happen in shows, so I use 2 lists and a calendar.

upvoted

it's the MAL community that ruin it for me. nothing against the site

>it's the MAL community that ruin it for me
>community

You don't even have to visit the damn site after you make your account. Just use it as a backend database and interact with it with something client like Taiga. Taiga is Windows only for now, but there are options on pretty much every platform.

With a text file.

MAL

I am not so immature that I refuse to use a simple way of tracking my anime just because of Sup Forums maymays.

I did the same with vidya but not movies or film

Excel

I honestly dont keep track. Sure there are shows that I'll never forget but checking my HDD and browsing through the stuff Ive watched before and watching them again has its nice moments

MAL

MyAnimeList.

I'm starting to see he effect of my dementia and it's really useful.

That's pretty fucking generic taste, friend.

MAL because remembering 430+ shows is a hassle. As long as you don't interact with the community it's fine.

Like this

I don't.

MAL

I have a little .rtf document I list them in and also write down a few thoughts about each series. Sometimes just a paragraph but sometimes quite an essay depending.

I don't. I look at my list and it has shit on it that I have no memory of seeing.

Used to use MAL only for the list, moved it all to a spreadsheet with an inconspicuous work-sounding filename so I don't need internet access to fuck with it.

>TV: 20

If someone mentions it I can remember it.

>commas for decimal points
Disgusting

I just watch whatever I can't immediately remember I've seen before. About 1 episode in, I remember it, and either rewatch or stop right there. It's an effective way of rewatching, remembering what I've seen before, and keeping the criticisms fresh in my mind.

I'm sorry

>spending time making a list of shows
why, just use your brain

>Error: Comment too long (9929/2000).

Couldn't you have let the rest of us stalk him in peace without alerting him?

>Based Taiga
This, I just wish it didn't bug out folder creation for same anime titles. Most recent examples being Youjo Senki and Exorcist.

Animeplanet > MAL

The only downside is they don't have hentai

if I don't remember watching it it's probably not worth remembering.

>using an anime website unironically
might as well hang yourself right now

>bug out folder creation for same anime titles
Elaborate? I've also had some detection issues, but they were usually more to do with a poor filename on the release.

I only remember the visuals and story, not even he names, they are not important

Finally someone on this site with decent taste.

...

I really don't know, I thought the exorcist was bugging because of name length, but Youjo Senki is short and doesn't have any specific symbols.
It's probably only bugs out for me side, I tried deleting and redownloading through Taiga, but it just threw them in the root folder without creating the specific one.

MAL. due to its popularity and size the chances are minimal, that you will find a title with incorrect/missing information in the database. other than that I like the fact that I can keep track of my watching habits via malgraph. it feels good to see a number (time in this case) to count up, plus having statistics is a nice gimmick.

just make sure you don't take a look at the ongoing discussions in the forums or take the scoring too seriously

Not gonna remember more than 100 shows

>>spending time
No need to spend time, programs like Taiga perform auto detection and update the list unattended.

I've already watched every anime on the clean side of nyaa, now I'm heading over to fap side to watch all the H anime
Don't need to keep track because I have half a brain

I've been using their community for years. I can see the point of signing up to just make a list though because of their recommendations and shit, not to mention satisfying your autistic love for creating lists, but there's no point in blocking out the entire community, despite what some people here want you to believe not everyone on MAL is a flaming faggot, granted Sup Forums is still miles ahead for discussions but it's nice to have some variety. Still it's understandable why a lot of people here hate it, having a look around the site the amount of crossposters is clear as day and I'm talking the meme spouting underage who openly admit they browse Sup Forums, I don't care what sites you use as long as you don't bring your shit over here and vice versa.

I have a MAL. Mostly so I can keep track of the things I'd like to watch later. I don't score. I either liked it or I didn't, no need to get technical about it.

Doesn't matter, it's only for e-peen. I've read thousands of manga but only around 500 anime. I don't even remember some of the titles; only the title covers.

Just bookmark that shit

How the fuck does that even work?

>Gintama
>Gintama
>Gintama
>Gintama
>Gintama

If you like the show, fine, but does it really need all of it's incarnations listed separately? There are 3 Mushishis too, so instead of a top 30 it's more like a top 24.

>genuinely using MAL
End yourselves.

If they had any sense, they would have introduced a "series" super tag that all related incarnations, manga and other relevant media that could be grouped in a singular franchise and had relational linking like anidb does.

If you're too stupid to remember if you've watched something or not, just watch it again. If you can't even remember the title, you're probably not going to remember anything else about it.

>MAL
Yeah, let's include all season of Gintama as entirely new shows. Why even use that shit?
