I can certainly not speak for all boards on this site, but there is some lack of creativity in general, it's not only Sup Forums, and certainly not because we have no newfags, which I highly doubt.

The only really "creative" board right now and with an effect on the outside is Sup Forums. So please be careful what you wish for.

I'll tell you so listen up. Sup Forums has became mainstream in the sense that tons of undesirables from all over the internet have flocked here and not the type of undesirables that inhabited this place previously. Worse yet is that at some point, they either started to outnumber or were just vocal enough to seem like a greater population than those originally here. Their shitty habits such as general threads, forcing memes and lack of elitism were enabled further by the fact that mods were now either on their side or just so dimwitted that they actually fell for the overwhelming stupidity sweeping the board. You also get the people that want nothing but discussion which is fine but makes the board as boring as possible though there's nothing to really fault there.

Add in the fact that oldfags or at least people that "get" what Sup Forums is about are becoming fewer in number due to growing up and having their own lives to manage and you should quickly realize that the current population of Sup Forums is a bizarre smorgasbord of older users clinging on, people that are still in the middle of enjoying Sup Forums or hoping it will improve since it's only been a few years and they missed the "glory days" and newfags. The idea that Sup Forums's population has gotten older altogether is incorrect.

Also, despite slowing down since the heyday, Sup Forums has given up on most OC due to an innate fear of having it be stolen and used on other sites that I'm sure don't need to be named. There's no effort going into OC unless there's an audience and Sup Forums moves fast enough that nothing especially good doesn't stick so it never has a chance. Also, browsers seem to be especially retarded when it comes to software these days. Talking about PS or Gimp which are babbies first image editing software or Aegisub for subbing or IRC for XDCC or general discussion and the modern user will be in confusion.

People who don't want generals are idiots who just want to talk about their 2deep4u shits like Serial Experiments Lain and the likes. They got mad because in their opinion, generals are the reason the threads they make can't stay alive long enough. This is of course very far from the truth. Uninteresting threads will die even if generals don't exist. If people don't want to talk about it, they won't talk about it. They should learn to deal with it and create interesting threads that can attract posters instead of whining about how generals are the cancer killing Sup Forums.
