>getting

It's the equivalent of YA literature here in the west - shit that keeps selling. LN market is really responsible for that, anime and manga are just a reflection.

It got popular, so it'll be around for a while.

I love fantasy but I'm getting tired of isekai as well, thankfully there's a few fantasy shows without it airing.

My problem with Isekai is it basically doesn't contribute anything to the story. MC is just transported from our world because it's a fad at the moment.

How about reverse isekai where someone from the magical world gets transported to the normal world

there is actually,

Speaking of this did the one with a female knight get picked up by scanlation groups?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shōsetsuka_ni_Narō

Literally the reason for this.

Imagine if fanfiction.net started churning out anime.

not as stale as people making threads asking for opinions that dont mean a fucking thing.

bigger problem is that most LNs are garbage step above your average fan fiction

I wish christmas cakes were as big as isekai.

Why did this term become so popular with Re:Zero?

Isekai has been around for a long time. Back further than even Magical Knights Rayearth. It ain't going anywhere

Those are impressive figures. Are we talking novel NOVEL here or Japanese light novel?

>responding to leafs

just ignore it user

Don't be delusional. AOTS last season was Isekai and this season will be too.

Re:Zero kickstarted the Isekai boom.

I pronounce it "ice kai" just to poss people off, and god damn, it works.

LN style. You can check the site for yourself and google translate for reference. Why do you think they get so many volumes?

>interacting with worthless husks of human beings

You sure showed them

You mean SAO did
Re:Zero is nothing compared to that
And SAO is better

It's a concept, not a genre.

Like Re:Creators?

You mean El-Hazard did
SAO is nothing compared to that
And El-Hazard is better

I recommend Magical Sisters: Yoyo and Nene.
Saw it at the cinema, it was pretty comfy.

Anyway, pic related remains the best isekai.

You didn't have to force yourself to say SAO is good just to spite Re:Zerofags.

I don't think it did though. It just became a huge thing on Sup Forums and now everybody talks about isekai.

I agree bring magical girlfriends back, it's been long enough.

I never said it's good, I said it's better

It's about as stale as fiction itself.

While the last line is clearly bait, its true that re:zero has nothing to do with all the recent isekai spam, those are all adaptions of work that have been going on as long as re:zero.

On the other hand, after the SAO LN success definitely lead to the genre growing to an unfathomable size.

It was a lot of fun for about a year, maybe two. I wonder what comes after this.

It culminated with Re:Zero, Youjo Senki was the last good one.
wtf i hate isekuck now

I guess Re:Creators is an exception in this regard?

Is Creators good? I didn't add it when it came out but I've heard from a few people it's actually solid and have been thinking about throwing it in with my lot this season, but I'm already pretty full.

It's already stale.

99% of every 'isekai' is just set in another generic high fantasy setting.

And what makes his opinion different from those few people you heard from? Watch and form your own opinions faggot.

>While the last line is clearly bait
see

I value the opinions of people who I'd assume would regularly browse a board dedicated to anime over those I know do not.
Also majority-bias strengthens with every vocal advocate, one more to the mix doesn't hurt.

The moment when even Rezero didnt manage to deconstruct it was the moment it was fucked.

You are the reason why there are so many vocal shitposters

No I'm pretty sure that's because of Evangelion.

I can count at very least 2 that got anime adaptation.

not for another 10 years.

...

There's some knowledge cheat LN but none animated.

> Genre
You fucking idiots don't even get it through your skulls. It's not a genre. It's just a fucking setting you dipshits.

why are there so few isekai in non-fantasy settings?

...

She reminds me of what Fry would be like if he were an anime girl.

Go fuck yourself. Watch it or don't watch it, bitch.

>isekai story with modern weapon and tactics
>isekai story with modern laws
>isekai story with potato
>isekai story with popular J-culture
>isekai story with modern medicine
>isekai story with Japanese cuisine
>isekai story with japanese toilet and associated toiletries
>isekai story with modern convenience money can buy (literally)

What did I miss?

Also, any other potential isekai story in yo mind? I for one would like to see an isekai story about about abducted princess in a dungeon guarded by evil warlock and dragons, but instead of yo typical charming prince, the guy is a disgrunted, disillusioned former Navy SEAL who were transported to medieval fantasy period to save the princess.

Sounds straightforward enough? No. The King is well aware about our protagonist's origin and there's actually a representative of US gubmint (via CIA) in the King's court, so our MC has access to any weaponry that he can afford, even a squad black ops guy in black helicopters to save the princess

Depends on what exactly you mean with "isekai".

If you mean the 30+ unemployed virgin self-insert goes to a parallel world and becomes successful-type, then I wonder when you ever perceived it as not stale.

Isekai is timeless though. how many times has Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz been revisited?

While I like the idea of the protag being extremly competent, what you just posted reeks of power fantasy unfirtunatly

...

I'd like a reverse.
Chivalrous Knight comes from a generic medieval setting and tries to make our world reflect his idealistic, traditionalist one.
Though, if it has to be to another world, a negotiator from ours going to another world with more of an emphasis on political maneuvering.

Ufotable can be very creative at times, jesus why cant they do it now?

What.

a farmer from the middle ages isekai into a post apocalyptic world and he has to figure out what happened and how to survive

He won't last a chapter like all the farmers in the middle ages and current times when there's a famine

SAO III will save the genre, the same way it kickstarted it, dw

It isn't stale yet if they don't do my idea.
MC is from a normal world that is being plague by mysterious disappearances. One day, while MC was coming back from the toilet and entering the classroom, a big magic circle flash and disappears in front of him taking all of his classmates with it. Him being perplexed called the teacher who informed the principal and thus called the police and close the school down. MC was taken as a witness of the incident.
Actually, the recent mysterious incidents was caused by other realities summoning people to fight for them. The collective world government have known this for quite a while and is withholding this information from the rest of the world.
MC will join a group of people like him, which are people that manage to avoid getting summoned to another world. They were chosen because the hypothesis is that people that were picked have some innate talent that can help to save the people that were "kidnapped". Join MC as he saves people from the horrible life of being forced to fight for the safety of another world.

I call it Re:Isekai.

I don't mind Isekai but I legit want to know how much this shit can sell until it gets boring for the next generation. I really want to know what tropes haven't been explored yet properly in anime/manga?

Why haven't anyone translated this? Bet /ak/ would like doing things like this.

What about an isekai where a group of people get transported and the world fullfils everyones wish fullfilment fantasy, but the MC doesn't buy any of this shit and just eants to go home and he will drag everyone with him if needed to even if they were miserable in the previous world.

ok how about this
a tits guy isekai into a world where women only have big butts

THIS is the pinnacle of isekai.
Why are there no stories more like this?

Former friends turning on you not because they're assholes but because they have different interests made me hate the characters but still respect their motives.

No. The execution of it is. The genre just has terrible authors but isekai can be interesting. If the author can breathe life into a world that they made then it'll be good but if it's just "generic fantasy world with elves and dwarfs #12345346456" then it's almost always doomed to fail. This extends to VRMMO's.
You're literally making a unique world with no limits and the best these people come up with is shit we've already seen. What's worse is that the MC's are always the most generic shit and have the same reactions to shit. Also cop-outs of getting a power that's broken or the ability to understand all languages. It's dumb.

Why don't they learn from any shonen series? Those literally make new and different worlds everytime. Don't they have the imagination like those shonen authors?

I loved FFTA, even is fans would argue FFT was more highbrow.

Though I will defend to my dying day that staying in Ivalice would be infinitely superior to returning to the real world even if you argue its escapism, because fuck this gay earth.

Then you learned absolutely nothing from based Marche, shame on you.

What's the problem with escapism anyway? Before I used anime and manga as a form of escapism, my life was much more depressing. Escapism is better than nothing.

Escapism once in a while is fun and okay, it's just that when you run away permanently from life's problems that it turns dangerous.

I think it's just an issue with gimmicky authors. A lot of what is churned out has 1-2 unique things in them and that's it. Everything else is shit. I'm an amateur/aspiring novelist and I can shit out a more organic story than half of these retards. I drop most of the LN's I read now because it's the same shit different color.

Also I believe they just fucking massively suck at world-building. They create the world on the most superficial level and focus the story around the cast of characters. If the characters don't interact with a nation then that nation will not be fleshed out and just be mentioned by name. This is bad because, at least personally, a lot of the neat interactions comes from fleshing out your world and seeing how things would naturally play out. Not "Well the MC needs to go to a close nation that is friendly to beastmen. Okay I'll make that. Now he needs to meet a wealthy nobel that'll accept him as an adventurer. Okay I'll make that"

This creates a very linear and predictable story. If instead they would make the nations before the story or at least not cater to the story then the outcomes would end up being more fluid and organic. Your story just increases in quality when you put your character into a world and the other way around.

Devil Is A Part Timer

>life's problems
There is no such a thing, user.

Most authors focus on the character relationships instead of world building or developing the surrounding environment. I can see if the area is a small rural country that doesn't have shit in it, but quite a few LN's take place in expansive places and it's always a waste when the author hypes it up just to ignore it for the most part.

Everyone has problems in life. What do you mean?

I think harem stories are the worst offenders, it's legit the same shit unaware MC who can't wrap his head around the thought of fucking the females around him. Same can be said about the waifus too, same shit different coating of pussy.

it always was

most of them were made by the Japanese version of B^U so they are never all that good on the whole "quality" thing

>Everyone
Who's everyone? And what's everyone's problem?

but SAO isn't an isekai

>life's problems
You mean the starving children in africa and the pandas that haven't fucked?

my question is why isn't there any Isekai where the MC is transported to a space opera world?

>Другий-мир Путин

>Relationships
>Career/Job/Studies
>Health
I can guarantee you you've had or have problems from the three things listed.

See

That would be fine if they were actually skilled in making interesting relationships between their characters. Also I would argue focusing on the relationships of the characters as the main prioty only works well in either a certain style or other genres such as rom-coms. Not world building in isekais defeats the purpose of having it an isekai to begin with unless the author just wants to either roll with the fotm shit or have a "OMG I'M IN A WORLD THAT'S NOT EARTH!!!!!" then have everything be a reskinned earth just with magic.

All I'm saying is that authors use these things as crutches and don't develop the skills to make an interesting story. Sure it may make a lot of money but it's only appealing to the lowest common denominator. It's really not that hard to world build if you practice and put in effort.

it just makes it 100x times easier to self insert into some loser hiki neet teenage jap boy than a character that was born in the alternate world.

So who's everyone again?

Where do you think you are?

Russians love their isekais
translate.google.com/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&u=https://www.livelib.ru/selection/32039-top-rossijskih-knig-o-popadantsah

>reincarnated in inverse-earth
>everything he created based on earth's common sense becomes powerful weapons
>he is called the demon lord secretly by the world leaders
>all world leaders are afraid of him
>meanwhile he isn't aware of it and wonder why the fuck everyone calls him genius
And it's not harem, and it's fucking romcom.
Kind of nice it gets translated since most of translated isekai is muh adventure and harem.

I can never self insert into Kazuma's and his fake hikkineet bullshit. Never watch Re zero though.

what makes kazuma fake? he was a loser irl but now that hes in australia hes gotten alot more obvious in his scummy ways. aqua wont even let him die untill he beats DK , but he still just wants to live dat sweet neet life with all the money he earned.

whats wrong with rem:zero? besides subaru being a lil bitch I mean.

Just play Final Fantasy Tactics.

I hate re;zero. I do not like the dynamic he has with other characters and he himself has very few redeeming qualities.

His massive obsession with female lead is probably the main reason. Also the way he interacts with other characters. This is a problem when you make your character a loser neet and have him fall for a girl at first glance. It creates 0 respect for the MC.

RE:monster is doing well for itself.Already has a mobage which of all things was translated to English.

>that pic
