What are the best first episodes of an anime?

What are the best first episodes of an anime?

YYH's first episodes were great, best part of the series in my opinion

1&2 of Shigofumi

Darker than Black

Fuck me man Iris is super hot.
Why does he cheat on her?

Kotoura-san

>... to Kiritsugu, allowing his wife to sacrifice herself and complete the Grail is a betrayal towards her love, no matter what others say. However, it is necessary that he does not hesitate in this betrayal. To Kiritsugu, his sexual relationship with Maiya is a rehearsal before this betrayal, a form of self-abuse to steel his nerves while walking down this path. This is probably the sorriest excuse to have an affair, but Maiya treasured every second of it. It is essentially a negative spiral downward without an end.

in terms of getting people engaged, both madoka and reee:zero have very strong openings

Hanasaku Iroha made me feel like a piece of shit in the first 2 or 3 episodes and then it was like WOAH HO TIME FOR WACKY SLICE OF LIFE ANTICS INSTEAD

Like initially it's super sad that a girl with no father, a shithead mother and an abusive grandmother is uprooted from her life to go be forced labour with a bunch of people who hate her guts since her mom can't get her shit together.

Then it just sort of tones it down hardcore at the bondage scene

No competition

Okay.
Should've at least found someone hotter than his wife.
I mean come on, what's the point otherwise?

You go first

Then why the fuck was he okay with sacrificing her? He had 8 years to tell the Einzberns to make a new vessel instead.

why the FUCK has Irisviel not been properly lewded yet?

Ep 1+2 of Ai yori aoshi

I don't even like it but SnK's first episode is great

This.
FG : O does not count.

Bitch is a wife. She's had sex, right?

GIVE US A SCENE TYPE MOON.

...

the show really peaked at Eren turning into a Titan
the stuff that came after was okay and occasionally pretty good but felt way more like "hey this is what happens to this character even though we have no plot"
basically what happened to Berserk

The first few episodes of erased were pretty good and got me hooked harder than anything from recent anime

I'd say the best first episode compared to the rest of the show goes to Coyote Ragtime Show. The first one was absolutely amazing, but from there on it was a downward spiral.

Read the fucking source material if you're going to question the answers.

Charlotte

Because the series' quality continually declines at every passing episode

Too bad the ending went to shit

What a sexy baby.

Agreed. I dropped it against my will around that time because my PC broke but when i fixed it i didn't felt the need to pick it back up

Ga Rei Zero

I'm still fucking mad.

Gungrave

came here to post this
the first 3 episodes are truly magical

...

akame ga kill has that whole "ending your childhood friend route" right away

>Reading machine translation

Apologize

Record of Lodoss War

$1,000,000.00 American was spent on the 1st episode.

What? No way, where did you hear that from?

I felt bad for that making me feel
fuck those writers

Kuzu no Honkai

Kamisama no Memouchou

Sort of cheating with Kamisama because its a 40 minute long first episode.

O well

Absolutely worth it!

The episode that rocked Sup Forums to its core.

Cross Game

>the ending went to shit
lol no

>it turned out exactly as we expected it to turn out
>because we already read the VN before watching F/Z
Youre not saying your a filthy fucking secondary are you?

cmon guys

Linebarrels of Iron. The first 3 episodes. The rest of the show is garbage.

I'm going to do this from my rosy nostalgic memory, we set the stage with some fucking loser walking home from school. He gets crushed under a robot by some cute alien girl, who uses the robot to revive him and which forces him to become its master.

He goes on to save the city once or twice from some stupid shit attacking it, but proceeds in totally fucking up the town. THEN he starts using the superhuman abilities he's gained by being the pilot of the mecha to start just bullying fucking everyone, goes full narcissist, and is completely corrupted by the power he has. He even turns down whatever random defense organization who want him to join them and even the bitch who gave him the ability says she regrets it.

If I could request an anime/manga that is still in relatively unexplored territory it would be exactly this. Someone becoming completely corrupted by power, realistically doing things to please their own ego over helping others, turning down the 'call of the hero'. Things I could actually imagine happening to a REAL person stuck in one of these ridiculous situations.

KLK is my favorite

First episode of haruhi is definitely special if you watch it in the correct order

Excel Saga

My bro of exquisite tastes

No one?

Certainly not Fate/Zero. What horrible and unengaging way to start your show. 20 minutes of exposition with characters barely moving and nothing interesting to look at. Not to mention that the newcomers will be completely confused why you're supposed to care about those characters.

The first episode of Druaga, this isn't even a contest.

Who said it is? In fact, who said I read it in English?

where did it all go wrong?

Fate/Zero's first episode is literally: "Hey its been like 2 (LN) / 7(anime) years since you read the VN, here's everything that happened"

It was such a damn shame how the show turned out. Seeing how smug he was when he saved everyone at the start of the series was great.

>Fate/Zero
>known for having one of the most boring, talky, slow paced, exposition-heavy first episodes
>40 minutes of wait just to hear Saber say "are you my master?"

>one of the best first episodes
Fuck you.
Seriously, fuck you twice.

Having not read the source material, the first episode of F/Z felt good. And it introduced Iris, best girl in the series.

First half made the show seem like it was going to be good. Then it turned into pure shit and stayed there.

...

Started off with a BANG!
Second episode was even better.
Then Fujoshit happened.
Why does it always have to be this way?

Agreed.

Remember when Gargantia was so good? yeah

Was thinking this too. Watched while I was high as fuck and it seemed like the best thing in the fucking world
It'd a shame that five was introduced and the plot was fucking stupid. Visuals and OST were top notch

>kerry cheating on iri with that slut maya

Still mad.

...

god kerry is an autistic edgelord

Still. Mad.

>20 minutes of exposition
40 actually. And the next two episodes are 40 more minutes of characters expositing and mulling around until something happens.

>im going to betray her later - so i may as well betray her now

and people eventually die, doesn't mean you can just murder them as much as you want you autistic shit.

- ping pong even tho the rest is shit (yahari yuasa san)
- wake up girls first movie (does this count?)
- ttgl even tho the 2nd half is shit

Too bad there isn't a alt-timeline where Iri and Kerry don't have to fight in the grail war and just buy a comfy fairy-tale castle in Germany to fuck like crazed rabbits and have tons of kids.

Or better yet, Iri and me.

well, prisma illya is set in a world where kerry and iri said fuck it and left the einzberns. so theres that

I ain't watching that trash.

Watch it you fucking faggot.

Is your masculinity so fragile that you can't watch a series set in the fate universe that happens to be of the "mahou shoujo" genre?
>I-I CANT WATCH THAT TRASH BECAUSE ITS FOR GIRLS REEEEEE
Holy shit, kill yourself buddy.

It's a legitimate good watch if you enjoy the fate series and want to see a version where Iri and Kerry don't get involved with the fourth war

Jeez user I seem to have hit a nerve with you. Mommy not give you your tendies today?

well, its the timeline you wanted, although kerry and iri are on a "work trip" for most of it

Code Geass has my favorite first episode. Basically everything you need to hook in an audience.

Baccano has the greatest episode 1.
