I'm reading this otherwise very good manga, but one thing is really frustrating me.

Why is there an omega male loser hero in this one? Why is there such a hero in every damn manga out there? Submissive, self-sacrificial, socially retarded, can't hurt or kill others, unrelistically gets girls, but won't use any opportunity. I understand, that it's the target audience, but is it all what manga has to offer? It spoils the fun everytime in otherwise good entertainment.

Is there a single manga with a bearable hero, who's not essentially a loser?

Read this and skip the sequel.

It's garbage.

But i just started a sequel, and it got unbearably frustrating which prompted me to make this thread. Disappointment in something you devoted your time to is not a fun feeling. Is there an alternative?

Is there a single manga out there?

There are plenty of manga with strong main characters for every genre. It's just that the weak loser is a self-insert for many guys around the world, and helps them feel better about themselves as it gives hope that they could better themselves.

IMO Shi-Woon being weak in the beginning really strengthens the second half of New Waves as it gives you a solid foundation on his morals and why he does things the way he does.

He doesn't really get better until after the blood stealing thing and even then he's kinda eh

>There are plenty of manga with strong main characters for every genre.
So you know a single one for shounen with plenty of action?

I've read hajime no ippo, and while the hero falls perfectly under the OP description it was a fun experience due to the humor and Berserk's Guts while being a self-sacrificial hero with little social skills at least had some love life and is not a push over pacifist.

Do you know a single one manga that avoids this type of hero altogether or improves the hero significantly in his social skills, well-roundness and sexual appeal?

it's not a manga it's a manhwa

DO NOT READ THE SEQUEL, BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE DIAPPOINTED, READ VERITAS AS WELL.

Whoa, huge difference
Hate being a quitter since i put so much time into this. Might as well finish it quickly to learn the complete story.

And still there is no solution to the problem thats present.

>And still there is no solution to the problem thats present.
Read Veritas. That will answer your question.

The guy above told that Veritas will add to the disappointment, with the loser hero most probably. Is that so?

Veritas MC is pretty all right. The problem is the storyline. 6/10, would not read again.

VERITAS
E
R
I
T
A
S

Probably has on of my all time favorite MCs. It's also a manwha, the korean techniques/names are confusing sometimes, but in terms of Art/fights it's better than The breaker imo.

I'll warn you right away, there is only a first season of 80 chapters or something. there was supposed to be a second one but the author and artist parted ways. The artist is still active, so we can only hope the series finds a continuation.

>loser hero
That's not the issue, the ending is. I stomached it because of the MC. Come and suffer with us and read it.

I haven't read the sequel yet, but I don't think this MC is bad. He's a "loser" in the sense that he sucks at fighting, not that he's whiny and weak willed like a harem protagonist. Sure, he starts as a coward, but quickly gets better in that respect and start acting on his own and standing up for himself.

Hokuto no ken is a masterpiece of an anime. Didn't read manga, but thanks to bringing it up.

Those a monstrously large shounens though. Are sone of those for mature audience? I messed up terms and mistakengly mentioned shounen previously, my apologize. I expect one piece, dragonball and bleach to be young teen entertainment - shounen. I'd love a seinen or mature anime, and picked up breaker for it was listed as seinen, but got a story with a defective young teen as a protagonist as if it were shonen or fan service harem.

>weak at fighting
Weak at fighting ? when was he weak at fighting? shit the first chapters are him kicking a crowd's ass. don't misguide him before he even reads it and let him enjoy the ride.

Alright, seems interesting)

What's so bad about the sequel? I was looking forward to reading it.

>Might as well finish it quickly to learn the complete story.
>complete story
user, about that...

Shit... Is it ongoing? It can't be as bad a berserk though, i experienced the worst already

I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. I'm replying to OP about The Breaker, which he says he has already read. And I assume you think I'm discussing some other series, for some unfathomable reason.

It starts slow, Shion is annoying, and it has worse pacing than the original. Shion also becomes a very gary stu like

The protag isn't loser because of his fighting ability. At that he's an incredible talent. It's his social skills, sexual appeal, naive pacifism, females' friendzone he does everything for and tsunderes that are impossible for such male to have, and he fails them as well.

ah yeah my bad, I thought you were following the discussion and mistakenly replied to Op. thought you were talking about veritas. nevermind then.

try holyland. Martial arts manga thats similar with a weak MC that gets alpha af later on

That's what a need. Thanks.

Shamo is also another good martial arts manga where the MC is the biggest asshole you'll ever see.
Pic related (kengan ashura) is also really good but kinda new and short

Tiji-kun

Oh, i actually read it halfway through. This one is sure unusual with a different type of hero. It lacks direction, coherency and puts me to depression and depression is not fun. But Shamo is sure an interesting one.

It was "finished" so I doubt it.

Fuck off with your gookshit, dog eater.

>when the kid you bullied gets strong so you take some stupid drug because you want to beat him up

Does anyone know any update about season 3?

Never

>manga
Also why is this literal rec thread still alive?

Man, I remember reading the sequel week-after-week until I eventually gave up because it was just so FUCKING slow.

Read Kyou Kara Ore Wa!, the MC in it is the direct opposite of the 'beta' hero but isn't overly edgy.

Pretty sure the artists are still working on another story. They didn't want the breaker series to be their only work

I came to conclusion that manhwas are better than mangas. Art and characters are definitely more beautiful, there is more grace and class in characters and their interactions. I got hooked on pornhwa household affairs as goofy and fun as it is, there is no alternative in manga to that.

It's not getting a continuation. It's a great series but I don't recommend it to people for this reason, it pisses me off that it'll never be finished.

Similar deal with Teppu, though while also a rushed premature conclusion it was handled marginally better than it was in Veritas.

Alright, thank you

This makes me wonder if Japanese kids are becoming beta because of manga, or if manga MCs are more and more beta because of Japanese kids being like that.

OP truly is the Yomanga Gook Shill.

it's just, you know it's funny you calling it a generic manga when it isn't even a manga.

New Waves gets really, really good, I liked the second half of it better than any of Part 1. Won't spoil, but shit hits the fan and the MC finally becomes alpha.

Part 3 never, fuck this gay earth

I guess it's also the Korean kids. It seems the more developed a nation is economically, the worse and more defective a male there becomes. Sad.

Who are your top three girls in the Breaker, both parts?

1. Jinie
2. Shiho
3. Sera

excellent taste

>recommending Veritas
Don't do this

Top taste, dude.

Definitely the blonde teacher from the first one. She's the most feminine, normal and has the best looks.

Least attractive is definitely the ninja sunwoo girl from the beginning of the sequel that i didn't finish. Pure annoyance.

You as well

>Vertias gets hype as fuck towards the end with the school being slaughtered
>OH SHIT ITS GETTING REA
>its never coming back

Oh...

Dont reccomend Shamo

A third of the story is retconned immediately after its completed, and then he goes and fights a ballerina.

Shamo IS a wrecked mess that just keeps getting messy

>Whoa, huge difference
It is. Sup Forums is for manga and anime. Your gookshit on the other hand belongs in Sup Forums or /trash/.

But how did koreans manage to start making better mangas than japs, without having proper education and decades of experience and legacy? Truly fascinatting.

Since where talking about fighting shit did anyone like Gekiryuuchi. Its pretty short only 25 chapters but pretty good.

This is what delusional gook shills like you believe.

New Waves is part 2 out of 3, and the author+artist are taking a break from the series at the moment.

Why is Jinie such a best?

Elder Kwon was a real badass.

What did Saehee do wrong?

Befriended Smiling Blade without knowing anything.

She was born.

But how is she supposed to learn anything to begin with?

Well, yeah. That kinda leads into a larger question about whether the author knows what to do with her character anymore. I don't think she's reappeared since the school attack, and Shioon literally forgot she existed and hasn't contacted her, so she probably doesn't even know if he's alive or dead, unless she saw him on TV during the finale.

wow man it's been years since I read this.. the weekly updates were so slow. When is part 3 coming out tho? New waves was kinda meh, gramps' fights were fucking brutal tho

She is just a normal girl that is too far removed from the actual interesting parts of the series. So she kind of becomes irrelevant. It is actually smart of the MC to distance himself with her as the people he was close to were getting attacked.

Sun Ken Rock is what you're looking for. He's still a bit socially retarded but he at least beats the ever-living shit out of things

Veritas is shit because it's never being finished. Even shitty stories are better then it because at least they reached a conclusion.

season 3 when

Best kind of MC

It makes empathizing for the readers easier since most of them are losers too. The getting all the girls part is for wish fulfillment, although not really realistic in The Breaker. He's a legitimate nice guy with positive traits and position of power. These do get the chicks.

>self-sacrificial, can't hurt or kill others
Are heroic traits. Nothing wrong with that.

Read Grand Blue!
And Vampire Juujikai.

You just has a case of selective-reading. Every industries has the good and bad, what you read is the translated materials, which was done because it was interesting enough to convinced someone spent their times to do them in the first place.
There are good, like Yoon In Wan with pre-SAO, and there are bad, like Yoon In Wan with post-SAO. Learn the difference.

>there is more grace and class in characters and their interactions
Fucking Im Dai Young, enough said.

Yongbi!

>>self-sacrificial, can't hurt or kill others
>Are heroic traits. Nothing wrong with that.
Not exactly, can't hurt or kill because you're canon fodder is not heroic trait. It only is if you're top dog and not to do it because you choose to and has a good reason to stand behind it.

It drags on and on... So we felt it more since we had to wait every week. But since you're gonna be binge reading it you'll be alright. Do take note however the story is not complete. It's on hiatus. Also the sequel is a shounen. Unlike the The breaker which is a seinen,

>replied to bait
Are you retard?

Well, obviously it only matters if you choose not to do something that you could otherwise do, not not doing it because you can't do it in the first place.

First of all, It's not a manga. It's a Manwha, and what do you expect, gooks are a bunch of fucking hacks. They literally made all of MC's work into nothing just so they can do a "sequel".

Veritas is a slow drip that gradually gets more hype. The MC is a relative weakling at the beginning for two reasons- he isn't a particularly natural talent and he refuses to use other martial arts or scientific enhancements the school he enters offers.

However, his martial arts style is considered top tier and the fights are bretty gud.

Too bad the ending is rushed and awful because it got canned.

It gets good after chapter 60-ish. Bad until that point though.

Years away. They wanted to take a break from it and make a new story.

He was just an asshole.

"Hey man, need some help with that machine?"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP AND FIGHT ME."

Well she's so inconsequential to the scope of his ambitions and worries now that it would be kind of ridiculous if she factored in at all. It's kind of refreshing that she's basically discarded because she's essentially some nobody and the things he has to care about are so far above shit like teen romance (and it's not like they ever actually dated) rather than her still being shoved into the story just because she was the first girl he was into like a lot of shonen stuff does.

He's not cannon fodder though? Even back in part 1 with fuckall training he was OP compared to your average murim, and in New Waves he went from fighting people considered super dangerous without even having any access to ki to one of the strongest people in the world.

Though the statement you're responding to is a bit confusing since it's more like he's unwilling to hurt or kill innocents.

I feel you, but literally just read MANime, or better MANga. You know the usual shit, Berserk, Jojo, Hokuto no Ken, Dorohedoro, Vagabond etc.

They will do part 3, they just took pause and drawing somekind of shit with sci-fi and boobs.

Veritas was garbage with nice art and hot girls. Main character was angry faggot; best character gets killed off and it got canned just as it was getting interesting.

I enjoyed the jokes on new waves. Like when Shioon gets his ass kicked yet stands up but nothing comes out of it, keeps getting trashed and the opponent fears him; earning the nickname "scariest sandbag".
