It will only start hurting if Horrible dies. But then, it will hurt like a bitch.

>people are seriously nostalgic about fansub drama, low-quality translations, ''funny'' trollsubs and waiting for days to get subtitles

CR/HorribleSubs is probably the best thing that has happened in the fansub scene in recent years.

Why would people have to be nostalgic over poor translations when they could just download a recent CR release and get their dose?

Fansubber were cancer, so who cares? At the least CR gets us everything in a timely fashion and HS rips that shit.

This, dont forget bitchy and entitled subbers.

Fansubbing can die in a fire long as we get actually good subs elsewhere

>long as we get actually good subs elsewhere
But we don't

Who the fuck is fansubs?

>he hasn't learned Japanese after 20 years of masturbating to anime

I'm coping just fine, mainly because I actually remember the bad old days. The simulcast translations can be shit sometimes but the overall combination of quality, speed, and proportion of shows subbed per season is better than it ever has been.

If the benefits of the present necessitate a greatly reduced fansub scene so be it.

I remember Dattebayo doing ok translations years ago but they were extremely bitchy. Do you know what happened to them?

>fansub drama, low-quality translations, ''funny'' trollsubs
Wasn't all about that man. HS is fine and dandy, good subs. But depending on the show/group sometimes there was an extra bit of flavor while retaining a good translation. And i'm not talking internet joke flavor, really there wasn't THAT much of that in fansubs for the most part.

The choice between multiple translations was cool. Some groups were better for people new to anime as well (for better or worse) I can't say HS is dry, but some groups translated jokes better for certain shows if you aren't used to anime. Then there were people that had cool typesetting like Underwater releases. I mean they made Aikuro Mikisugi's shades reflect the subtitles at one point in Kill La Kill. Shit was tight.

I just wish we could have both. The uniqueness of subgroups and the speed/quality we have now.

>death of fansubs
>in the same season asenshi is saving anime

just learn Japanese my dudes lol

Any subber worth a shit got beaten down by the established groups. The nail that sticks out gets hammered and all that.
They wallowed in their mediocrity, happy to do a shitty job and given big heads by the fact that they were the only game in town by virtue of ganging up on people to drive them out. There's nothing to cope with, only cause to celebrate.

Except there were plenty of great subs that were quick and high quality

While I appreciate asenshi, there are seriously like 4 active subgroups left

Watch dub instead, wayyyyyyyyyy better than sub.

>they made Aikuro Mikisugi's shades reflect the subtitles at one point in Kill La Kill
Kill la Kill by Underwater was a fucking great release, but absolutely not for shit like that.

The last 3 or 4 years I honestly haven't given a shit about anime, there have been 4 or maybe 5 shows that I would legitimately regret not being able to watch and the rest I couldn't give a fuck less about. I realized that it was just a way to pass time and that it was a waste of that time since it wasn't really enjoyable anymore.

Now scanlations dying is something I'm more concerned about, I don't want to see batoshit turn into the CR of manga but I can see it happening in years to come, everything will be corporateized and independent amateur scanlators stamped out. Then they will control what gets translated and what doesn't. People thought this was a big deal with anime, a medium that doesn't have 1/10th the size and variety that manga does.

I never actually finished KLK, nor compared the actual translation to a HS release. Why is the Underwater release better than that? Regardless typsetting was cool as fuck with them.

Wouldnt independent scanlators just translate anything that is not already being worked on by another company? I'm not well versed with manga so i wouldn't know but that is interesting.

>no more typesetting
>no more karaoke
>no more OP/ED translations
>no more TL notes
>no more endcards

The future is terrible. Even worse I'm still reminded every week of what could have been because of PM actually putting effort into their subs.

Scanlators are shit. Official translations would be higher quality and have a far greater chance of actually finishing the damn thing.

>actually reading ugly as fuck English translated manga
>there are people who even buy this shit

>Group makes a big deal about saying they'll finish a series
>Put out one volume
>Never hear from them again
What's their name, Sup Forums?

PM?

In English? yep, in Spanish no, there are a lot of them.

I'll cry when commie is gone

Same. The tears of joy probably won't ever stop.

Commie was always my secret favorite. gg was nice too...

t. herkz

>low-quality translations
People are nostalgic about the present?

I literally lost it here

That's pretty funny.

>EOPs

End of production?
;_;

The same way that I cope with Sup Forums slowly dying.

By cursing the name of daiz.

/m/ gives me faith that they will come back.

I am with you. Drink up my friend, as we watch the sails of this sinking ship deflate and wither.

>no more simultaneous English subs + karaoke + Japanese characters
Fuck.

Do you remember gg? UTW? Peppridge Farm does.

Mazui bitch

>Why is the Underwater release better than that?
They used the HS script and improved it with better editing, encode quality and god-tier typesetting. And when CR was late they got original TL of equal quality.

But doing shit like mirroring subtitles in mirrors or subglasses or having them upside down when a character's upside down, or having them rotate around characters with camera pans is pure cringe and does not provide a natural and enjoyable way to understand the show. It's like a kid laughing at his own farts. Just fucking dumb. And possibly worse, it rips you out of the immersion of actually watching the show.

That's already not the case. Look at CR's translation of kawaisou if you want an example, slow as fuck, terrible quality, plagued with errors etc

meh, crunchyroll is actually giving those weabos money for his work

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was wrong. Scanlations are great.

...

I learned Nip.

Because there are like 4 airing anime that don't get official translations. If for some weird reason simulcast stop existing then fansub will come back. You just need someone who knows japanese and some basic technical skills everyone can learn to do fansub.
It's not like every japanese-speaking gaijin suddenly died mysteriously when CR started its business.

absolutely nothing of value was lost

Isn't there already 1 show this season were not getting fansubs for because netflix got their gajin hands on it?

ID-0
The first episode got subbed by /m/. The rest will eventually get subbed by the same people or by others.

Last time I watched subbed anime was in 2010. I don't really care.

Call me newfag but who is this girl? I always see her but google searches are helpless

CR subs are largely bearable (with some noticeable exceptions like Haikyuu), but Amazon's are fucking trash.

LWA would be there if Asenshi didn't pick up the slack.
Same nearly happened when gg dropped Kuromukuro, anons subbed the second cour.

I'm doing my part and subbing ID-0.

Show is shit anyway

Reminder: pastebin.com/7ieHykVh

remember the golden age when subs took months and were full of chatspeak

They sucked. Eclipse and Static Subs where it's at

But some things would not be picked up by official translators. I'm grateful for the Anons working on Made in Abyss, which probably won't be officially translated for obvious reasons.

That does not read like an organic dialogue at all.

By downloading 1080 hs rips that actually look better than NGU upscaled 720p crap.
Fansubs are no longer needed.

>says fansubs are no longer needed
>posts an anime with terrible cr translation
Do you enjoy eating shit?

I miss you [your-mom], [a.f.k.], [Triad], [SS-Eclipse] and [BSS].

All I have left are memories within my BD archives.

Gabu CR TL is great though.

...

I'm not shitposting, it's my honest opinion. The TL elevates the show above mediocrity.

Given the actual post, the only people I can think of is pocketmonsters.

I've talked to one of their translators a few times, she's really nice though I think she isn't as active anymore. Those guys have been doing great work for years, though it isn't the fastest.

Shitty encoding too.

>UTW is dead
>ggkthx wont be here until code geass s3 comes back
>thora is gone
depressing as fuck.

Those were the days...

Jokes on you, i'm a spic and fansubs are fine as ever. Chupenmela gringos.

This.

It's the golden age to watch anime. Any and all cons are vastly outnumbered by the pros.

...

I'm a spic and fansubs are anything but dead here.

It's not dead, only in coma.

Rember how Kaiji was subbed? Or Hidamari? 1 ep per month? Yeah, good days.

That's just because most of you fuckers are too retarded to learn english like the rest of the world.
