how the fuck do you have "fake symbolism"? Symbolism is the simplest thing ever it's impossible not to have. The American flag is a symbol for America. Having a cross in your chinese cartoon is not fake symbolism. It's just a cross. You know how many movies there are about greek or roman or norse folklore? fake symbolism would no longer be symbolism by the Merriam Webster dictionary definition of it because it would no longer stand for or suggest the subject. So fake symbolism is not symbolism, but rather, the object. So a cross in Evangelion, if not suggesting religion, would just be a normal cross. Therefore, it is impossible to have fake symbolism, since fake symbolism no longer fits its own definition.
