This has always been a strength of the author. He draws characters and situations like someone is two seconds away from snapping and murdering everyone. He is great at conveying meaning through facial expressions.

Pure speculation, but he probably wouldn't have. The point of the scene is that the mother seizes him when there is the least hint of danger. The cousin probably just gave him a small playful shove, but the mother reacted with pure terror. That everyone is laughing doesn't tell me that he was actually in danger of falling.

He's drawing weird facial expressions you don't really see in manga.

Like showing people laughing with teeth is not something that is seen in manga usually.

Creating a that is disturbing on a subconscious level, even more so than what he did in his previous manga.

I felt that the faces in Happines were way mroe realistinc than the ones you can see in any other manga, but this one is a lot more realistic.
All the people's faces me feel really nervous (specially that bitch aunt's one), but at the same time the mother's face makes me feel calm and safe

Notice the way the aunts eyebrows go up in a curve towards the middle of the head?
Normally when you laugh you tense up and the eyebrows go down. It looks like she is putting in a real effort for a mocking face. Makes people look eerie, I dunno just stuff I noticed?
