Hyouka

Here's a question, why was this animated?

Yes it's a beautiful masterwork of craft and skill, but in what way did the medium help the storytelling? Everything could have been acted out instead and shot live action.

Try to answer something other than just "2D>3D"

zzzzzzzzz

...

Japanese actors are terrible in acting. Seriously. Compare it with Hollywood or Korean Drama. Japanese live action is often awkward and lifeless.

Visual symbolism

Eru sarkling purple eyes with vines wrapping around MC etc.

He's shitposting but it's a question worth asking and discussion on the subject will help us better understand the strengths of the medium.

Literally how is this possible in live-action?

>it's a question worth asking
No, it's not.

...

I disagree

It's useful to know what a work got out of being animated that it wouldn't have in a different medium.

Because only 2D lets them add visual gimmicks like that lavishly animated shot of her hair coiling around him (because he feels compelled by her, in case you didn't get it).

More to the point only 2D lets them be cute, without which no-one would care.

>it's a question worth asking
It shouldn't even cross your mind

Well I suppose we can find out when the live action movie comes out.
Next time you make this thread, use LoGH as your subject, you'll have a whale of a time.

I can't imagine the live action even coming close to the anime.

Well, there are people who don't have autism in the world. For these people body language and facial expressions are a form of communication and are actually very great assets of conveying thoughts and intention that could not be done otherwise.

Any other bright questions OP?

Why not?

CGI dumbass

>For these people body language and facial expressions are a form of communication and are actually very great assets of conveying thoughts and intention that could not be done otherwise.
You mean things that are better done in live action than in anime?

Live action isn't some kind of default where, unless you're live action, you need to justify it. Art isn't the kind of thing which needs that. Hyouka is animated because the people who made it are animators.

Because only 2D lets them add vizzzzzz

It's only as good as the actors are in live action. And Japanese actors are garbage.

I don't mean with the implication that one is better than the other, but it's worth asking ehat the show gained from it's medium, and what it lost.

What I'm saying is there is no gaining or losing between art forms because they are ontologically separate

>3D
everyone knows jap acting is garbage. they're so awkward

The greatest actors of all time are Japanese you cuck.

I disagree. They're both film, and each does certain things better than the other. They're easy to compare and contrast.

>cuck
Go back.

Because KyoAni wanted to make it.

There's literally no other need for any reason than that. A lot of people's motivations and dreams comes from "I want to do X", and that's basically what you build your life upon. Why would adapting a novel be any different.

Also, their visual storytelling was amazing, those small short cardboard cutouts etc to show the story. Pic related

>visual storytelling

Sorry, I dont understand?

>Yes it's a beautiful masterwork
Stopped reading right there. Not even worth the (You)

I'm with the other guy, you're going to have to elaborate.

they're pretentious buzzwords

You're kidding me, right?

Visual storytelling is not a comolicated concept and sort of a requirement for a visual medium like anime.

Again with the pretentious buzzwords.

D you even know what buzzword means because I think you meant obscure there.

Yeah, and I certainly didn't mean obscure.

I don't even know what your point is but you certainly seem retarded

I am gonna have to agree with Japanese acting/directing in TV shows is below average as in most countries.

Girl looks like she's 30.

2D > 3D is a perfectly valid argument because true beauty cannot be achieved in 3D.

Hyouka is overrated shit though.

This isn't for Hyouka specifically but a lot of the points apply to many anime that you would ask this question about.

The least we can hope for is them to find a better script writer.
Stuff like
>muh energy consumption
>muh database
>muh kininarimasu
Will sound even more awkward in live action. They would actually sound like autists.

Bump

>>muh energy consumption
>>muh database
>>muh kininarimasu
What's wrong with those?

I have autism so I can't handle teenagers saying weird things.

Ignore this goober:But I regret to inform you that real people don't talk like this. Then again this board is filled with autists. Shouldn't be surprised if they actually talk like this.

pretty much

Why do you even watch anime?

>Why was it animated?
Because animation allows the creators to hand craft every frame, make every aspect of the show look the way they want to. Every aspect of the visuals is controlled, which is virtually impossible in live action.

Are we done now?

Why are you in his thread?

Because I like Hyouka.

Why do you have shit taste?

Why does anyone have any taste?

>real people don't talk like this
What is your point? Real people also aren't purposefully made to fill roles of characters in classical detective stories to comment on the interactivity of fiction.
