5 icnhes dick or 8 inches?
Download both and see if you can tell a difference. If not, don't waste bandwidth on the larger one.
>don't waste bandwidth
Is this still a thing?
>1080p
Obviously. Unless youre watching anime on a 13" laptop screen you should be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p.
>Is this still a thing?
For some people, I suppose. If you can't tell the difference between the two, there is absolutely no reason to download the larger one.
>don't waste bandwidth
>Download both
It's not like you have to download both for every show. If 720p is enough for one, it's enough for them all.
It's an investment, nigger. I know your kind doesn't understand the concept of investing upfront to save in the long run which is why you are constantly poor.
TV versions is native 720p, correct me if I'm wrong,
BD versions is the only one that might show a difference between the two
Always 1080p if it's available.
>TV versions is native 720p, correct me if I'm wrong,
you are wrong. not all tv versions are 720p native.
If you want to take the guesswork out, just download the 1080p.
720p unless its KyoAni or a movie for me. I have a 15 inch screen so.
5
6.
Wrong. Almost all tv shows are native 900p or higher
Can you even tell the difference on a laptop screen?
Depends on the laptop screen.
If mastered higher than 720: 1080p
if not: 720p
What's so hard about that.
HDD space isn't an issue these days
Why can you easily tell a difference between 480p and 780p but not between 720p e 1080p?
Also, the on real issue with 1080p is when faggots can't set their media player properly and save .png screenshots.
If you care, evaluate yourself if 1080p looks better with each individual anime. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't.
Then use png yourself.

Fuck you
why are the colours in these two different?
.png is a shitty format for screenshots.
Read the post you replied to first.
I'm retarded. Please call me a faggot.
720
It doesn't make notable difference and save space. Especially cause usually the recoding (if made) is kinda shitty and files are too big.
>In b4 60Gb hardisk or slow connection
I have terabytes in the hardisk and optical fibers connection. Still don't see why subbers should do a crappy job at recoding for this reason and waste unnecessary space in my external hardisks.
A lossy format like jpg is even worse.
ITT : the Dunning Kruger Effect!
I'm going to have to ask you to stop making sense, user.
You're not preserving art, here. You're making a screenshot of a video. You're posting it on an image board where it will be viewed for a few seconds by some people and then never seen again. Maybe if you're taking a screenshot to serve as a desktop background then the huge increase in file size might be worth the tiny increase in quality.
Jpg is worst if not set properly.
Too many softwares compress too much.
I usually save bmp and jpg later trough photoshop with max settings.
Except it isn't. Anime is so incredibly simplistic in nature jpg can basically capture it without any loss, assuming the jpg quality is set high enough. PNGs are reserved for detailed still artwork (such as pixiv art) and anything that has a large amount of text (such as a screenshot of this thread).
Probably different player settings.
There are some artifacts that can be seen when zooming up 2x or so, but I still don't think that PNG is worth the 5x or so amount of storage they take up in comparison to JPG.
Production resolution.
You're telling me. I'd need a seperate HDD just for my screenshots folder.
More like 15x, see
jpg got bad reputation cause of the "need more artifacts" meme.
But if done properly there is no difference from png and you can embed color profiles that can be read by all softwares and browsers too.
The problem is that usually the compression level of the capture function cannot be set.
Those two images are from different sources so you can't really compare them.
You can compare the obviously huge difference in the filesize.
1080p all day every day. Fuck me if I can tell the difference, but my disk is too big to care.
is the source material 720p or 1080p?
I usually go for 1080p anyway because I'm too lazy to research
>tfw have 13"
Is this just a common thing?
There was not enough of a difference for me to care before, but when I upgraded my monitor from 22" to 27", the difference became painfully obvious. Now I have to redownload almost everything.
1080 HI10P because daiz said so
Sometimes it's 720p, sometimes it's higher
I grab 1080p for the same reason; if I want to archive something on BD then I do the research
13" is the best size for a secondary machine.
Here is comparison between png and jpg but still people are too lazy to change the compression level when they take screenshots and that's why jpg usually looks worse.

Zopfli cut the filesize in half. 1080p anime screencap really shouldn't take more than 2MiB under most circumstances (1MiB for 720p).
He probably also implied "Server" bandwidth and storage.
At 15" I start to see a difference.
what is the best laptop for q u a l i t y picture?
Sup Forums's favorite memetop, complete with the original shit screen.
Macbook, others can't compete.
Find a secondhand one, it's affordable.
I watch on 55" can't tell the difference at all.
10bit
H.264
This graph is retarded
H.265
most anime aren't drawn at exactly 1080p, it's like 900p a few years ago
and depending on where the video came from it could look bad even if it's 1080p
Comcast's "unlimited" plan actually had a hidden 250 GB limit. It was fairly easy to pass every single month without realizing.
Not sure if they changed that or not.
Verizon isn't an ISP in my region and may as well not even exist and AT&T does not have high speed service here.
>unironically defending lossy compression
>unironically posting bloated images for no reason
I bet you use gifs instead of webms too nigger.
Zopfli is a lossless png optimizer you retard.
Nice counterargument, faggot.
>using compression at all
Every compression is actually lossy due to rotational velocidensity, which is why I save all my screenshots as .bmp.
You surely love hoarding the 50 GB BD ISOs, right?
Stop posting coalgirls.
Through a bit of reading they changed it to 1TB a while back. I imagine it's still fairly easy to get through if you consume a lot of media.
what the hell do I do if there's BD raws but no subs to them? Is it easy to mux in the TV subs?
Depends if the BDs have extra footage or not.
Use sushi.
Very. use MKV cleaver to grab the subs then MKVmerge to put them together. You may have to put a delay on it, or if there are significant timing differences, load it up in Aegisub and do it manually (I've found this is pretty rare these days though).
Just the regular episodes
I'm worried about the timings being different, if it happens.
>0.20Mbps
Still more than I get here in spiderland.
I wish the few remaining fansubbers there are would switch to 10bit h.265 hevc already.
You can just retime it with Aegissub, it's braindead.
>use MKV cleaver to grab the subs

Guys, this shit does not belong to Sup Forums. Be autistic about something else
If there's one thing I like about living on campus, it's the (comparatively) crazy fast internet with no limits.
Tell that to mpv I use pngout to optimize my screenshots but half the time it spews out compatibility errors.
Does anyone know how much a 8+2(FRC)bit monitor improves the anime watching experience? That and buying a proper color calibrator?
>how you watch anime/deal with subs/ take screenshots of your favorite shows isn't Sup Forums-related
Get fucked retard.
Which anime are you discussing?
All of them.
Tomorrow on Sup Forums: Goys what kind of heaphones are you using while watching anime I prefer in-ear xDDD
All of them and how to take proper screenshots of it.
I understand you can't see the point of this thread since you stream on Crunchyroll.
Quality argument, keep your autism in .
Why? HEVC support will always be shit.
Comfy as fuck until the headband rots away from years of use.
Look at this shit, Victory Gundam avgs. 6.5MB per screenshot. I get that this is going to have huge screenshots, but fuck me shouldn't it be like 4 or 5 MB on average instead?
i.imgur.com
Because no-one uses it. It's a catch-22.
Do you know how these compare with the AKG ATH M50X? My headband and earpads are also fucked.
...
Uncompressed 1440x1080 bmp is 4.44MiB so what the hell are you doing?
Guys are you watching anime on windows or mac
