I saw it in theatres today and the subs were noticeably bad. Is this normal with anime in the theatres? Is that the part when Mitsuha first talks to Taki's friends at lunch while in his body? I can't remember exactly how she puts it because it was a bit awkward. She's kind of stumbling over words when explaining how she got lost and says something about a girl, than corrects to "gal" and then finally to "guy". And then says something like "ya know, guys just wanna have fun".

I mean, there are plenty of non-human characters in the movie. Like the dogs.

Also the tone of the voices were changed depending who was in who's body.

I think it might be his weakest work, minus Children of the Deep which was awful.

The most glaring one was the joke, and cutaway, where they were doing the spit sake and talking about selling it. It was definitely forced in there, it wasn't like any of his previous films.

Also the boob and penis jokes were pretty low brow as well. It didn't feel like Shinkai, I'd say it was closer to something like Summer Wars or A Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Both of which are fine movies, but I expected something better out of Shinkai.
