They are getting their balls squeezed by the government(s) and will give in to the tax man, its already happened with coinbase, and the rest of the exchanges are following.

The only people that don't see this are the small timers cashing a few hundred out on amazon gift cards or in person.

Now almost all banks, even former tax havens are reporting to your country of tax residence, soon there will be no escape.

Crypto earnings are useless if you can't cash out without losing half to the tax man or face an audits and they can actually outlaw the exchanges at any time rending coins worthless.

That's where you are wrong. Exchanges are completely centralised. Doesn't mater how decentralised or anonymous your shitcoin is. If you actually want to spend it you have to go though an exchange of some kind, and you will eventually have to pay tax on it, as they are now reporting to tax authorities.

Any threat that crypto might have been to the state will be killed by leaning on the exchanges to provide all of your details so they can chase you down for taxes.

Today, right now it is $17 USD. Even on a $1 cup of coffee.
