Jinbei's always been a teasing smug asshole and I think he was trying to demonstrate how his abilties work to the rest of UQ Holder.
The anime's first art style wasn't good, no real progression in the anime, and it was almost all harem or gag, little battling. The OVA and OADs by shaft are pretty good, though.
