It's also a redflag that deportations are down yet arrests are up since Trump came into office. Just like the Dreamers, he likely wants to use this group as a way to pass a deal that gives them relief while allowing him to get enough democratic votes to get his vision of immigration reform passed, which would be a big win to approach reelection in 2020 with.

My dad and his GF are both hard core lefties, bleeding heart Refugees welcome types, but even they want nothing to do with Salvadorians. They have a winter home in Costa Rica, originally they planed to go to El Salvador before the latest uprising or whatever. They hate the place and say that 100% of those living there are affiliated with La Raza somehow or other.

What better method of improving a country than by bringing them here, training them on stable life, then sending them back to their homes.

They will cluster, and will be a new class of Salvadorans. These clusters will seek peace, fight corruption, and likely create blooming cities of greatness.

I look forward to visiting El Salvador in 10 years.

tps doesn't give any path to a green card (permanent residence) or US citizenship. it just caused immigration experts to temporarily try not to actively deport you so long as you remained lawful (didn't commit crimes) and stayed registered.

IF the alien entered on a valid non-immigrant visa and then overstayed in the US without leaving the US, AND they have a spouse who is a US citizen then they can file for an adjustment of status without leaving the US. if they entered the US by illegal entry (entering without a visa valid at the time of entry), then they have to leave the US for 3-10 years before they can be readmitted.

in most of these cases there is no immediate relative (parent/spouse) for them to sponsor a petition for a green card, and the kids can't do it for the parent unless they're 21, which in most of these cases, the people don't have kids that age or older. non-immediate relatives like cousins or aunts can't sponsor these people either.

So the whole premise of them being granted temporary refuge is that they would eventually return, right?

by ending the programs he can that don't require congressional approval he is pressuring the democrats to go in for bipartisan immigrartion reform. The DACA recipients (DREAMers) and the Salvadorans get a long term fix by congress, but in order to get that passed the democrats in congress would have to agree to wall funding, ending chain migration, reforming merit based immigration, ending the diversity visa lottery, etc.

They didn't "delay" anything this time. The Administration decides whether to renew any given TPS block from a natural disaster. They decided not to renew. Those under the program now have (in the next six months) the option to leave, perhaps apply for residency under different programs, or kick and scream and cry for the next ten years in the courts.
