Thanks, I was guessing that was the case. The eyes and shape of the faces made me think of heartcatch (not so much the outfits).

Sometimes series have separate credits for costume design, but that's not the case with Kira as far as I can tell. I assume Marie Ino was responsible for the costumes as said.

Maho is actually better than Kirakira so far in terms of the first 15 or so episodes, but I agree, KiraKira is still really good. /pc/ is just dead because there is nothing to argue about, since KiraKira is unanimously loved by everyone here.

I'm going to be honest here at the risk of sounding like a Goprick. I think some Maho fans who didn't like people calling it out for having a bad plot that not even the cures cared about are mad that Kira is good despite its apparent lack of one. But Kira is written and structured in a way that benefits from focusing on character conflict and the patisserie, and when the Gummies mess up whatever they're baking each episode, it's both personal and also related to the bigger conflict about the meaning of sweets and kirakiraru. They're for everyone to share and spread joy, both if you're making them or eating them. Hogging them all to yourself at the expense of others, and not even eating the food yourself runs counter to that.

Maho had a great plot.

It was just styled more like Futari Wa or Splash Star where the girls didn't really focus as much on that stuff and it was more about them just going about their lives while being interrupted bu the villains, how many times in early seasons would the girls be listening to the villains monologue and tell them to just "fuck off we don't care"?. They certainly cared about Haa too when they got her.

Mahou's plot was good though. KiraKira doesn't really have a plot and has a "victim of the week" kind of format like heartcatch, but, as someone who hates HC with a passion and who actually loves Kira^2, KiraKira's victim of the week works because the individual stories and stuff of the "victims" are short, simple, and cute, and none of them are too ambitious because the show knows what it is and knows that it can't properly communicate anything profound in like 15 minutes. HC was way too fucking dramatic.

In short, I'd say KiraKira is just HC done right; I don't think Mahou is a very good comparison.

I find Kira Kira fun so far but it's also kind of "off" to me. It just feels odd and I'm not really sure how much I like it. I like cat and dog at least.

To be honest I couldn't get into either Maho or Gopri but I'm enjoying Kira more than any other show this season. It's a lot of fun.
