The vast majority of leftists in my university claim to prescribe to a belief/system of attempting to be vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, etc.

Common trend is that they are either manlets, lanklets, or somehow 300 pounds and "vegetarian".

Why is it that eating red meats, such as pic related, are heavily discouraged? What is there to lose be abiding by this demand?

I can't stand the meme they push about meat being unhealthy for you. I can't tell you how many vegetarian girls and soyboy guys I knew in college who were mostly eating fucking donuts and cookies all day, along with the occasional salad drenched in ranch dressing.
They try to present this idea that vegetarianism is about eating healthy and that they're constantly eating fresh fruit and vegetables, when in reality they're just eating fucking junk food.

And the idea of going after meat for being unhealthy when most of our healthy problems can be more directly tied to all the processed grains/sugar/HFCS/etc is just disingenuous, to say the least.

Red meat places a lot of strain on the body because it requires so much effort for your digestive system to break it down. That's why a big streak feels like its laying on your chest for 24 hours after you eat it. A largely vegetarian diet is optimal. Meat makes you fat and heavy. Once in a while its ok, but the American diet is so extreme to the other end its no wonder everyone is so fat and pathetic.

Meat is good, but wild caught fish is much better than land animals. Think of the way factory-farmed cattle, chickens, or pigs live, standing in their own shit half the time, fed food laden with potentially harmful chemicals, and stressed out and miserable 24/7. Some of that has to carry over to how their meat affects you when you eat it.
Back on the topic of meat in general, in college eating more meat on a daily basis coincided with me becoming more masculine, more fit, and having a higher sex drive. Not saying there's causation but I suspect hormonal balances may be affected by eating more meat.

You don't know what you're talking about. Anything rich in purines can exacerbate gout. That's not just red meat, but seafood, poultry, beans, spinach, lentils, etc. But furthermore, gout is mostly a genetic disorder, in that you pretty much need to be genetically predisposed. Gout isn't some epidemic that a huge portion of people have, whereas you try to pose it as being a likely outcome of eating red meat.

It is natural to eat meat and to crave it. We have evolved as an omnivorous species to eat all sorts of things to maximize our survival. This is in line with many other generalist traits we evolved (such as our dentition) which helped us maximize reproduction within a dangerous and often changing environment. However, we never had any biological requirement to include meat as part of our diet, and certainly less so in contemporary times with modern knowledge about nutrition.

I just cooked up a nice udon and steak stir fry. Those little 7$4-2 steak things walmart sells cook up nice, and Sup Forums might not approve of how much soya, oyster sauce and probably sesame oil I used, but even if it was too much it was delicious. I couldn't eat like that everyday (to some degree I have been but am only eating 1 meal a day lately for some reason)
The meat and over boiled udon soaked up pretty much all of the oyster and soya sauce I put on it and was a creamy, salty joy to eat. I made sure to put in enough veggies to make me take a step back and look at the colorful clump and think 'Man that looks pretty' before frying it brown in soya and sesame.
I have a bunch of shrimps and cocktail sauce I want to force myself to eat but a bit of red meat and veggies has me feeling healthy and not wanting for more.
