Yoshitoshi ABe Appreciation Thread

His style and vision is unique. I've finished Lain and on Haibane Renmei episode four, this man's a genius.

HR was aired almost 15 years ago, nowadays he draws just some KanColle art from time to time.

What is Despera about? I've only known it as something that I want for several years

Something about a tec savy loli but it happens before modern computing would become invented.

Have fun with HR's second part, it's one hell of an emotional ride.

I always love when people watch that show for the 1st time, they have no idea how much foreshadowing or indirect characterization they are actually missing on. That's what makes this show so great, and even better on a rewatch.

Anime with all the crew behind Experiments Lain working on it. The production hit a wall when Ryutaro Nakamura (Lain's director) died of pancreatic cancer a few years back. ABe said they had a new director, but that was two years ago.
Thanks, looking forward to it! This is one show that I've stayed off the internet for because I really want to avoid spoilers.

Haibane is the type of show that's even better when you know where it ends up getting at, that's how good this show is.

>Haibane Renmei

Do their wings twitch when they orgasm?

dude i fucking love ABe's art so much

DO NOT LEWD THE HAIBANE

Nightly /abe/ thread? You're at least two hours too early.

For whatever reason I like to pair ABe with lofi and alcohol. It is a comfy combination.

Lo-fi, you say?

His art is nice

Sounds good to me.

It was going to be a spiritual successor to Lain. MC was even called "Ain".

I was just thinking about Despera a moment ago.

I want to cuddle with Ain and ruffle up her hair.

>you will never hear her voice

How do I deal with this feel, man?

>Ain

ABEEEEEEE

I drink, mostly.

I'm also going to buy her book and learn Japanese so I can read it.

Lack of an adaptation will not keep me from her.

I still don't know who the one with the tie is.

Phenomeno, there was also an VN that was made to promote the LN.

Just finished Lain and I'm pretty confused, what exactly happened in summary? I know people were killing themselves to become one with the wired but there's more that confused me.

Thanks!

Haibane Renmei ep6 is the really really good episode.

He just made the designs for Lain, Ueda was responsible for the concept. It's retarded and sad how people never mention him.

Watch it again, the best part is putting it all together yourself.

people are too busy arguing about deep and pretentious and forget that the point of depth is sublety - I.E. that you can still get new experiences from watching it many more times after the first. Watch it again and it's easier to get the point of it all.

>and on Haibane Renmei episode four
Oh boy, you're in for a wild ride. I wish I could be watching it for the first time again.

It would have been if Kuu wasn't worst Haibane. Not that she's particularly bad, but with a cast like that someone has to be.

I rewatched the last three episodes of Niea_7 recently and as mediocre as some of that show can be, those last ones really hit hard.

You have to watch it a few times and probably on different drugs

I also think if you just try to figure it all out instead of just experiencing it you lose something

I prefer the suffering of 7 onwards.

Yeah. Ueda, Konaka and Nakamura were all at least equally important to the show's quality.
